So the hitting on hook: That is toxic but that helps the survivor's more then the killer cause they go through a hit animation which allows the survivors to unhook and even making it safe if they have BT.

As for the Camping: If it's early on I can understand but if it's like 1 gen or all the gens are done there really isn't any point to leave the hook.

I'll be honest, I've come around on camping only because people are right it is hard not to when you KNOW those survivors are in that area. Tunneling too tbh, neither are a problem.

And LOL I WISH XX I only made this post because it's so bad they are doing it the WHOLE GAME.

Like I kid you not the worst was the lady with traps, a whole team wiped after her facing and slugging the survivor with all her little things that make you run and MISS the hook by a lot. So even if she had a cool down she guranteed the kill and that first person NEVER got off the hook.

I had that quick unhook and heal because of unhooking, an offering burned that made the hooks further apart, AND a hook sabotage kit that only confused her for a second. She ignored me to chase the injured person. Still got them on a hook even after a pre-emptive sabotage. It's unreal.

I'll just assume there's no real rules being broken since you refuse to tell me. Can't say I didn't try to get you to help make it clear.

******_"Then recently I kept getting stuck with killers I thought were breaking the rules, turns out the same things they say isn't allowed **literally listed under the report buttons** is IN FACT allowed by the Killers. Outside of holding a survivor hostage in a corner, there is nothing a killer can do that's unfair, maybe not fun, but nothing unfair.

Their task is to kill, how they do so is the aspect that allows for fun in that role.

If you feel your being deprived of play because of getting hooked, that's a result of your inexperience not killer toxicity. Everything before your failure in a chase is your opportunity to play based on personal ability. Once hooked it is for the most part entirely up to teammates to provide any additional chances for that match.

There is no chase therefore no way to escape when they are facing and keeping survivors on or near that one hook. Can't run from a killer looking right at you and neither can the person you just saved. Even if you manage to take the hit for them, that's two hooks one person and they know you are trying. It means one person does not get to play which is using game mechanics to play toxic. It's not inexperience and that is not a solid excuse to keep people from playing the game.

I didn't say it was too harsh. Please read what I said again.

There is no way to punish facecamping that doesn't give Survivors an enormous advantage that they DO NOT NEED.

Being allowed to play a game is literally the basic of basic. That's why the discussion is penalize them, if they want to keep doing it then that sounds like a killer problem for taking advantage of game mechanics.

  • @Pulsar said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2565675#Comment_2565675

Penalizing them would not stop them either.

We already have a harsh penalty system. You think it works?

BHVR has said they've repeatedly tried and failed to create a suitable system to punish facecamping (and only facecamping) but have found that it allows the Survivors to have way too much power.

If BHVR knows something isn't going to work, it really isn't gonna work.

If they are caught doing things that interrupt gameplay like facing then they should have to face the consequences. Saying everything is already "too harsh" is a cop out for they contradict themselves by allowing killers to do it without any issue.

If they can't stop it then it should be against the rules so people can actually play.

I've read it several times and asked for specifics so that I could understand. Since you'd rather not make your message more clear to me, I'll stop trying to "derail" your discussion by asking for more information. 🤷

Asking for clarification on things clearly listed in asterisks is you not trying or derailing. I thought you left already?

People who interrupt gameplay like hook guarders should be penalized and contradictory rules should not be what is protecting them.

I doubt this would work. Some people do it to ruin the fun for the person on the hook (preventing them from playing the game).

    Maybe a different incentive?

  • @Khar said:

I did read it and I'm not seeing it. So, if you don't care to tell me, I don't care to continue on with this. Best of luck with your games.

If you read it then you wouldn't need a play by play. Just say you don't agree and move on.

We were given the definition of the behaviour, agreed it was incorrect for fun gameplay THEN ALLOWED IT ANYWAYS.

You do not get to derail a discussion about contradictory rules *the topic* because you didn't want to read it. Have a good day and goodluck getting through any other post you "try" to muddle through.

    This one?

Yes where it says I figured it out and ties into the point of why it's contradictory.

Go play some killer to the extent you played survivor, you are coming across as entitled and naive.

Camping 100% at times is simply the correct move. You might not see it, but there are legit reasons to do it. Just some simple examples, end game, positioned within a 3 gen, noticed multiple survivors in the area, etc.

Slapping you on hook, if that is the griefing you speak about is the equivalent of tea bagging.

You have been enjoying the game have you not, so how is the killer the only one having fun.

I have. My position still stands. The only way to get a fun game in these days is to play the killer. There is no reason to face to face survivors on hooks, it's not the same as teabagging which has zero effect on the killer where them hook humping definitely gives then an edge.

I can let go camping and even tunneling, knowing certain maps REALLY well has helped a ton in that area and I've even started using sabotage kits/ flashlights to help.

Neither of which did anything to save me or my whole team when I had offered something to make the hooks further apart and I have insane unhooking speed when the hook guard. I'm decent at timing too if they are hitting but they ALWAYS down me then I'm on the hook. At that point everyone knows what they do and I am abandoned. Even waiting to let then handle it, usually just dead quicker with no unhooking boost. Like I even have slippery meat and still man, it's ubreal or i wouldn't be nad because it's a fub game. But not if I dont get to actually play which is 80% of my time in match now.

Which paragraph specifically? I've read it twice and you haven't made it clear what the killers are doing that's against the rules. Is it smacking people on the hook? Camping? Those aren't against the rules. Are they holding the game hostage?

    Fourth.

Point it out to me. What was the rule that was broken?

Again you didn't read it to figure out the conclusion then this is a you problem, it's still up there.

I am just helping to correct you. First it was "there is no way anyone enjoys this" and now it is "of course you enjoy this." Now we agree and can move forward. How do we stop this toxicity?!

It was an over exaggeration, there is no need to correct. Only stop being toxic so that other players actually get a chance to play the game.

Penalize the behaviour like they should any game interrupting tactic.

  • @ThiccBudhha said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2565607#Comment_2565607

If it wasn't the point or the topic, why bring it up? That is your problem, not mine. Rofl.

Anyways, I digress, it is not pretending to play the game just because you are mad. If I was just pretending, you should really be blaming your survivor buddies for not being able to save against a skilless pretender.

Using claims of enjoyment for a toxic gameplay doesn't help it's case, of course you enjoy it it's almost a guranteed kill.

It's interruptive gameplay and has nothing to do with feelings, it shouldn't be allowed just because killers don't want to work for sacrifices.

  • Not saving fellow survivors is bad form and even if you do only spare one extra to get a hooked person then you're guranterd to lose two people right away. At the very least hook guarding should be penalized because it takes no skill and interrupts another players gaming. Quite literally they can't do anything while killer is standing right in front of them even if they manage to hop off which is low even with slippery meat.

  • @ThiccBudhha said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2565597#Comment_2565597

I actually do enjoy beating them on hook, believe it or not.

Ok and that was 100% not the point nor the topic.

It's pretending to play the game while preventing someone else from playing. It should be an offense or nerfed because it takes absolutely no skill.

  • @Yords said:

I always hear people complaining about these tactics (although they are cheap and lame at times) and don't understand why they beg for them to be nerfed.

You simply cannot implement much at all that would punish a killer for doing any of these actions without breaking the game, and are you really going to punish a killer for doing their only objective? But you don't need this at all in the game because they are already punishable, by survivors.

    Slugging:

If the killer is slugging people a little too excessively, it can backfire hard. If the killer slugs two people and does not pick them up, then this gives the others an opportunity to go in and save them. This also robs the killer of their time and possibly resources (like Huntresses' hatchets or just time). And perks such as unbreakable or WGLF are also pretty darn good in these situations as well.

Once you recover from a heavy slugging session, there is a good chance that you can rebound very well afterwards if you play your cards right and manage to coordinate a recovery, even a small one. This will also suck for the killer since they miss out on a hook state.

    Camping:

I think we all know that the best way to deal with this is to just do generators as you can and escape or to perform well-timed and coordinated saves with BT assuming the killer is not a Bubba. By not doing so, you just give the killer more kills for even less effort.

If a killer camps at the start of the game and you manage to recover from it, there is a pretty good chance that you can escape since the killer spent most of the early to mid game just sitting in one area or spot. Especially since all of the pallets should still be up.

    Tunneling:

Finally, tunneling. Tunneling can backfire pretty badly just like the other two. Why? Because if the killer focuses on only one survivor to chase and hook, then the killer can waste precious time, lose map pressure on the other survivors, and if the killer fails to kill that survivor then the killer will just have wasted a huge amount of time chasing one survivor for nothing. They won't even have enough time to make a comeback.

    Conclusion:

Now, obviously you will not always be able to punish the killer as survivor, but the fact that you can shows enough. This is mainly for solo or low MMR players who fall into this category.

You punish the killer by simply playing around them.

Hook guarding is really the only thing that needs to go, the others at least you can try and get a fair chance.

I have watched whole teams go down trying to do what you suggest on so many occasions it's not even funny that it's classified as gameplay.

EVEN WITH a purple toolkit geared towards hook sabotage and someone helping pull people off hooks AND the offering that makes then further apart. Iron grip is what gets us there but is a fair perk IF they aren't hook guarding.

It ruins the fun of the game (because there is no way you're gaining enjoyment from standing in one spot and or slapping hooked meat around) and doesn't allow hooked survivors to play at all, which is becoming normal just to save the other three. It's toxic and something should be done about it because it isn't even funny how common it is.

    Survivors are overpowered.

    Just had a match:

    Crappy mmr gave me

Survivors with 4 flashlight, 4 head ons Everytime I walk past a locker head on stunned. Chasing one survivor. Smash hit into head on. Followed by flashlight. And the devs see this as fine.

I have had flashlights not work more often than work and pallets be the ONLY thing that keeps me from being killed.

On that note I do have sone ideas that might help and 100% enraged me but also gave me mad respect for the killer when someone did it.

As a killer that uses pallets on the other team, it makes me very aware of them so there's that. You need better enviornment mapping skills. Figure out what things are where so you can out maneuver one trick pony players like that.

Also choose a killer that can lay traps (there's two. Obviously trapper and one other lady killer) Do you know how many times they've snatched me up RIGHT IN FRONT OF A PALLET AND I COULD DO NOTHING? XDXD it's great and I hate it. Also let them drop the pallets, if you have a fast killer you can snatch them AGAIN through windows and vaulting pallets.

You are encouraging it when you treat survivors who are not toxic this way.

Look at how the behavior of others has changed your playstyle. The same goes for survivors who have encountered killers like the ones who you described in your op. Toxicity breads toxicity breads toxicity.

And the last thing you're in any place to preach about is being constructive when you're perpetuating bad behavior.

*goes back and deletes my bs because you right*

  • @milkybandit69 said:

Every survivor. Every game. T-bagging at every escape or mere pallet drop. Clicking incessantly when I'm trying to catch their teammate. Sending hateful messages win or lose. I'm just gonna start camping and tunneling the first person I see with double discipline doc and bubba. And while I'm at it, I'm gonna give ya a smack on the hook for every ######### t-bag. The rest can do gens and get out or die to egc. I'm not gonna play fair anymore when every last survivor I play against is a toxic prick. And yes, since SBMM it's been EVERY survivor. I can't even have fun anymore with cool builds I just equip meta and sweat my ass off for some sense of revenge.

    end rant.

Tunneling, hook blocking, and camping isn't skilled also hook blocking 100% ruins the game. You aren't even playing at that point and for as long as you're there, neither can that other player. Getting your feelings hurt does not warrant quite literally taking advantage of the game mechanics to be an insufferable troll. It makes me want to but it's absolutely trash and we know that too.

I mean BHVR themselves confirmed that the games have been more evenly matched so if you're having a problem of being matched with better players you are an outlier.

Considering they say something is bad gameplay then turn around and allow it, I doubt you can use that as your sole source of info.

  • @kandigoth said:

Welcome to dbd lol. Both sides have their fair share of toxic nonsense and it's just a cycle that is now a part of the game.

That's not really acceptable from either side? I can see how survivors can be toxic but comparing hook humping to teabagging *my example which is the most complained about thing I've seen in for killers* doesn't make sense because one prevents players from playing and the other is childish abd should be reported.

As I was pointing out, it's to the point where it's no fun because you're not even getting to play as a result of it, the toxic part don't even matter to me. I just want to play.

  • @Shaped said:

I suggest getting at least 100 hours on each role to get better understanding why something happens, because it is not always for the reasons you might think.

I see absolutely zero reason to camp hooks constantly and block them. People won't even get me half the time. Pinhead, wraith, Huntress, Trapper, etc they have all done it.
