unrelated, but your username will never not make me laugh internally everytime i see it cause it reads as something like 'in your dreams, you're crazy' in my language lmao

lol, that is the first time I've heard that. What language?

  • If your gens are getting blocked then that is on you. 8 regression events is a lot. The vast majority of games I've played as a killer or survivor, this feature never came up. That tends to say a lot about your playstyle if you are having an issue with this. Just adapt.

  • It's always optional. You don't have to play it. Unlike 2v8 that had a distinct effect on normal game mode, you can still get games in a reasonable time period on regular with Lights Out. I think with a few tweaks like letting us bring bloodpoint only offerings would go a long way.

  • @OrangeBear said:

Yeah i think this iteration of lights out is a lot better than the original. Only problem is that if survivors hold candles they are screwed when getting chased, because they are highly visible even through walls.

Yeah, that is true. But I also think that is fully intentional. It should be a double edged sword. Survivors can always drop the object too though that might be tricky mid chase.

  • What they should do is make it so when there are only 2 survivors left, they have a huge bonus to gen repair speed so it seems plausible to finish gens. That's why they don't even try. What's the point? There is absolutely no way to finish a gen with 2 players when it takes so long to finish one. Since it is futile to even try then the survivors best hope is that the killer finds the other survivor first so you might get hatch. Survivors should get 50% bonus when 2 survivors are left and 100% when alone. Odds are as killer you will still find and kill at least one of them anyway and it won't take so long searching the whole map.

  • Why do you have so many ticket submissions? By ticket submission, are you talking about reporting other players?

  • As a perk idea, I think it's fine. I don't think something like this should be a base feature of the game though.

  • Honestly, I think they should just take the "tech" part out of the equation and make it so the wolf slides on environmental objects when pouncing. It makes sense for a wolf to be able to take corners quickly and I don't think it's completely unplayable for survivors.

  • I agree honestly. If they are going to charge that much for a skin, I don't think asking for a unique character portrait or lore is asking too much.

  • I don't think it needs to be removed. But I do think something needs to be done about survivors screwing over their team mates. I think if a survivor does one of the following things during the first 7 minutes of a match then they should be subject to a disconnect penalty. Makes more than one attempt to unhook self, or misses more than one skill check on stage 2 hook. There really shouldn't be any "accidental" players getting caught up by that system.

  • Object is meant to be high risk. Running up against a stealth killer is part of that risk. I don't think any change is needed.

  • I haven't actually used this add on yet. I assume there are random fire pillars that spawn in the exit gate area. What is the frequency? Cause it doesn't sound all that strong. They don't necessarily need to redo the add on to make a new perk with similar functionality. For example, they could make a new killer perk that fills the exit gate area with toxic gas. If a survivor spends more than 4 seconds in the exit gate area then they lose a health state. That should be enough to exit w/o taking damage if the survivor doesn't dork around. I think that would be a little better than random pillars anyway.

  • I think he's okay. I don't think he's really for me though. I've played a fair amount of games as Dracula but most of them didn't have particularly good results. But I've also played as a survivor against him a fair amount too and watched a fair amount of YouTubers playing him and I can acknowledge that my results are a skill issue. I don't think I'm willing to put in the amount of time it would take for me to properly learn him. But I think he's a fine addition to the game.

  • I'd suggest spending some time reading patch notes. That will help more than anything.

  • I think it's fine honestly. It's one of those changes that if it wasn't in the patch notes then 90% of players wouldn't even notice.

oh yeah? what about boil over +flip flop + breakout
    aint that problematic mr killer/main
literally used it hour ago with random swf i found. killer couldn't hook us but OH NERF WEAVE ATTATTUNEMENT ITS PROBLEMATIC😱

Don't try to derail the thread. I've never once stated that this game is 100% balanced except for this one thing. If you want to start a thread about another perk combo then go for it. But keep things on topic in this thread.

  • The new prestige system is amazing. I don't know what you are complaining about. I took a break for around 18 months and this was added during that time. It is single handedly the best change that was made during that time.

yeah now that I think about it my suggestion doesnt answer for those that simply dont play one side. perhaps perks that simply give those bonuses with no other effect? that way the trade off for doubling bp earned at the end of the match in perk form is a taken up slot? that way its a self-imposed difficulty-up for better grind reward? (stacks with queue bonus)

There used to be perks that did that. They specifically removed those aspects of the perks. Honestly, these days it isn't too bad earning bloodpoints. They give out the weekly bonuses, daily challenges, tomes, events, annual event cakes that people hoard, etc, etc.

  • Simple. Because it screws over the other players. If I'm playing as a survivor and I'm trying to work on a tome where I need to complete a gen or something. I shouldn't be punished because the killer chose to chase me around and then decides to quit the game after a gen pops. Now I can't work on my tome challenge until the next match. How fair is that? If you want to give up as a killer then go hide in the basement or something. Or just don't play as killer if you can't handle it.

  • I think people are kind of funny about the addition of avatars of real people being added to the game. I get the Fortnite concerns. But from my perspective, what is a survivor? Survivors are just humans. I don't really see the issue with representations of RL people being used vs the humans BHVR made up. Let me put it this way. There are probably a couple hundred men out there that are close enough to RL Dwight that with very little effort they could pull off a perfect cosplay of Dwight. So they are already "in the game" so to speak, you just don't know their RL name. Does that make sense?

Anyway, to get more on topic, I would be happy with a number of different people being added to the game. My only real issue is having to pay money for licensed characters. Would I like to play as Paul Rudd in DBD? Sure. Do I want to pay 5 dollars to play as Paul Rudd compared to paying 0 dollars for a made up character BHRV created that vaguely resembles Paul Rudd? Not really. I didn't really want to buy Laura Croft for example. Her perks mean nothing to me and the character model is just one of a hundred survivor skins I can play as at this point. Literally the only reason I bought her is just because of that weird part of my brain that wants all characters unlocked. But if they add more characters like that, I don't know if I can continue making the justifications.

  • Because it doesn't need adjusted. I don't play a ton of survivor, but I have never once had the option to unhook myself because of the anti camp mechanic. 10 extra seconds isn't going to change anything. This is a non issue.

  • @GonnaBlameTheMovies said:

No OP, it does not need a nerf. All it needs is an indication of where an item got dropped. Why aren't Killers allowed to have aura read to help track and therefore chase, but Survivors are allowed it? I don't understand. Either we all should have good aura read or nobody should have it, and I feel like the game will become very stale hide and seek if nobody has it.

Yes. It does. And since it is already scheduled to be nerfed in November, clearly the game developers agree with me. At this point in time, arguing whether Weave Attunement needs nerfed or not is futile. What we should be discussing now is how it should be nerfed. I'm in favor of a simple time limit. Something reasonable like 90 seconds from when it dropped. That is enough to give value without being oppressive for the entire match. With a time limit like that, it could arguably have an increase in range.

  • @aklai said:

    please oh my god

Please omg what? Please nerf Weave attunement or please don't nerf weave attunement?

  • What is this post? Are you the survivor or the killer in this scenario? I suppose it doesn't really matter. If you are going to play DBD then you need to develop some thick skin. If you can't handle post game chat then minimize your chat window. If you don't like getting messages and stuff then play in anonymous mode. But you just have to get over a little tea bagging. I don't even think of it as an insult when survivors do that. I just think of it as a "hello" at this point.

They aren't going to do that because then it comes out that whatever YouTube man is doing heinous crimes and now they have to remove all that stuff

That is a valid point with what has recently happened with Mr Beast's channel. Even so, I think it is a good idea. If someone turns out to be a monster in RL they always have the option to remove that banner/charm or whatever. I don't think a rational person would try to hold BHVR accountable for something a YouTuber did just because they added some minor content related to the person.

  • Since they made the change to the way prestige works, I think the grind is actually reasonable. I took a break for about 18 months to 2 years and when I came back it took me around 4-6 months to get completely caught up so all killers and all survivors had all perks at tier 3. Which I felt was pretty fair. And I wasn't playing like crazy or anything either. New players don't need everything unlocked and maxed out to enjoy the game. Having that feeling of steady progress while unlocking stuff is part of the drive to keep people playing. I know that I personally have less motivation to play when I feel like there isn't anything to earn. These days the main thing that keeps me playing is tomes, events, and new game modes plus new killers.

  • If you forget the whole pride flag whining, OP actually does make a good point or two. I think it would be pretty cool if any YouTuber making DBD content and has over 200,000 subscribers and is in good standing with BHVR got a banner or something that they got to personally design. It is something that should take minimal effort on BHVR's part and would create a lot of good will.

  • I have to agree. I hate playing as survivor. I really try not to play like a jerk as a killer for the simple fact that I'm grateful there are players willing to play as survivor. So I genuinely try not to make the experience miserable for them. But I would appreciate it if BHVR made the effort to make the survivor experience less miserable. Here are two ideas:

    1. Make it so survivors can heal themselves from a downed state. Healing 98% of the way works like normal. The last 2 % takes 30 seconds to heal, but the survivor can crawl during this period. This makes it so the killer can still slug tactically but as a purposeful strategy it wouldn't work nearly as well.
    2. When hooking a survivor, the survivor is teleported to a random hook on the map. Hooked survivors are invisible to the killer. The basement hooks do not apply to this rule. Survivors hooked in basement remain in basement and are visible to killer. Survivors will also not randomly teleport to basement hooks. Scourge hooks work normally based on which hook the killer puts the survivor on, not which hook they are teleported to. Both the unhooked survivor and the survivor that does the unhooking are immune to aura reading and killer instinct for 5 seconds after an unhook. The teleport/invisible survivor rule do not take effect after 5 gens are complete.

I would suggest doing this as an alternate game mode first to work out the bugs and get players feedback. But this would shut down the majority of complaints survivors have about the game. Camping, tunneling, and slugging would pretty much be solved.

  • I hear what you are saying but I still wouldn't recommend running this perk. There is no guarantee that you will be alive when there are two gens left or that once you charge up Potential Energy that you won't get hit before you can use it. Even in the ideal situation there is a valid argument to be made that it would have just been more efficient to finish your gen and run over and assist with the last gen. But yes, if the killer's game plan was to hold a 3 gen then this strategy might make a difference. It just seems like it is far more likely to get little to no practical value.

  • I have to agree. I would prefer chaos shuffle as permanent mode over 2v8. Chaos mode is perfect casual mode. The only change I'd like to see is limit on items/add ons/offerings to green rarity or lower. 2v8 needs a lot of work before it would be ready for a permanent status in the game. Maybe a hard cap on the number of killers that can be queued up at any given time or something. Maybe make it 2v6 and buff survivors like give them an extra hook state to make it more balanced. But something has to be done about the queue situation before that game mode could be permanent.

survivors when there is fun perk for them : 😃
survivors when there is fun perk for killer : 😡

There is this prevailing assumption that any time someone comes to these forums and criticizes anything that effects one side or the other that it must be a "survivor main" or "killer main". I would like to think that I can look at this game objectively and see how something effects both sides. Just for the record though, I do identify as a killer main. I generally only play survivor when competing tomes. But the vast majority of my games are played as a killer. I've used Weave Attunement and Franklins together on a lot of games now. That is why I can say with confidence that the perk combo is a problem.

I've seen people say that survivors can just pick up the items and drop them off in the corner as if that is a simple solution that always works. There are plenty of killers that can very easily punish survivors trying to do this. Huntress can snipe survivors trying to pick up items. Lots of killers have fast mobility options to catch out survivors trying to pick up items.

  • I think 2v8 is less stressful for both roles. I just view it as a silly mode so I genuinely don't care about the outcome other than "was it fun?". I generally don't get too stressed about 1v4 either but there are times I get genuinely irritated. Mostly as a survivor which is why I only play survivor when I feel it is necessary for tome goals.

  • I'm going to respectfully disagree. I think the pace of change in this game is quite acceptable and reasonable. We get new killers and survivors quarterly. Updates at the same time plus at least one update mid chapter. Events are even more frequent with most major holidays celebrated. Plus we get alternate game modes sprinkled in there periodically. Battle passes and new skins regularly added. If you compare the game today to when it was released then you will see just how much the game has massively changed. I don't know what more a reasonable person could possibly expect.

  • Just play Hillbilly and run to the other side of the map from where the other killer is if this is such a big deal for you. Then the other killer can't steal your precious kills. This really is a comical thing to complain about though. Makes about as much sense as a survivor complaining that another survivor "stole my unhook".

  • This is just a troll post right? It can't be real.

  • @Mandy said:

This is one of the things we talk about like an arms race, it's a cheat basically. We have blocked things on our end, but the circle continues that people who want to cheat develop new ways, then we block it, then they develop something else. It's a never ending cycle.

Since the vast majority of this takes place on PC's, I think this is a good argument against cross play being forced down our throats.

  • I can't wait for 2v8 to end. Taking a break until it does. Don't get me wrong. I had my fun. I think it has its place in DBD. I hope it comes back periodically. But this game mode is not in a good position to be made permanent. I think that would be a huge mistake.

  • I'm honestly not happy about this. But it is what it is. I'll just take the week off DBD.

  • I could see this as a joke thing in an alternate game mode during April fools. But this or anything like it has 0% chance of going into normal game mode.

Edit: btw, banger of a first post. Welcome to the forums.

It will be an issue when you are at the limit for common addons you will never use and yet they continue to show up in your bloodweb, wasting bloodpoints.

LOL, I'm sorry, but that is hysterical to me. You make it sound as if 99% of your bloodpoints aren't already being wasted in bloodwebs. What difference does it actually make if the cap for consumable stuff in bloodwebs is 1k, 10k, or 100k? You will literally never use them all. At a certain point it just becomes a number. It is a delusion on your part that they weren't being wasted well before whatever the cap is. So no, I don't think you need any form of compensation if you buy something on the bloodweb but it is already at the cap. An no, I don't think the devs should spend time coding something so stuff won't show up on the bloodweb if it is capped out in the persons inventory. This is an absolute non-issue.

it is a bit diffcult to work around the categories, i thought you could just make a new post and do discussion

but for some reason its more complicated then that and you cant change it for whatever reason, i could just remove it if it bothers you THAT much

Honestly, it doesn't. I find it more amusing than anything. Typically people post everything in general discussion knowing that it is more active and will get more views or it is just the only place they read and post things so they do it out of habit or ignorance. So finding a post that actually belongs in general discussions somewhere else is pretty funny. Do what you want with that knowledge but this thread has already been pretty derailed which is entirely my fault so I apologize for that. If I were you, I would just copy paste the body of your post in a new thread in general discussions.

  • I don't think they should ever make a 3 (or more) killer mode with the possible exception of a contagion mode where 12 or so players queue up and one is randomly selected to be a random killer and then once that player kills one survivor then the player respawns as a random killer and this continues until there are no survivors left. Last survivor alive gets like 150k bonus bloodpoints.

  • Oh and just to be on topic, I would use this with Alert and possibly Object of Obsession.

  • It's kind of funny that usually I see posts in general discussion that clearly belong in feedback and suggestions. But this is the opposite as far as I can tell. What suggestion or feedback is being made here? You don't seem to be asking for or recommending any change to any perk. Seems like the post is clearly a discussion about what perk loadout goes best with a certain perk. Post should be in general discussions I think.

  • @I_CAME said:

There's too much stuff in the game in general. Perks are probably the worst offender. I have played this game for years and I have no idea what half of them even do. I can't imagine being a new player. The logical solution would be to outright delete 1/3 of perks from the game. So many of them are useless and serve no real purpose other than to confuse new players. Would anybody really miss Residual Manifest or Red Herring? How about Detective's Hunch or Ace in the Hole? It's not like they're ever going to be able to balance them anyway. Things would be much more manageable if new characters shipped with two perks instead of three.

I actually do use Detective's Hunch on occasion so yes, I would prefer that perk not be deleted. I'm sure someone out there feels the same way about those other perks being mentioned. I don't think deleting content is the way to go. When you have 4 perk slots and 150 or so perks to choose from then naturally many of them will rarely see play. I think that was one of the major appeals of Chaos Shuffle. All those weird perks suddenly are equipped and it's up to you to get value out of random rarely used perks.

Honestly, I don't think perk overload is that big of an issue. New players still have access to all the generic perks and the free characters they have access to. A player could easily make a workable build with those perks even by today's standards. So they don't really need to know what all the perks do. They just need to figure out what works for them which is totally doable.

Learning all the killer powers is more of an issue. Many new killers have a lot of weird survivor interactions that have a real learning curve. New players running into Onryo, Cenobite, Xenomorph, Singularity, etc, etc are going to have issues figuring out what is going on. To be fair to BHVR though, they do generally include tips on how to play against these killers on the loading screen. I think that goes a long way.

  • I think it was wise of them to not roll this game mode out as being permanent. Having experienced it now, I think this mode should come back quarterly for a week. That feels like the right ratio.

  • Bear in mind that the longer it takes for a match to start, the worse the MMR matching gets. This whole 2v8 game mode is really screwing with match making even in normal mode. So if you are basing your experience over the last couple weeks then I wouldn't put too much stock in it. Once 2v8 is gone (which it should be now I think) then things will get more back to normal. You might still find it difficult to escape. A lot of survivors (myself included) are pretty focused on whatever tome quest we are working on and surviving is a secondary objective. So solo queue will always be rough.

  • When you are slugged then it is your right to crawl wherever you want but from my perspective, doesn't it make more sense to get the game over with so you can start the next one? You aren't just wasting the killer's time, you are wasting your own. If I'm playing killer and I can't find the survivor in a reasonable amount of time cause they are slugged then I'll just afk to use the bathroom, get a snack, watch a YouTube video or whatever. I don't really think of it as a "punishment". Btw, I don't generally slug for the 4k but if there are only 2 survivors left and I catch them together then yes, I'll slug one and hunt the last player. That just makes sense. But if you want to "punish" me for that then that's your prerogative I suppose.

  • Lol, I hadn't thought of that before. We all need to agree on some kind of system so we understand that this is the survivors intention. Because when I'm playing killer, I usually kill first and ask questions later. Maybe if the survivor stands on a hill top and waves me over or something. Or just open and shuts a locker a couple times and then stands in the open waving. But if the survivor is progressing the game in any way when I find them then straight to the hook you go. That will be my personal rule.

  • Lol, I think they could have capped consumable stuff at 999 and we'd all be okay. But if the limit is 10k, 20k, or 100k, then that is fine too. It's not like it will ever be an issue for me.

1 2 3 4 5 … 71
