I absolutely am toying around with ideas for a Survivor, as to make it a Chapter rather than just a Killer concept. Trouble is that designing good perks for Survivors is surprisingly hard, as I don't want to make another Sprint Burst or Decisive Strike.

I understand. I hope luck comes your way because this killer is looking awesome!

I'm glad you like The Raven thus far, but I still don't consider him complete. I still intend on redoing his Teachables for a third time, until I get it right.

All we need after The Raven's completion is a survivor. I vote for Bob the Minion o-o

Now that you've provided me with this information, I can at least say that I don't think she'll be overpowered, but that just leaves behind another issue, and that's that her power simply does too much. The best Killers don't have enormously complicated powers, they have incredibly simple powers. Stuff like Nurse's Blink or Hillbilly's Chainsaw. And that's the main issue I see with the Shadow now, that her power is weak and as such has been given too much in one end to try and make it work. It just won't, in my eyes and therefore is why I strongly reccommend tossing out the whole stage part of her kit and just focus on making a dead simple power with a simple but powerful central mechanic - and then adding features like cooldown or requirement to make it work.

And sure, "she has Decimation" to make her work but you have to remember that every single Perk in the game can be used by every single character - so when you make Teachable Perks you need to have in mind now just how your Killer can use said perk, but how other Killers would make use of it. Perks like Monitor and Abuse which turned out to be the one thing Myers needed to make him work, Ruin and BBQ and Chili which literally everyone use and so on.

Plus, I don't personally buy into the idea of "hey, since Survivors have bullshit stuff why not make our own bullshit stuff?" That's just gonna make the game worse. But whatever, you do you. I just hope you can see my point, cos all I'm here for is to give my points to you so you can do with them whatever the hell you want.

  • Hex: Nevermore has been changed a little as to be more reliable, but I'm still not sure on it. I might replace it entirely at some point with a better-balanced Perk.

  • Right, this is gonna be a bit of a long one. I like your idea to an extent, and I've got quite a few pieces of feedback that I think you can make of use.

First off, her power seems... well, I'd be putting it mildly if I called it horrendously overpowered. Don't get me wrong, it's a cool idea but it simply does and gives way, way too much compared to other Killer powers.

Pull is a pretty good idea, and if you remove the Hindered application then I'd call it a perfectly balanced power right then and there. However, Feeding... that's one big bag of worms. As it drains Energy faster than Pull does, it's going to be near impossible for a Survivor to actually get to the Shadow and rescue the Survivor being fed on before they're Drained and the Shadow gets a free state buff or two.

And the states? They're completely overpowered, there's no way for me to say that otherwise. Myers wishes he could have states that powerful - free Unrelenting plus Tier 3 level lunges, a better Enduring and automatic pallet destruction, what? That can never and will never be balanced. I'd recommend that you throw them out wholesale alongside Feeding and just focus on making Pull balanced.

Your perk ideas however, I quite like. Eviscerating Strike is a good perk that encourages the Survivors to work together and isn't inherently overpowered. However, I'd reccommend that you tone down the numbers just a little bit, 50% is enough for Tier 3 Eviscerating Strike.

Adept is also a good perk that not only works with the Shadow's power, it's also a godsend for Killers who need tools for chases, Killers like Wraith, Freddy and Hag. That perk is easily the most well-designed you've made and I can only say good things about it.

Decimate however, I see an issue with. Yes, I know that you want it to be the Killer's version of Decisive but that's not a good thing. There's a reason DS is getting reworked, finally, and Decimate will just be an absolute must-take on any and all Killers. I'd reccommend it simply allows you to deactivate a Generator that's active and put it on something like 50% progression - and it definitely doesn't need the extra "15% more effective generator damaging" thing you've tacked on. Decimate absolutely does not need it.

All in all, it's a decent concept you've got. But it seriously needs a rework - throw out the unneccessary things and just focus on one Power and make it as simple as possible.

Downing that last guy just a couple steps into the exit area, then having a reverse bear trap left to put on his head... then stepping back to let them choose their fate.

    I like your style.

  • You are aware that the fear factor was going to fade no matter what, right? Eventually people get used to the game and then it isn't scary anymore.

  • The Raven's Addons have now been given descriptions as well to grant more insight into what really happened to Darius before he turned into the hateful Killer we know as The Raven.

Soon I plan to write a short story on Darius, along with a set of suggested builds on how to play The Raven out in the Fog should he ever join the game.

  • The Raven's Addons have been given a slight overhaul, with overlapping Addons having been changed a little so stacking cooldown addons isn't as strong as it once was, along with giving some of his more unique addons a bit more identity.

  • @Mrrgle_the_Mediocre said:
The first thing I notice is that Freddy would greatly appreciate Obsession: Relentless Pursuit.

Exactly - the idea behind The Raven's Teachables was that while they should work with his tunnelling playstyle, they should also work for other Killers as well. Relentless Pursuit was meant to be for Freddy what Monitor and Abuse is for Myers, for example.

  • The whole thing has been given a tidying up, plus the Very Rare cosmetic set, the Detective Set has been added. The Detective Set's purpose is to look like Darius did before the Four-Cross Killings sent him off the deep end and into the grasp of the Entity.

  • In order to make sure that there's no overlap with fellow Concept creator @LonerNova due to me accidentally creating more or less the same Mori for The Raven as for their Killer, The Crow, I've redone the Mori as to differentiate the two.

Besides, I felt like the Mori needed to be more... aggressive and hateful, as to fit with The Raven's character.

  • What in the world - turns out we came up with the exact same Mori! Ah, well I suppose you came up with it first. I'll rethink mine, in that case.

Otherwise, the Killer in itself looks fine. However, I feel like the Crow's unique perks are a little... tame? They just seem very uninteresting and not very unique - plus I see some bad balance issues in them. Grisly Gallery seems very ineffective in general, while Master of Manipulation I fear will be far, far too strong.

  • The Raven has now been given a description like every other Killer has in the Killer section that describes the general learning curve the Killer presents - in this case, The Raven is a moderately challenging Killer that demands a bit of tactical acumen from the player through Raven's Cry, not pure mechanical skill that Killers like Nurse or Huntress do.

  • The illustration is still a work in progress, but I've made a few tweaks here and there, plus written down descriptions for some additional cosmetics.

  • I never get tired of Huntress trickshots. They never, ever, ever get old.

  • Pretty good job. Eyes might be a little too big and little too low on the face, but otherwise it looks nice.

  • He's now been given a description of his cosmetics as well - soon I intend to get a comission from an artist friend of mine, who will hopefully provide a good illustration of The Raven.

I just want a fun enough round and I consider it a win. I don't care if I kill/not kill, survive/not survive as long as I got enough from the round.
There has been several 0-1k that have been way more fun to me than random 4ks. I actually quit the game for a few days when I'm forced to play some low ranks at times, because getting easy 4k is one of the most boring experience ever.

Preach it, friend. Some of the best games I've ever had was a 1k.

That being said, I really don't actually have win conditions for myself in DbD. All I think of is whether the game was fun or if it wasn't. If it was fun, I consider it a win. If not, it's a loss.

This seems like a cool killer with what seems to be a pretty amazing looking map. The Mori seems brutal and thats just fantastic. You did a good job with this one m8. ;)

Thank you very much for your feedback, sir/madam. Allow me to express my gratitude for you taking the time to read it all through. It's a bit big, so thanks again for the support.

Good, but I would call the Hex perk "Nevermore" since it's a phrase associated with ravens and grieving

You know, in hindsight I'm kicking myself for not having done that already. I'm doing that post-haste.

  • For some reason, this got posted again. Please ignore.

  • Once again, The Raven has been given a once-over. Don't Fear The Reaper has been reworked into the new Relentless Pursuit, which should be generally more effective and provide an interesting new perk choice for someone like Freddy - and Nevermore (which was far too close to Spies from the Shadows for my liking in hindsight) has been removed entirely in favor of a new Perk named Tear It Down, which should suit the Raven's very chase and pallet-break heavy playstyle a lot more, plus adding a new tool to the arsenal of Killers like Leatherface and Hillbilly.

And Raven's Cry has been reworked entirely, now simply locking you out of certain interactions like working on Generators, dropping Pallets and Totems while on a Survivor rather than a simple Action Speed penalty to give it a much more clear function (that being a pseudo Mark-of-Death).

  • ACCIDENTAL DOUBLEPOST, PLEASE IGNORE

  • If there ever was to be a Xeno Killer in the game, it wouldn't be a Queen. It'd probably just be a Drone or maybe a Warrior.

The Egg power provides you with no real options, and the tracking capability they provide you isn't very powerful. It's essentially the Doctor's power but far less useful.

Nimble Killer already exists in the form of Bamboozle. Animal Instinct is useless - Survivors rarely use lockers anyway. It's a shame, because it's an admittedly really cool idea. On The Hunt is a neat idea that I could see working, though.

Deep Breath seems to me like Iron Will but worse. Heavy Swing is a toxicity build waiting to happen but Under Pressure is a cool concept that I fear will end up being incredibly strong or near useless. It sounds like a balance nightmare.

  • Thank you for your answers, everyone. It's been a great help for me, and I'd like to thank each and every one of you for taking the time out of your day to answering my question.

  • One of the main problems I see in Wraith is that he doesn't really have any power that you can make much better with your skill as a player. I'd like him to get a secondary ability along the likes of Pig's lunge/crouch. I think that could go a long way to making Wraith a good Killer.

  • Finally, The Raven has gotten a bio. He was once a detective who ran afoul of an Entity-worshipping cult who injected him with a mysterious drug known as 'Revelation' which caused him to see visions of the Entity. Horrified and enraged he killed the entire cult and tore out his eyes so he wouldn't have to look at the Entity anymore. Now he roams the Trials in service of the Entity, his old self gone and replaced with nothing but hatred.

  • Perks have been reworked, all Addons have been completed, a bio is in the works... man, this has come far.

  • @GhostEuant Your suggestion on the removal of the Exposed part was taking into account - it worked a lot better with the reworked power. Thank you very much for the feedback.

  • The Raven's power has been reworked - it's automatic application of Exposed has been removed in favor of lasting twice as long and impeding Action Speed instead.

  • He can't because the Entity makes the Killers utterly unstoppable. You can't fight back against a Killer that the Entity has sicced on you because the Entity won't let you.

  • I've written a few more things and added a lot more Add-ons. Soon I should have a complete set of addons.

  • @GhostEuant said:
I think remove the exposed part of Raven’s Call and increase the number of ravens sent out and the cooldown to retrieve them and make the exposed an addon. So like 2-3 ravens sent out, ability has a 15 second cooldown, shows a hit survivor’s aura for 10 seconds. Also maybe instead of the charge having a cooldown, The Raven builds a charge each time they hit a survivor with Raven’s Call. I just think having both abilities need a cooldown would
    frustrate people.

The charge recovery idea for the charge part is a brilliant idea, and has been implemented. Thanks for the feedback.

    @LonerNova said:
The name startled me. I thought someone had stolen my own killer idea, and slightly changed it. The name is where the similarities end though. Sounds interesting enough, but I hate the idea of a skillcheck while moving. It's weird.

The skillcheck has been removed in favor of just making it a guaranteed mark. Thank you for the feedback.

  • I'm honestly still not sure on a lot of the things I've written down and could really use some input.

  • Hey that's pretty rad. Nice work.

  • Mourn The Fallen has been nerfed, and Addons have started to take form.

  • Re-did "Don't Fear The Reaper" and made it into something more interesting and fitting with the Raven's theme of map presence.

    PERK 1:
    "OBSESSION: DON'T FEAR THE REAPER"
Desc: You become Obsessed with one Survivor. While your Obsession is still alive, you have 20%/30%/40% increased Action Speed.

BOC? If so... good on you.

I forgot to add "while in a chase", sorry. Looking back, that would be ridiculous

  • Updated the whole thing, changed some things that were next to useless and tried to make them a bit more unique.
