Are you 100% sure that Steam is the deciding force on whether or not you're connected to BHVR's game servers? The amount of dependencies required for this to be a thing is kind of weird. I've been added to a service by 3rd party software and had that 3rd party software go down with no penalty to the target connection all the time.
Also, what's of further question is somehow you managed to have Steam disconnect you from the game only to come back online in time for the disconnection penalty to still be in effect. The amount of coincidences that have to be in play here is pretty high in number.
Hello. Are you representing any DbD official or you're just a forum member?

I'm looking at officials. Are you going to improve your disconnect detection system? Are you going to acknowledge Valve-sided disconnects? Are you going to do anything???
Are you?

All I'm hearing is salt.
I don't know why survivors unhook in front of a Trickster's face, that is precisely why lol
Do not post here if you are going for post count. You didn't watch the game, you didn't see anything.

I just played 15 games as killer without meta perks and it highlighted EVERYTHING that is wrong with this game.
Survivors get their hands held too much. I mean seriously, the devs have put zero thought into balancing this game from the start, perks are so lopsided. Survivor perks don't take into account the fact that they can have 16 perks in a game that can all work together and the killer is only allowed 4 perks that don't even take the 1v4 into account. Majority of your community has to be carried by perks because you use perks as an excuse to be lazy and not change what's really wrong.
Maps that DREADFULLY need reworks haven't received any or they received terrible reworks. The swamps, haddonfield, Gideons, Preschool, etc. They heavily favor survivors, ESPECIALLY Gideons, I mean ######### were they thinking when they reworked that.
6 of my games had a cheater/s in them, and blatant ones at that. 3 of the matches had the same exact person, one of which had a second hacker in it. Now I know there's some people out there who'll think "They weren't hacking, just get gud". True, but how about you also tell the guys who were outrunning bloodlust tier 3 to go touch some grass. All of them were rank one too (Wonder how they got there) Guess you should start looking at your top players BHVR, chances are you're balancing this dumpster fire around hackers. Imagine Minecraft having a better anti cheat than you guys do.
Stop wasting your time, the devs don't care and they never will. This game will never be balanced. Only way for this game to be balanced is to start over again and get a new team behind it because from where I'm standing, this roller coaster only goes down.
I agree with your post. I also thought that this game needs to be created again from ground up with a new engine to eliminate all bugs and glitches. For this, they would probably have to double or even triple the amount of employees currently working at BHVR. A separate team would have to work remaking this game from ground up while another team would constantly push patches/DLCs and work on the current version of the game.
We should also have casual/ranked mode in this game and be able to vote for maps. Before the match begins, all survivors plus the killer votes for a map.
DbD used to be a slow paced game before 2018. Hiding was a part of the game. Now everything, everywhere is bright and you're constantly forced to be in a chase. That's why first survivor to go down 15 seconds within the beginning of a match immediately disconnects because it is not fun. But we also have to understand that the killer is on a timer and the sooner they get a down early in the game, the more they can secure an easy win/more bloodpoints.
This is sadly the current state of the game.

I love playing as the Doctor when utilized properly, he can lock down a shack even when the pallet is dropped. I had some survivors try to loop me and I refused to break the pallet. I went to the shack window and shocked them, as I shocked, I quickly vaulted and they got stuck by the pallet that's when I downed them. Was so satisfying lol

If you weren't DCing before that, it would only be 5 minutes that would've been over once you restarted your game. Your fault for DCing so much.
There's always that person finds true meaning in life being captain obvious, right? You go on captain, save more threads in other posts!

How many times do you need to DC to get to 6 hours?
It depends. If you start from clean, sometimes your first DC may not even count so it can start from your 2nd time DCing with a 5 min dc ban. And next time you dc it increases again and again. But there were times that I got the same amount of DC ban time upon DCing in a row. For instance I DC I get 5 min and I DC again the next match it gives me 5 mins again instead of 15 mins.
So in a perfect world, 5 times of DCing should get you 6 hours of DC penalty time. But even the DC penalty system isn't accurately working as intended...

It goes from 1 hour to 6?
5min->15min->30min->1hr->6hrs->12hrs->24hrs and I don't know beyond that. The most I got was 12 hours when the system was first implemented. I would assume it doubles as you go beyond 24 hours. The thing is, I should not play the game or get lucky for 5 straight days for penalty to go back to 0. That's a problem.

6 hours is a bit extreme though. I'll be honest, I'm a fan of the odd cheeky D/C here and there, but it's never got above like 30 minutes. You can't really blame the steam downtime if you had already accrued D/Cs up to that time bracket!
(Also generally steam downtimes are planned, so you could actually plan around them.
It was 1 hour the last time I dc'd when I had a cheater in the game and today the Steam downtime cucked me. How is it that the BHVR cannot implement a system that acknowledges Steam downtimes. It is Valve that is booting people offline and BHVR automated system is slapping another DC penalty.

I can't think another online game that has a bad dc penalty system as DbD. The DC penalty system should erase over time due to good behaviour. People shouldn't have to wait for days for DC penalty to reduce. Currently I should either not play or be lucky to not disconnect from a match for 5 straight days for DC penalty time to completely go away. (6hrs->1hr->30min->15min->5min) This is a very stupid design.
