Really love the solution that every BHVR apologist on here comes up with... don't play.

If you think about it, don't play is a good solution. Don't play so they notice that the game starts dying and actually makes positive changes to it.

Everyone was complaining that the rift is too much grind and 90% are casuals, but here we are, everyone's progres is above 17.5 witch is 1/4 of a tome. And every 2 weeks new set of challenges will be released, and (if you will concistently get 17,5 tiers completing these chalenges) everyone will complete the pass. So stop complaining about anything so early.

    *laughs in lvl 14*

People can get more exhausted as the days go on. There's also people going away for holidays that are locked out of tome 4 so they have to grind all those fragments out instead with less time.

Im gonna laugh when this thing is over with aton of people having completed the rift. As it stands, plenty of people are already at rift lvl 20-30 after only 10 days, with 60 days to go.

I'm sure a lot of people are going to be finished the rift. Hardcore players are 100% guaranteed to finish with the amount they play, but i think even for the people who are willing to play 4-6 hours a day, by the end of the rift they'll be finished but they'll be completely exhausted and won't want to touch the game until the next rift. If they played a decent amount before, they probably would stop with because of the rift they added unless they start changing it by tome 2.

  • I feel like another extra bad side effect for breaking up the tomes is that too many people will be on the same quests. If they were on different quests then maybe someone will be after chests and someone needs unhooks and more people will co-operate with their teammates. If you gate it and then release it later on, everyone will need unhooks and people will just fight for them and it won't be a fun time for anyone.

If you want to avoid ppl getting burnt out, at least make the gap into 1 week so there's still a good amount of time for people to get ready for holiday, have different quests, and keep themselves entertained at the start. The closer people are to the end of the track, the more likely they'll want to buy the last few steps if they're missing them with only a day or two left. If they're really far because they got really bored of grinding for rifts in between the 2 weeks and didn't end up completing the last tome because there's not enough time, it will be hard to want to buy levels while feeling like they got cheated because there isn't enough time for that person.

There have been PLENTY of things that they've stated are "placeholder only and subject to change" that have come out exactly that way despite feedback, or with very minimal number tweaks. While they may change it, I still think it's important to reinforce that their current iteration is terrible until we see confirmation that they WILL be changed.

In regards to the grind, I don't think the overall time commitment is THAT bad, considering you can buy the remaining levels, and only that would be the net cost of your pass due to the 1k auric cell refund through levels. That said, it is still a money making strategy capitalising off the predatory fear of missing out which I detest. They say the average player should reasonably be able to complete the pass, well the average player isn't playing 1-2 hours every single day, and when they are it's even less likely that they play both killer and survivor every single night. If they aren't that adds even more hours on.

They said that their calculations are aimed at the pass being the average player playing an hour a day. They just forgot to leave out "The average player must have 0 queue times for this to be true, and they must use every available boost to XP, and complete every single challenge for this to be true."

Honestly, even with barely any queue times as survivor, trying to get a level a day is taking me closer to 3 hours a day. If i could just play an hour a day that'd be great, but i don't think that's even close to realistic.

  • 14, trying to get 15 before i sleep. Still have 3 rift fragments and i'm sure i've spent at least 2 hours getting it to 7... Didn't get any levels before the rift actually came out. Did the challenges and now i'm just doing 1 tier a day until the next tome comes out. It's pretty rough just grinding all these without challenges or anything.

I was already feeling a bit burned out on DBD before the rift arrived. Now I dread having to play at least 3~4 hours every day just to make sure I will still only have a realistic possibility of being able to complete the rift on time, even with the 11 day head start we got.

what's this 11 day head start that i've never heard about?

Considering I've already seen youtubers fork out 70 euro to buy the entire ######### Rift already, it'd be a net-negative to making it fun now. There's more profit in fishing for whales than catering to dolphins.

There is no minimum number of games to max the rifts tier lists, and no you don't have to complete every tome to max it out.

You'll eventually get to tier 70 within the 65 days left that're provided... (Of course if you play casually or just semi-regularly... The Rift rewards the consistency.

Also, the reason I say there is no minimum number of games is because i'm going off of how all players play and how some matches end longer or shorter... its entirely unknown who would be done with The Rift because of this...

If it's 800 EXP perk map, and you average idk... 300 EXP a match? that's... 3 ish matches to get 1 shard, and it's about 15 or 10 to get one tier depending on where you're on that tier? And we don't even know if the higher tiers require more shards... which i'm assuming they do.

So... yeah... I wouldn't think too much into this.

Youtubers are going to buy them regardless of whether it's fun or not. They just want the stuff immediately and to show their viewers. If they really cared about whether it's fun or not, they'd play for like tier 20 and then buy the rest, but if they buy it instantly, they would've done so even if it was easier.

There's definitely a minimum number of games you need to do, but it's hard to figure that out. Right now I'm at tier 13 and I've JUST finished Tome 1 so I'm assuming each tome gives the same amount or slightly less or more. Even that is just tier 52 for 13 x 4. You definitely need to play extra games even after completing the tomes and even more if you can't finish them.

  • The rift is making me play a lot more DBD than usual and i do like it in general. I do agree with most of the points you have. Maybe for the free track just put in some blood points or bits of IS so there's SOMETHING at least for people to look forward to. Honestly for perks and characters i don't mind because the game is generally already making you not play the way you want with the other challenges too.

Time gating tomes i hope they reduce the time gates. If they need more time for the lore readings or the cosmetics, just put a coming soon sign on it. It helps people who are more casual in the game to be able to do them when they have time. Being restricted to the last 3 weeks for Tome 4 is going to make the challenge feel even more unfair than if you had say 5 weeks.
