Oh I forgot this forum is flooded with killer mains scouring for the next survivor nerf. As a person who plays killer most of the time, I actually enjoy an equal winning on both sides. if I struggle as killer then cool, I need to get better. I take 2 or more as a win, not 4k minimum. I want to play a different game mode as survivor by myself and actually stand a chance. Is that so hard to ask?

I play both sides leaning more to survivor recently, but ok.

Why do you not apply the same "I need to get better" mentality to survivor? Must you escape on survivor to have fun?

A lot of the game experience comes from your mentality going into it.

  • Killed casual gameplay, well no, you can't really kill a playstyle everyone has the option to pick. If someone wants to casually play they can.

Solo-q has basically always sucked compared to SWF and playing killer, but it's not impossible to escape or have a good time.

Playing casual is a choice of mindset going into the match, if you don't feel like you can play casually that's on you.

Having a casual good time doesn't mean you have to win.

Dude, there's like 20 replies in a few minutes time, I'm gonna be able to keep track of every single one of them.

And here's an example of unfair survivor gameplay:

Unbreakable, no mither, soul guard, breakout, 2 hook distance offerings, 1 basement offering in the killershack, 1 Springfield offering. Lure the killer to the school's basement and keep him there while 1 survivor works on gens.

That's a borderline exploitive one, but it's just an example of what is possible.

From what I know a pretty rare occurrence, camping is not.

There will always be ######### people on both sides, but from the general discussions, you can see camping being discussed far more than survivors exploding maps.

How does it punish fair killer, you didn't explain.

  • After the latest patch a lot of people have started playing killer more, longer killer que is to be expected.

Try survivor, or just sit through the long killer que.

Not much else you can do

  • Often the challenges encourage me to play the game, after 900+ hours it gets a bit stale so a secondary challenge is fun.

Some of the challenges prompt a different build or playstyle, like the rescue or sabo challenges, to me its fun.

I have never throws to get them, but that's just my experience :)

But it also works when there are 0 gens left. And when 3-4 gens are gone, camping might be necessary just to gain back some ground. Having no risk of losing reassurance would punish killers for playing fair and reward survivors for playing unfair.

Camping at 5 gens is playing unfair and should be punishable accordingly. Camping at 1 gen might be necessary or survivors 3-genning themselves with a hook in the center(aka putting themselves in an avoidable situation) isnt really camping either, but the killer would lose because survivors misplayed.

    That doesn't make sense.

The other fix I had in mind is to entity block the hooked survivor during the same time, so they can't be unhooked and give killers a reason to leave the hook without it being a free unhook.

"Maybe disable it for when gens are powered, sounds more reasonable to me."

I literally wrote about the whole "its active after 5 gens" in my first response, did you not read it?

Also how do survivors play "unfair" im not familiar with it?

Also talking about killers playing fair and camping in the same message is funny. And how is Reassurance punishing fair killers?

  • Nothing in dbd makes me laugh harder than watching a killer get blast mined, best of all nobody expects it!

  • Saboteur 8/10 if it's in the lobby it's a SWF, ready to make sure you have 0 fun that match.

The problem of being multiple use, is that you can have 4xreassurance used multiple times, and kinship on everyone.

That's 4 minutes of camping on 1 surv. You can fix all gens in that time if the killer camps, multiple use is just overkill at that point.

That's the point though? If you are camping a survivor, one to activate reassurance, and the rest can do the gens making the camping pointless.

    Easy fix = stop camping

  • Making it a one-time use, to me at least, kinda ruins the whole point of the perk.

The whole thing seems to try and stop face camping, if it's only usable once they will just camp through that one use, making it pointless.

Maybe disable it for when gens are powered, sounds more reasonable to me.

  • I wouldn't say it's REQUIRED, personally, I mostly use it for solo-q. When I duo with my friend, maybe one of us runs it. There is no question that it's very helpful, but not something you NEED to win.

Don't let other people tell you what perks to run, you bought the game you get to pick how you want to play.

Well you can doubt all you want but unless you can see what the person is doing IRL, read minds or they tell you in chat, you don't know their reason. Why even make a new post to ask "why" if you have already decided it's because they don't want to play and won't accept any other input on the matter.

Not "decided" anything Ofc I cant know for sure but just noticing a pattern in the timing of the AFK's that would make me think it's a refusal to play :/

  • @TheArbiter said:

Against a plague i can see why, the others you listed I wouldn't be sure. Do you play plague the most?

No Plague is just occasional, I main dredge but love meme killers like Pig, Ghostface and The Twins.

What's wrong with playing Plague? I get dislike going against certain killers, but to the point of AFK is ridiculous to me. What you aren't having fun, so nobody else can because you are throwing the game going AFK? That's not only selfish but also childish.

Maybe they had to do something mid game

It's one of those things you're just not going to know. It could be they don't want to play or it could be something happened where they had to go AFK for a bit.

If they are in a locker I'd say a lot of the time they might have had someone happen IRL. If I'm playing and I have to answer the phone/door etc. I'll go into a locker with the hopes I'll be back in time before I get crows.

I doubt they had any reason other than refusing to play, it would be consistent with seeing my killer then refusing to play. One game lasted 20min cuz because a survivor had hidden the entire game in a basement locker.

I really enjoyed playing this game before but it changed a lot ever since the big update and now it feels virtually impossible to win unless the killer is afk or something.

I spent a lot of money on the game because I really really liked it but I'd like to know since I can't play it anymore can I please have the money back?

    Thank you

Personally, my escape rate on survivor hasn't changed much, is it harder? sure, but not impossible.

It's not like you physically can't play it, it seems like you just aren't enjoying it because you are losing.

Perhaps try practicing, it will still suck while you are getting better. But maybe you will have more fun if you get better? :)

  • God forbid you have to heal a teammate in a teamwork-based game?

  • "I don't know, maybe I've just been lucky but the new patch seems to have weeded out a lot of the toxic bullying and gameplay. It has been so refreshing and fun to play"

I think you are right, people who got used and entitled during the last meta, are refusing to adapt to the patch and just quitting. You could even see a bunch of "quitting" posts on the forum. Ofc there will always be entitled jerks, but they exist in any game.

Having played the game on and off the last 4 years, I personally enjoy the community now more than ever :)

Be the change you want to see!

I don't see the point of 1V1s in a game with map RNG like this.

I would think being able to work around the RNG is a skill in itself, making use of what they have available. But yeah probably not the most exact way to measure skills.

So how WOULD you measure skills between two players?

I remember someone on my team calling me bad because I died in endgame once, so I asked them to 1v1. They called themselves the best survivor on console and said they could run any killer for seven minutes. So I played Nurse. His longest chase was 25 seconds. Then he complained that Nurse is a 1v1 was unfair, so I played Blight. His longest chase was 37 seconds. Then he complained that Blight was unfair, so I played Trapper. His longest chase was 31 seconds.

I don't necessarily mind 1v1s, but most of them seem to go the way I just described. So for the most part, they're a joke.

That so embarrassing! People are so fast to talk a big game when their ego is hurt. It's some weird sort of pissing contest for sure, but no less entertaining!

  • @TheWheelOfCheese said:

It could be an indicator of chase skill, but that's about it. Both sides have a lot of types of skill not directly related to chase.

The whole argument was my teammate calling our killer trash (after dying), then challenged him to a 1v1 (which my former teammate won) was just confused if it's a common occurrence

  • It looks like a weird love-child between Wraith and Hag, not sure how it would work in-game.

However, not being able to see survivors when "Observer" and having to rely on them triggering traps, or leaving "Observer" leaves much room for issues.

Question: Is there a cooldown on switching between the states - If not that's very broken.

  • Solo-q as basically everyone agrees sucks, however, I think a lot of it is affected by the generally negative opinion, to begin with.

If you enter a game expecting to lose, you are gonna have a worse experience. Not to mention it's easer to focus on the bad games, thats just how human memory works.

People with no hooks won't take hits? It's solo-q, they have no way of knowing if THEY will be saved if they go down for a stranger. The game does not directly reward team play, especially after removing "We are gonna live forever"'s XP boost.

It's the game design that is at fault, as much as it is the solo-q experience.
