  • Wow this is awesome. It's a balancing nightmare of course with so many things going on but i think you've done a really good job to make it fair, especially how all killer's are good at things but then can't do other things, a lot like playing the twins but on steroids. My favourite part is how you've incorporated all of the L4D infected with all their abilities too. I was thinking of doing a L4D killer but was only thinking of one, i.e. the tank, witch or boomer.

Only one question though - Does the boomer also use his vomit via right click? or is his only ability to explode? if that's the case no one would stun the boomer and he'd be useless.

  • I'm not sure the power is the right fit for Art. The killer you're describing is something that would apply to a literal ghost or demon, not a killer clown. I think something more reasonable would be for him to have some things to do with his brutalising of victims and maybe taunting them.

    Here's a quick idea i thought of:

Like maybe he can place taunts (like i.e. mangled cats or corpses or whatever) around as traps that make survivors scream or some other effect, perhaps building up a terrified meter. He could then brutalise them when terrified, like maybe doing some unique mori animation that makes the survivor lose a hook state, or become broken or something and then get a massive speed boost away from him.

  • Was thinking the same thing for discord. League of legends has discord integrated stuff that says what character and game mode players are playing. Would be cool for DBD to see what killer your friends are playing etc.

  • Wow! I really like the visualisations you've done with Garrys Mod. I think a Doom chapter would be very fitting but I'm just wondering who would make for the most fitting killer? The Hell Knight is cool but he feels too much like a normal enemy to be worthy of a killer. Perhaps the Baron of Hell? who would effectively have the same moves but he just has Horns too. The Cyberdemon or Cacodemon would also make Good killers but have some sizing issues.

Overall I like the idea and the power - a leaping killer is something yet to be seen in Dead By Daylight, however I feel like it needs to be more complex than just hold the button and leap in order to work in the game because if its that simple the killer would probably either be very overpowered or very underpowered.

I like this idea, but there's a few issues I'd like to point out.

Number one. 'You're Being Hunted' .

This almost exactly mirrors the way that Bloodhound functions right now, and that is a more easily accessible perk belonging to Wraith, who is a free Killer and therefore not licensed. Why would we have any reason to be using this over Bloodhound?

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/BLZFYXKW7S6J/image.png

    Secondly, 'Paleontologist' sounds pretty game-breaking.

You're not going to sit there and tell me that Survivors should be given the ability to have the Killer's perks revealed outright -- albeit for a limited time -- instead of forcing them to learn, just like Killers have to...

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/HV8SMHDL6WYV/image.png

Third. Both 'Distraction Flare' and 'Don't Move' sound considerably weak.

The flare should be replenishable, or at least have a few uses. By the sounds of it, you're pitching for a perk that grants a barely-buffed flashlight which has an AOE as oppsoed to an aiming mechanic... and one with only one use. That's a waste of a perk slot in my opinion.

And as for Don't Move, having the crows circle you seems absolutely unnecessary, and just a pointless downside of using the perk. Otherwise, this seems like a perk perfectly suited for being a Survivor version of Insidious.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/8OQ1WWKLJOBR/image.png

Lastly, 'Primal Botany' is just plain useless. Gaining a 1-3 second speed boost is not even situational. It's pointless. It'd need to be at least a base of 9 or 10 seconds to even be permissible by most standards.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/K3LSKK85CX5C/image.png

But other than that, a great concept. I actually wasn't for a Jurassic Park/World chapter before this... and I'm glad I stopped by this. Good job.

You're being hunted lets you see blood THROUGH WALLS. Bloodhound doesn't do that. Its less of a survivor following tool as much as it is a tool to help you find injured survivors better.

I do agree about Distraction flare and Don't move. I had finished this concept before leon and jill were added who had their own flashbang / mine items. The thing about the flare in my mind though is that it's not like the fire crackers or flashbang, it instantly blinds the killer at maximum duration and brightness as long as they're looking anywhere near it, plus it lasts longer. Essentially a flashlight on mega-steroids, forcing the killer to leave the area where its placed.

Paleontologist only lets you see the perk icons in the corner of your screen for a few seconds. Would require survivors to memorise the perks by their icon.

And finally, Primal Botany is just a free sprint burst when healed (I wasn't sure of the numbers of sprint burst second-wise). I could see this being incredibly strong in SWF if you 99% everyones heal you have a free sprint burst. Also kind of an anti-tunnel perk where if you heal a survivor and the killer is coming via BBQ or whatever you can finish healing them to let them get good distance on the killer that might be specifically tunneling them.

Just thought i'd clarify what I imagine theyd look like in game as I try to keep the perk descriptors more brief. But for the most part your criticism is fair.

i think it looks cool but the raptors are to big and the animations when they are turning would look strange and if a raptor hooks a survivor would also look strange

sorry for my english im german

I don't think it would - the raptors aren't too big at all. They're about the height of a person and for the most part their arms and legs work the same way so all their hooking and grabbing animations still work. The problem is their length or their tail. It would require Behaviour to work out some kind of ragdoll physics on the tail to make it look more realistic rather than it clipping through stuff.

Love the idea of having a animal as a killer really adds a new concept different from others

Perks are solid and don't break the game being reasonably although I would reduce enraged beast probably because I have a preference over that stuff

Really admire the thoughts of how addons would be presented along with details of moris and cosmetics are really unique

Thanks ! I really love concepts of non-human or monster / animal killers because, besides demogorgon, the game is severely lacking any monsters. A Bear in my mind fits perfectly to the game because it is not only big and scary, but can adopt humanoid stature and animations too.

Also I agree with lowering the timer on the exposed effect, however I can't edit the text because its an image copy from Onenote. I think a max of about 6-7 seconds would be more reasonable.

I don't myself, though we could still get a few more skins. They've covered the mains, but we're still missing Barry and Wesker. I also love (LOVE) RE7 so I think it would be great to have Jack and Marguerite as killers but I also think that it would be difficult to find a place for them. Without spoiling the game for anyone who hasn't played it Jack's most logical role as killer would be one that's already the same as some other killers and Marguerite has specific gameplay elements that make her threatening which couldn't really be pulled off well in this game (in the practical sense).

I'm surprised that I've never seen anyone else mention Mia, I'd like having her as a survivor. Same with the other guy, what's his name? The brother? Joe Don Baker of the swamp? Lol punchy grizzly man. Can't recall his name.

I think Jack Baker would have a place in DBD as a unique killer. Call him 'The Moulded' or 'The Father' or something, lore wise he'd be a very unique killer - an unwilling but crazed father. And gameplay wise, I like the idea of a third Chainsaw character simply because chainsaws are an icon of horror and I can't get enough of them. His scissor chainsaws could work differently like perhaps he can do long range stabs over windows and pallets, or perhaps add an element of temporary terrain destruction that the entity quickly repairs. Like Imagine him busting through an L loop with his big chainsaw scissors to down you. Maybe even throw in some passive ability where he leaves pools of mould that can become moulded ai or something?

In terms of chapters, I honestly see potential for 2 extra chapters; An RE7 and an RE8 chapter. RE7 would be Jack Baker and Mia Winters, RE8 obviously Lady Dimitrescu and Ethan Winters.

  • @Zeus said:

It is super unlikely that it's RE8 themed. The game wasn't even released when the devs got hold of the license and since there is no prior data whatsoever about whether it will go well with the fans or not, it's unlikely that the devs would take the risk.

That's true, but never underestimate the power of marketing. If Capcom wanted the chapter to come out alongside resident evil 8 to market it, they would make that happen even if the characters aren't necessarily popular at that time. Plus I think Lady Dimitrescu sort of blew up as an iconic character before the game came out, appearing all over the internet via memes etc.

Personally I wouldn't feel one way or another about this but I do have to say that Gollum isn't really built for a killer role. He bites Frodo or Sam (I forget) and that's about it. Sorry...

That's Judging entirely from the movies. I haven't read the books but I think just as a general Gollum is designed to be a twisted and cunning monster and as we've seen in the hobbit when he kills a goblin with a rock he is more than capable of killing and is quite strong. If he were to ever get into the game I'm sure Behaviour could have some creative liberties to make him a more feasible killer.

  • I was considering doing a Gollum concept before I saw this! But the feast and hop abilities are perfect! They would be original and fun to use. The only thing I'd want instead is a different ability for the one ring. Perhaps Sméagol carries the one ring and every time he performs a hop he drops the one ring on the ground. With the ring he is almost silent, effectively a stealth killer, without the one ring he has his terror radius but is faster. He has to go and interact to pick the ring back up or after a timer like the twins.

  • Whilst this is cool and I always love concepts of unexpected cross-overs (I was considering doing a LOTR one, but for Gollum) I just think that there's something innately wrong with the power. The passive is pretty good but I think the issue is that his active power feels more like a second power tied to the ctrl button because it is on a 60 second timer. All of the killers thus far (except for trapper) have a power that you can use whenever during the course of the match, making it their 'active ability power'. Having an ability that doesn't really help you chase, slow, down or trap survivors AND a 60 second cooldown would make Sauron feel like a literal M1 killer with no ability. Just my thoughts, an ability on a killer should never have a cooldown. Maybe make this his secondary ability (left CTRL) and make him have a simple attack ability perhaps like 'Eye's focus' where the nearest survivor experiences searing pain due to Sauron's gaze, screaming and being slowed for the next 10 seconds and getting a status effect etc.

  • @GaiaVellir said:

I like the concept a lot, and that m2 is juicy. However I feel like the Giants Bellow might be on too long of a cooldown to be useful. Maybe 60-90 seconds I would say. Might want to have Bellow make survivors scream as well, otherwise they'll likely be over terrified by the time you actually find them. Lost hope feels like a weaker version of infectious fright IMO. Blindness isn't really useful against good survivors unless they are running OoO in which case, at least in my experience, they probably aren't running anything except a med-kit they intend to use exclusively for themselves or a key. Monstrous footsteps probably would only work once on any decent survivor before they realize what you're running and just ignore it, could be fun for low ranks though. Fit of Rage though I like, A LOT! That's a genius idea IMO. Overall I think this could have some potential if the devs would give it a look.

I was considering making it reveal auras or screams, but i was just avoiding making it too similar to the Doctor's ctrl button. Perhaps a shorter cooldown would be best for it.

  • Also as a side note, given the inclusion of Legendary skins in the game now. Patrick Bateman from American Psycho could be a perfect swap out for Jack Torrance since they both use the same weapon. The twins would just be replaced with something else during the Cabin Fever affect, which could be renamed insanity or something.

  • I'm fairly sure by "It's inception" they're referencing the license. For example, it would be like, Friday the 13th's inception rather than Jason's inception which is how you're reading it. Because the Chapter comes with a survivor too, and so it's not solely the killer being focused on.

  • @Cradmeg said:

The only problem with having a dog killer is ....... how will he hang the survivors on the hooks ??? It makes no sense ! Personally I think someone like Jack The Ripper as a killer and having the map take place in Old England with cobblestone streets and gas burning street lamps and horse and buggys , or Dracula set in an old Transilvania castle with him having the ability to morph into a bat to blend in with the birds , Heres another ... Norman Bates and the map in the Bates Motel . These to me are more realistic ideas for killers , but thats just my 2 cents .

I outlined how he does it in the post. He's a giant dog, probably comparable more to a horse than a dog in size. He can hold survivors in his huge mouth and they just hang in it 1-2 feet off the ground, and then he simply stands on his hind legs and dumps them on the hook roughly. Quite simple really.

  • @DetailedDetriment said:

This was a great movie, but I don't think PETA would take too kindly to smashing wooden pallets over the head of a dog.

Demogorgon can equip a pet cat's guts as an addon ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • @horrorfilmn3rd said:

At first I was a little skeptical, but the thought that you put into the power and perks really impressed me. Overall, I really like the concept and hope that at least some of your ideas are added to the game in the future.

About the survivor though, I think the mom who was trapped in the car with her son would be a good candidate. She could have a perk where after exiting a locker, she searches chests (and maybe heals or repairs) faster. Maybe a perk that boosts repair speed the farther she is from the nearest survivor too.

Thanks a lot for the compliment! I really love making in depth concepts for fun and it's nice to get responses. In terms of a survivor, I decided Cujo would be better as a standalone, because the way I see it, survivors just as much as killer's deserve to be recognisable iconic characters if they are licensed, otherwise you have a case like Quentin where no one really knew who he was and they're overshadowed by the killer. But that perk sounds really unique and fitting to the character. I could also see other perks fitting into her trope/ style as a 'protective mom'. Maybe even involving a baseball bat like what was used to kill Cujo in the film.

Yeah I know, I was just thinking it could be a back up idea since this is a really good thought up concept. For instance if this forum gets forgotten in time you could just make it into a Black shuck killer. Just a thought since I don't know if lot of people know enough about the movie to get enough hype going and that could be a back up plan.

I do see what you mean and that would make a cool original killer. Especially given the black shuck's appearance in Annabelle Comes Home. But I also think the rabies mechanic is too Cujo-specific and liked the idea they had in Anabelle 3 that the black Shuck could materialise out of and control fog.

  • @Revzi100 said:

    survivor idea?

I put paragraph IV at the top so he's just a standalone killer because in the book/ film there's not really any survivor worthy, memorable characters.

  • @Mr_Madness said:

Too be honest I don't think they would add CUJO but this could work for a Black Shuck killer

I'm not saying they're gonna add Cujo. This is a concept for him as a killer...

  • Please let me know what you guys think and what I can improve.

  • The Dog, The Hound, or The Rabid (Cujo)
