Because it's too much like hard work in comparison to making a pretty costume and selling it for twice the price of a DLC.
Also we don't forget the "play another game, play civilization" thing that devs adviced in a live stream...
Like "we don't give a damn about you players. We don't care and we don't listen you. If you don't like our game, quit..."
So insulting to their players....
I'm so frustrating about it...

Survivor bots do not need to be given much more programming to face off against different killers - they just need to be basic in approach. Sure, you can use an if/then line of code to make a survivor drink from a fountain if they are fully infected from the plague, and have already been hooked once. That's not much code at all. Other than this, all you really need is for bots to repair gens, cleans hex totems, heal allies, and generally run away from killers. They do not have to be THAT strong. They don't even need to use active ability perks. Having ANY survivor at all is better than a DC - the Killer will have to chase them and kill them, yes, but the killer gets the satisfaction of eliminating a survivor and they have to take time to kill them - which frees up time for other survivor players.
Likewise, you may say that playing against an M1 hillbilly is boring - but having a Hillbilly that only M1s and is a relatively easy mark is a lot more interesting than a killer that DCs and sends you back to Que with a handful of points.
There may be logistical concerns, but they have the AI packets and they could make an injector to take over once someone disconnects.
Seriously, this technology has been around since 2009. There aren't any excuses.
Indeed. You only need dumb bots. No need special programming. Just their starting perks just to be able to test the killers skills.
if you want to take it further, i have wrote in another post that you can add difficulties on bots. From the menu you can choose 1-4 survivor bots and next to them their difficulty (easy, medium, hard). Many games have this option, games that also have a solo story and mode. I don't understand what is so difficult to add. DOTA, CS etc had maps with bots 15-20 years ago. I don't believe a game that is only 5-6 years old, can't have this option.

I agree that when this game fires on all cylinders it's an absolute blast to play! There is indeed something special about DBD that keeps players coming back. But when you refuse to listen to your player base year after year, it's going to affect the game in a big way.
On Steam the all-time high amount of players was well over 100,000, today it's roughly 40,000. They lost over half of their player base, and yet they're still sticking to their guns and refusing to implement highly requested features, including fighting with their community over such nonsense like SBMM. Watching Patrick compare an asymmetrical 4v1 game to a team-based game like hockey was absurd. Not only do killers and survivors not share the same objectives, but the Killer is all on their own. Asymmetrical games are so far removed from team-based games like hockey that I don't know what he was thinking making that comparison.
Honestly, at this point it feels like the devs just want this game to crash and burn so that they can move on to other things. I've never seen a dev team like BHVR complain so consistently about how hard it would be to implement so many QOL things that are just commonplace in other games.
I want to continue playing this game, but as a solo player it just isn't any fun. These days I watch streamers play the game because I myself don't want to go through 20 matches like they do before I come across that one good match that makes DBD shine. I don't have the time or the energy for that. When I get home at the end of a long work day, I want to sit down with a game that helps to take my mind off things and entertain me, and sweating my ass off while I'm trying to learn a new killer doesn't exactly do that.
I also quitted. I play solo, i love killer but killers are really unplayable these days. There are only for experts.
I also watch streamers and hold back. I don't want to play anymore i hated it.
It's not killer friendly and as you mentioned, i was with my 10 lvl killer against 50 lvl survivors with full perks unlocked.
It was a massacre and i din't even have one hook in 5 games.
Unfortunately that's the truth. I hope you all have fun.
-
New player here (Killer main- close to 100 hours). I have read many posts in this forum and i agree most that killers are quiting.
Judging by the fact that i quitted a few days ago, i can say the game is really unplayable for killers. The MMR sucks and i end up with one good game (2 - 3 hooks) and 20 games that i have 1 hook. There is no balance. NO BALANCE. I'm trying to play different killers just to learn them and i get the same. One good game and many that i hate the game.
It's really funny to see the end screen and understand that survivors have all the purple perks and you have only 2 brown (10 lvl)!!!!!
That is the "good" Match Making!!"It's so balanced"
What is the reason then to continue playing? I don't progress, i have experiened survivors that mokking me, stay in the exit gate spamming sounds all the time, yelling and having fun over me, while im a just fcking 10 lvl!!!
Another silly thing is how MMR counts hooks etc... Cmon guys. Having 10 hooks doesnt mean you are skilled. Ok you have a good match and you kill 2-3 survivors that they are beginners like you and they are still learning the game (the problem of missing solo mode that we talked in many posts). Next match gives you 4 elite survivors and you are lucky if you have 1 hook!!!
I don't accept the excuse of "fast game". I'd rather wait 10 minutes for a good and BALANCED Match Make than get in the game in 30 secs - 1 min and hate my life for the next 15 mins.
Also, you have to consider that the game was free in Epic store at the start of December, and many new people have tried the game. Unfortunately i hear only complains and the majority of them have already quit.
The most remaining killers are only streamers who are really experienced like Otz, Hex and Tofu and i believe they are the reason the game is still alive.
If things don't change dramatically in the future, game will get worst.. Really worst..
And people who now have questions that "If the killers are quitting" they will be sure by then. Killers are quitting....
PS: A friendly advice: Respect other players! They waste time and money to be in this game and if the game isn't fun anymore then they will sure quit. Noone likes to be mokked, yelled and face toxic behavior. Not all players are the same and sure in a community there will be some morons. That doesn't mean that the next opponent will be the same.
This is a game and should be fun for all the people. If it is not there is no reason to play it.
Be respectfull and polite to other players.
-
I heard the answer they gave and i was really dissapointed.
Even 15 years ago, there were AI Bots in custom maps of DOTA. I was playing without internet (15 years ago mobile internet was really expensive) and i had to chose how many AI bots i want to be with me or opponents and the scale of difficulty (Easy, Medium, Expert).
So 15 years later i can't believe that they can't add a SOLO game mode with AI Bots that you just have to choose their difficulty and experiment perks and tactics in the battle. It would be a good addiction and we will avoid the whole toxic matter in DBD.
I wish they will add this feature in the future.
-
I don't know what happened at the first month of the new MMR that people mention that it was really good. I wasn't playing then.
I'm a new player (main killer) and i really struggle in games to get at least 1 hook.
The main problem with the new MMR system is that IT IS NOT BALANCED.
I play huntress 10 lvl with brown perks and i face survivors with full purple perks that they just are moking me.
It is so unbalanced. I have one good game killing 2 survivors and then 20 games that i have 1-2 hooks.
It's definately not beginner friendly and it doesn't help beginners learn and undrstand the game. I you can't experiment with your perk build you will never learn it.
I suppose the old system was more balanced because in 10 lvl you face opponents which as close to you 10-15 lvl. You didn't have to face experienced opponents at 50 lvl.
That's not fair.
I don't know what is going on with the game but i believe this is the main reason that i will quit.
In every game in the world level matching is the best. Here this doesn't work...
That's really bad because it is a really good game but at this point it is not fun.
Noone has fun losing all the time and gets moked by survivors all the time.

The whole point here is this game shouldn't be competitive seeing how handicapped so many of the killers are compared to that of the survivors, especially in pairs or groups of 3 or 4.
Every m1 killer feels the sluggish movement in chase. Evert m1 killer is a walking simulation on every survivor for the first several minutes of the game bc of pallets being all up, and speed perks like lithe, SP, etc.... then add in dead hard when they finally do catch up.
There's no competition against most groups that sit on gens while 1 or 2 take up 3 or 4 minutes of the killers time for 2 hooks.
Then the game ends. 5 or 6 minutes in. Killer has 3 or 4 hooks total. A hundred broken pallets, and feels like he sucks when in reality he doesn't suck necessarily, it's just the handicap of that particular killer.
Throw in survivor egos and you have a miserable time bc these poor bastards go in thinking they have a real fighting chance at dominating matches bc it's set up to be competitive yet devs slap on loads of obstacles and second chance perks
It's all designed to dely the time it takes for killers to actually down each survivor. It only takes 5 or 6 minutes to pop all the gens.
It's a losing battle for most killers from the start with the way its set up at the moment.
I feel for anyone that goes in thinking they are going to 4k and do well. It's a gamble.
Mmr is good to me for the tier down aspect. (If it works) in theory, if you have a terrible time, and lose massively, the next game should be a little better and so forth
The old system wasn't like that. This in theory should help you have better matches the more you lose. Etc...
Does it work? Who knows? I had a good day yesterday.... will I today? I dunno. We'll see.
All I know is I used to have full days where I got stomped every match to the point it was comical. Mmr should fix that.
I totally agree with you. If you add to this that many times i face survivors that are way better than me, you complete the puzzle. The last 2 days i face with my 10 lvl killer and brown perks, survivors with full purple perks who knows the game way better.
The game isn't beginner friendly. You get a match with 3 kills and then 10 matches with 1 hook at your best. Same person same killer.
You face survivors that they just mokking you as you described. 1 or 2 take the chase and the other 2 makes the gens - end of the game.
I rarely face survivors who pair my level and my abilities. I know i'm new to the game (30 hours) but that doesn't mean i don't want to learn it.
The resume is we all want to have fun. I want to enjoy the game. And i don't enjoy the game if i face opponents with 1000 hours and full unlocked perks. There is no balance in this game.
i don't have problem to wait 10-20 minutes for a nice balance game with opponents similar to me.
I have problem if i go in on 2 minutes and i hate my life playing this game for the next 15 minutes. This really sucks.
-
I don't understand what is going on and how MMR works.
Im a new player (16 lvl) and i still have many killers at lvl 1.
I thought (like othe games do) that the game matches you with players at your level.
From what i see 3 days now in a row (i started playing a new killer) i'm at lvl 10, i have brown perks and the game matches me with survivors who all have purple perks and they are in really higher rank. 2 days now i can't play for fun because it matches me with really experienced survivors who 4E all the time.
This really sucks guys.
I supposed that if your killer is lvl 10, the game matches you with lvl 10-15 survivors not with 50 lvl survivors with all perks unlocked.
Unfortunately i haven't got any sceenshot but i think you know what i mean and you have seen this a lot.
Is it a bug or the game is like that?
Will this ever change?

You're kind of ignoring the undercurrent of toxicity in the game, with a reply like that.
Who cares if it affects me or not. Who cares if the insults actually affect anyone or not. They should still be discouraged. But this game seems to have this undercurrent of 'It's okay to be an #########' coupled with 'Why do the Killers do things I don't find fun?' and/or 'Why is the Killer not thinking of MY fun?'
There was a reply either today or yesterday in another thread where someone literally said 'I get sweaty killers going for the 4K instead of trying to have fun'. And that is the mindset I'm referring too; this idea that Killers are responsible for Survivor fun, and should stop 'sweating for the 4K'. IE: They should stop trying to win, because it makes Survivors sad.
Again; this is the only PvP game I've ever played where one side thinks the other side should consider their fun, and play accordingly.
I've never heard of this excuse in LoL, Fortnite, Overwatch, Planetside 2, PUBG, Dark Souls PvP circles, CSGO, TF2, Armello, DBFZ, Street Fighter, Tekken, Mortal Kombat, etc. etc.
But in DBD, for some unholy reason, each side seems to think 'My fun' is an excuse for balance. They also think it's an excuse to shame the 'other side' for how they play, and demand the 'other side' play according to their own 'fun'.
You what to know something, readers? DBD is known for having one of the most toxic player bases in current gaming.
When New World launched, and PvP players were demanding PvE players be forced to PvP, or PvP players be allowed to push PvE players off gathering nodes, and PvP players literally claiming they're just better human beings than 'scrubby PvE players'; I actually saw someone say 'This community is horrible' and one of the first replies was 'No way. You want a horrible community? Play DBD.'
You don't counter toxicity by ignoring it & letting the spewers continue to act this way to other people.
You stop these mindsets, from both sides, at the bud. You punish toxicity by confronting it and removing it, not ignoring it. And since the developers have said they don't care, and anything short of racism and death threats is fine; it's up to the community to be the adults that the devs are too lazy to be.
We, the players, need to tell our teammates that it's not cool to insult the Killers.
We, the players, need to not insult Survivors AS the Killer.
We, the players, need to be good sports, win or lose, regardless of what perks and tactics are used. It does not matter if you, I, or Bill or Dwight and Ghostface think a perk is 'cheap' or 'OP' or 'unfair'; that is no excuse to treat another human being like garbage.
And part of that is to stop this toxic mindset that you (royal 'you'; not the person I quoted or anyone specific) are owed fun. Or you expect the other team to consider your fun over their attempt to win.
It's an unreasonable expectation. Both sides are trying to win and, short of cheats or unintended exploits; they have a right to try to win however they want. And it gets frustrating, as a Killer, when Survivors bring 4 meta perks each, play as hard as they can (and have a right too), and then scream at me over the perks I chose & the tactics I employed, because 'my fun' is an accepted excuse to be a miserable human being to someone else.
Every player, every healthy minded person should think like that in every game.
This is a general rule and advice. Games are for fun.
We struggle in our RL, we struggle in our families, we struggle in our routine and gaming is life savior.
If we ruin games we ruin FUN, we ruin the special moments we have during the day for our pleasure.
The moments we enjoy, we forget our problems, WE HAVE FUN.
If we ruin our games, and get bully and toxicity it's better for us to quit and watch a movie.
Don't let toxic people ruin DBD. All the friends and the teammates should talk if they see such a behavior.
"You don't counter toxicity by ignoring it & letting the spewers continue to act this way to other people.
You stop these mindsets, from both sides, at the bud. You punish toxicity by confronting it and removing it, not ignoring it. So in conclusion, if i have understand well, the survivors are going mad, they gain toxicity, mock and bully, because the KILLER, who his job to win is to KILL, KILLS the survivor in order to win the game.
So survivors don't want KILLERS to do their job, which is to KILL, because it will make the KILLER win and this is not good for survivors...
So KILLERS are bad because they KILL to win and they must not KILL, according to survivors, because they will win.
So KILLERS must never win this game, according to survivors.
Great....!!!
👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏

As i have mentioned in another topic, for me as killer, the problem isn't if i get a 4K.
MY problem is that the survivors have the need to mock and bully the killer, especially beginners.
It's a game and i really don't have a problem of 4E, i for sure, congratulate the survivors for doing it, IF they have played legit, without cheating and bullying the killer. Relax guys, you are 4 vs 1. If your strength, your ego and your brutality comes out if you bully or mock a poor killer then you are pathetic. Killers are also players who are on the opposite site BUT THEY MUST HAVE A RESPECT AS A PLAYER. If you don't respect other players, then don't ask for respect to yourself.
On the other hand, survivors have a problem if a killer gets 4K, if he camps, etc. This is the fcking game. A camping Killer doesn't moke you, or bully you and it isn't against the game rules. That doesn't mean that he doesn't respect you. These are 2 different things.
The killer uses his only way he has to win the game. You have to deal with it. Unfortunately the game mechanics for the killer to win is hooking and bleeding, if you like it or not.
I wish there was a way for him to win just throwing flowers to you. Does this will make you feel better? This is the game and those are the game's mechanics. Bad behaviour, bullying, mocking, toxicity are a different things.
If you do this you are acting like kilds. Like my 4 yo son who can't stop me when i feed him with spinach and he throws me his plate.
Grow up and act like adults and not like kids.

Thanks for your answers guys.. I'm mainly playing a game with the best community in gaming industry and all of these are really weird for me.
I will follow your advices to chill and play when i feel i want just to play (1 or 2 games per day) just for fun and i will not pay attention to any ######### people.
I really appreciate your answers willing to help me get over this stupidity.
Happy new year to all of you!

I have just been informed that there are bully squads.. That explains a lot to what i have seen in my games.
Is it true? That they are friends playing as a squad just to bully killers?

I had friends that played this game that helped to show me the ropes, but I 100% agree that this game needs a proper bot mode to allow new players to practice. The tutorials barely scratch the surface of what you need to know. Not to mention practicing with Killers you've never played with before in live matches is an abysmal experience. It's like being thrown into the deep end of the pool when you don't know how to swim.
You are lucky. I don't have friends who play this game. Had only one who helped me just see how 3-4 killers play.
Unfortunately, if you stay in the started tutorial it's just a simple "how to move" and nothing more. After that it is chaos.
-
@pseudechis "Some people will leave you all to bleed out but that's 4 mins its not that long, it ends of its own accord. It can be frustrating because as survivor there isn't a lot you can do about it when it happens other than wait it out."
I never do this. I always try to hook them just the game to be fun and continue our game.
But as you have said people can be really mean at the end, blaming you for everything.
-
@Laluzi "In cases where the survivors have made it to a gate and aren't leaving on their own, I suggest wandering around the map breaking breakable walls, closing the hatch, and squeezing out some last few points, if you don't mind spending two minutes of your time. It blueballs the survivors who want to mock you and Dead Hard out the door."
That's exactly what i'm doing :D
-
@SweetTerror "I've always said that if this game ever sees a proper bot mode where I can play against bots instead of human players like what can be had in the mobile version, I'll never go back to playing against human players ever again"
My thought too...
I really don't understand why the game doesn't have a solo mode and has only multiplayer mode. This could have made things easier. And also everyone can has a good chance to learn his toon. Now, new players, just join a game, knowing nothing and face experienced players. It is not a begginer-friendly game. Only if someone has the interest to really learn the game can play it.
I have spend about 15 hours playing and more than 60 hours watching videos on YouTube and Streams just to learn how to play.
But what really annoys me it's the survivors behaviour...

Welcome to the Fog! It's always nice to see new faces. The game can, and will be very toxic sometimes. If you can't deal with it, this might not be the game for you. I'm not trying to be mean but that's how DbD is sometimes. There are really nice people out there but they're a very rare species
i don't want to quit. i really enjoy the game and i play for fun. But those things are really make me angry.
I don't want people to let me win or i'm not crying for losing. This is different.
As a person and a player i believe that respect is needed to your opponent. Else the good people will quit and only the sh1t will stay.

OMG.. there are really bully and mocking squads? didn't know that.. That explains everything... I have made a post about mocking killers because i can't understand why they are doing this.
