funny thing is the player count on Steam reached the highest it’s ever been at 140,000 when Jason released, beating springtrap’s 130,000 just about. Then the anniversary release got a whopping 170,000 which is insane. It promptly dropped to 75,000 by the next morning, has been around 100,000 to 120,000 since. Not terrible numbers, but I wonder how many dedicated players are like me and holding off until they fix the event. I can’t earn any bloodpoints until they do, so what reason do I have to play? I tried a couple matches of the event, it’s kinda cool but pretty imbalanced and certainly confusing. And we only have it for 20 days total, so it’s not like anyone will get used to it before it’s gone. The small window of time plus the high rarity of anniversary cakes makes this actually the worst anniversary the game has seen in terms of motivation to play. Even with Springtrap being the only new character during last year’s anniversary, they were able to keep a very consistent player count, likely due to the enticing opportunity to stockpile items and offerings as well as level their characters. Just in two days we’re already seeing weird fluctuations in the game’s player count on PC during this event. If only BHVR didn’t mess with the offerings and make longtime dedicated players feel like their time was worth less this anniversary

Exactly this. I genuinely don't even want to play at this point, combined with the fact that it's not incentivising for me at all especially compared to previous years. I don't understand why they've chosen the 10th anniversary event, to be the worst out of all 10 of them. It's ridiculous that they are making us beg for this type of stuff. Being this stingy over in game currency only used for character progression (there are 95 characters to level up, an unimaginable chore for newcomers) is so shocking.

How low can you go, eh BHVR?

  • They said they fixed it but there's barely any difference. Let's hope they'll revert the rarity back to common like it's meant to be. Not shaping up to be a good event this year…

  • I swear they just don't listen. 10th anniversary is supposed to be a big celebration, instead it feels like a battle for something we've ALWAYS had and they can't even give us that. Let's hope they'll revert the rarity to common like literally every other event.

they already did this before in other events. Why do you think they change their minds now?

Well every other generic event has always not been particularly good for bloodpoint offerings. Anniversary events have always been generous with these items and offerings, which is mostly why they've been so successful. This year it's a huge disappointment because they are so scarce now, and I can confirm for myself that it's completely taken the fun out of it and I haven't touched the game since the event started.

Ive played a lot these almost 2 days now and all total ive gotten 180 cakes. This grinding isnt worth it. I think i've played around 14-15 hours in all total for that amount of cakes :(

It's terrible. In 2024 you would have gotten 180 cakes from playing literally 2-3 hours.

It feels so bad to play now. I genuinely was gonna play so much for the cakes and items but I haven't played at all, knowing it's bugged/possibly intentionally nerfed.

Let's hope they patch it today, because if they don't then it'll be next week before it's fixed. There'd better be compensation!

Yeah, dbd broke the all time player count and now nobody wants to play. Kinda crazy.

When did I say nobody wants to play? I said it's a big disappointment to many of us who only play the anniversary event for the items and offerings.

Personally I logged in when the event released to spend some bloodpoints and get the offerings and items (and stopped when I realised they nerfed it or may be bugged) and then logged off, occasionally booting back up to see if it's fixed. Just because people logged on doesn't mean they were actually playing. Obviously lots of people are playing though, and I didn't ever say everyone's refusing to play because of it.

  • I think it's awful. We have gotten massive amounts of offerings and items for every anniversary before. Why would they nerf it for the 10th anniversary? To thank their loyal players (who are the reason why they have lasted 10 years) they have decided to punish us with a huge nerf for anniversary bloodweb items, and an event so unbelievably unbalanced that killer mains are packing up and leaving… I know it's a bit dramatic but there's absolutely no need for them to be so stingy at such a milestone event.

    Shame on BHVR.

  • It's been exactly 24 hours since the event released. Have they fixed it yet, or even said anything about it?

  • I've always loved the anniversary events, and purely for the items and offerings. I genuinely don't pay as much attention to the event gameplay because I'm genuinely grinding the game for items and offerings. If they genuinely want to massively decimate the amount you can get, for the supposed biggest event celebration for the past 10 years of DbD, then I genuinely wont be playing much of this event. I'd be really disappointed as every other anniversary event has had me playing the game as much as possible.

Hoping for a fix to this issue really soon, and not a confirmation that the change is intended.
