  • Not fun to play as survivor with such a large hit box... very little change to dodge, unlike a Billy or Blight...

  • Even if you only allow to avoid 1 killer, a high mmr swf could use their 4 bans to avoid all Nurse, Blight, Spirit, and 1 other A tier killer forever. Giving them basically permanent easy games.

So, they have easy games... What's wrong wit that? As long as both killer and survivors are having fun, I don't see a problem with that. It is a better alternative than one of the survivors DCing or Suiciding because they don't want to play that killer again, no?

Also, say someone really likes is a meta killer and they're pretty good at them. They queue up. Every survivor at their rank has their killer avoided. Their queue will take way longer than it should to widen to include lower rank players who don't have the killer avoided... then they get into a 1 sided stomp where noone had fun. Or... they never get a game at all.

Yes, you are right, in some cases, queues will be longer for some killers... but again, isn't that better than a DC/Suicide? Like any new feature, it should be tested and metrics captured to understand how it is affecting queue time and DC/Suidides. Neither of us can accurately predict the impact of such feature without data: we each may have our biased view of the Dbd universe, there are many different classes of players that this solution could impact (soloQ, SWF, killer casual, killer hardcore, ...).

I say run a pilot/test, get data, and drive conclusions to keep or toss.

Nah I consider Dcing everytime someone starts killing themselves on hook as Killer. Don't play the game if you don't want any sort of challenge. After the first week 80% of the survivors I go against are good and don't kill themselves, with some exceptions. But I'm probably just lucky. Don't queue up in this game if you don't want to play. This is the only game I have ever played where a side actively throws consistently, It's quite absurd how many people defend this.

Not absurd to me: you play a game to have fun, if the game is not fun, you stop playing it, it is not a job.

I suspect a loud minority influenced BHVR to make these patch changes, it broke a delicate balance between survivor and killer fun factor. Survivors expressing their dis-satisfaction in drastic ways (e.g. letting themselves die on first hook) creates a negative feedback loop, that liek a nuclear chain reaction makes more players dis-satisfied. Not the killer or survivor's fault, BHVR broke it, they need to fix it before this death spiral kills the game.

I don't think it is absurd to quit a game you are playing to have fun, when you are not having fun. Both killer and survivors have to see the game through the other side's eyes.It is not an easy balance to put together to make the game fun for both sides. As a main survivor, I did enjoy the pre-patch experience, games were fun. They are not as much anymore, and I wonder if a loud minority has wrongly influenced BHVR to make changes that didn't consider the fun factor for survivors, only the unfun for some killers. I certainly hope BHVR did have in-game data/metrics to justify there was a need for some of these changes, and even if they did, they may have overlooked the fun factor of survivors before nerfing... and now we are spiraling down in a negative feedback loop where players are expressing their dissatisfaction (e.g. letting themselves die on first hook), which in turn dissatisfies more players... This is not a survivor or killer problem, it is a BHVR problem, they created it, they need to fix it... and fast... I will give them time to understand the problem and fix it, but they need to make it happen in the next few weeks... this is not sustainable... And no, a new killer/survivor won't fix the root problem, it may just hide it until the novelty wears out.

You can't use it unless you're moving, so if you let go of W, no DH.

it's meant to be used in a chase so I've no idea why you would use it standing still.

Not standing still, I am pressing A or D to spin, but letting W off...

  • The new DH is not consistent for me too: I have noticed that during a spin it won't work (although I am exhausted after hitting the ground)... wondering if this is related to it not being functional when not movingL is spining not moving?

  • I am glad you are enjoying the new DH. It still looks like s### and yes, harder to use, and with much fewer utilitiy (by design, I know) than the old one. To my friend Killers that say it makes it balanced I say: The killer/survivor interaction is **not** supposed to be balanced, that is why this genre of game is called asymetric. The game does strive to balance 1 killer versus 4 survivors, not 1v1. While the old DH didn't balance 1v1, it made it more fun for the survivor in a role where you are supposed to enjoy being pummeled and lose every 1v1, ultimately... The old DH brought the survivor a small and quick to fade victory in the 1v1 chases survivors are designed to lose. Can't killers take enough satisfaction from winning the 1v1s, even at the expense of jeopardizing their 1v4 "win" (whatever winning means in this game)...

That's my opinion as a main survivor soloQ on the verge of stepping away...

  • In general, I don't need my games (which is play, you know... for enjoyment) to make me feel vicerally sick. Who thought at BHVR that negative reinformcement was a good thing? How about instead of "debuffing" the survivor through a killer power, you buffed the killer?

    Win-win situation no?

I mean, since when, as a business, degrading the customer experience... I mean survivor experience... is the right course of action? And before you tell me "well this is a horror game, it is supposed to make you uncomfortable", where do we draw that line?

Is it ok to have the screen turn blurry with discordant sounds to start inducing diziness in you? Oh, wait... never mond, we already have this covered by the Clown...

How about making it so that your screen turns darker and darker to a point where you just give-up the chase to have the killer put you out of your litteral misery? Ahhh... bad example, we got that covered by Legion and Plague...

Oh, I know, I know... what if we made something so punishing to the survivor (like prevent them from running, interrupt all their actions - including the one attempting to remedy to the current condition, ...) that they could not ignore it? Cenobiiiite, my man!

I know, I know, a bit of a caricature here, but only to drive this point: you don't have to use negative experience (i.e. debuff) to balance the game play, you can instead use a positive experience (a buff) on the other party.

    BHVR, any thoughts?

You mean to tell me that just because DH is gone that you can enjoy the game anymore........seriously?

And when we're survivors ever supposed to have a "fight back" against killers, I thought you were just supposed to escape?

Just do the gens and get out of the match

Escaping may have been the goal a few hundred hours gameplay ago, making challenging hook saves or looping became quickly more rewarding. So, no, escaping is not the goal for me, it's become more and more the interaction with the killer, and being able to "fight back" does add spice to it.

I still enjoy the game and care for it, that's why I am here providing my feedback to make the game great for all, not just a sub-population. And I know it is a hard balance to strick to meet the needs of different types of players.

Escaping and doing gens without getting noticed was the goal of the game for me the first few hundred hours in, it became less and less important to escape over time. I cherish more the rescues and loops than making the escape. And like I said, being a pincushion game after game without the feeling of fighting back (as futile as this exercise might be) is not satisfying to me.

๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ damni at " i Never played Killer " i already Wanted to Stop Reading

Sry but 4 Sure u had Fun whit DH and Wanted it back if u Never played Killer u dont know how busted that Perk was and how Killer Players had to Feel whit this Perk, u dont know how it feels if u outplay and mindgame a Survivor as Killer but then the Survivor outplay u by Pressing E

Dead Hard was busted and it was about Time they nerfed this broken Mess

Now try to learn other perks and try to learn how to win a chase whitout this Perk

    DH is gone

Glad you didn't stop reading and thanks for your killer perspective. I did try killer a few years ago, but I prefer much to collaborative playstyle of the survivor side. And you are right, I am probably to worst person to give the killer viewpoint, which I why I didn't. I have played against skilled killers who knew to wait out DH, so maybe it is a matter of killer skills to be able to deal with DH?

The main point of this post is to convey my feeling about the change, I am sure it doesn;t apply to everyone. I will continue to experiment with builds for a little while and move on if I can't find something satisfying enough. Heck, I might even start playing killer side, provided the queues are reasonable...
