I have been having this issue for the last couple months and I'm playing on a PC with a 5080 GPU. This is the only game that does this to me. Both playing killer and survivor, being near an exit gate stutters dramatically.
-
I appreciate the effort Behavior has taken to try to change their system to update it and make it a little more engaging; however, my biggest concern is they made it way more grindy and you now earn less fragments per match than you did before. Before the update it took 10 matches to level up once. If I'm understanding the new system correctly, it now takes double that to level up one tier in the rift pass. This is really bad as most casual players will now never be able to complete the entire rift pass.
Aside from taking longer to level up through the tiers, there are only 5 quests per week which take no time to power through, meaning there are no objectives aside from the milestones (passive quests), which completely defeats the purpose of freshening up the quest system.

I'm asking how do they go about fixing it? Do you have a suggestion? I have the whole DBD team sitting here with me. Let me know and I'll let them know how to fix the issue. What is your idea?
One solution I can think of is dedicated servers to improve the ping between all the players in the match.
The other would be improving their servers and qol on connectivity. There are plenty of games that do a good job with problems like these.
The reason these problems exist in the first place is due to the fact that the game relies heavily on the killer's ping, favoring the killer in most circumstances. If they can find a way to alleviate killer's internet connection and basically substitute games from Behavior's own servers, these latency issues would diminish significantly

I dont know, i only played yesterday and did every challenge, but i only died once in 8 matches. Well technically twice, but i gave the kill bc we had a cheater dwight.
And i wasnt alone. Best result was 3 kills for the killer. Most of the time they got only the bot who ran into a corner.
I never played RPD and was always playing solo, if that is helpful.
So with that said: i still think a good killer duo will win almost every game. There are just some tactics and killer + class combis who work really well. But the big question is: do we need changes? I dont think so. That mode is quite casual and if we have enough killer who like to play even if the lose, its fine. Same for survivor. Aura is problematic on Nurse, but some bad players would struggle to find survivor otherwise. And hiding+ searching is quite boring.
tldr: Balance is not that important, 2vs8 should be more about fun. We dont have matchmaking anyway, right?
I totally understand your perspective and I wished I had a similar experience. Just the last couple days, my matches have ended with 6+ survivors dead in the end, with just a few matches where we escaped. I don't exactly understand the mmr system but the way my matches have been playing feels akin to having miserable mmr or being stuck in hard silver on League of Legends, if people can understand that comparison.
As for the nurse, she is just incredibly powerful for this mode because there is no counter to her. She is guaranteed hits on survivors with all the aura in 2v8 and because the distance that her m1 hits, it's almost 100% every time. Due to this, I definitely believe they should fix some of these issues. More quality of life changes for survivor = more survivors playing the game. This would indirectly decrease the queue times for killers as well.
Concerning the 2v8 mode, I am of the opinion that the game mode should be crazy and fun. Unfortunately any game that attempts to be fun but ends up being miserable because of one side being incredibly oppressive is always going to lose its fun factor.

No, it is not. How do this many people not see how survivor sided this gamemode is still?
Legion Is still terrible and actually became worse in 2v8, the only reason he seems strong is because no one knows how to counter him
Wesker's 3 dashes are completely fair tbh, theres so many pallets that he needs a 3rd dash to compensate
Aura reading does not need a global cooldown, infact it needs to be made more clear for killers why an aura is being revealed. They should also know if they are being stared at by a scout.
Who shouldn't be in this mode is nurse. Already the best killer in the game, she got an insane amount of innate skills like bonus lunge range and super short fatigues. Though wesker for his infection machanic, is better than nurse since he creates a secondary objective
I disagree with the aura thing. Killers are so oppressive in this mode that they should not have that much information about survivors. If Behavior implemented a change to reveal when they're being revealed, it would just encourage tunneling.
I do completely agree with you on the nurse take. Nurse has no counters in this game mode with all the aura's being revealed. Every time she hits someone, it's almost always a guaranteed second hit with auras.

Yep, still experiencing the 2 bots. Doesn't say much for integrity when you won't stick to your word.

Killer is still the worse role icl. Survivors lose matches for a countless amount of factors, they could be solo queuing, or they got tunneled out. Hours doesn't necessarily mean skill, but thats not the point.
Point is survivor is still the better role, and it doesn't need to be buffed, it needs nerfs to certain playstyles, just as killer does
I'll just simply disagree. There aren't a lot of points I can make to change your mind. Survivor is not the easier role. I edited my last response but I will put it here…
Killers have been buffed so frequently the last 3-4 years that they've become entitled to their balance changes, the role has been dumbed down completely, and the killer mentality will not let survivors complain about their own problems. Not to mention, how incredibly toxic some killers have become while playing the game.
Unfortunately, Behavior is not entirely inharmony with their player base and they make redundant, irrational and unnecessary changes that no one asked for that completely throw off the balance of the game. When they do address bugs or balance changes people ask for, they consistently overtune or undertune these changes. There's only been a few changes that I thought were really decent changes.

No it wouldn't. Survivor's problem is that solo queue teammates are terrible. If the matchmaking was better or the players were better, it would be complete domination by survivors in 100% of matches.
You're talking about survivors requiring 1000s of hours to be considered good at this game. I know plenty of survivors with that many hours that are still losing their matches. Stop pretending that playing killer is actually a hard role to play. It's so easy. In fact, it's too easy; therefore, a lot of killers have become entitled to their bug fixes and balance changes that they won't let survivors complain about theirs. It's always "well, you just need to get better." Yeah, let me sink another 1000s hours in, I'm not nearly there yet to "GeT GuD…"
By the by, this is from the perspective of someone that plays both killer and survivor. So like, I understand the problems on both sides. My friends stopped playing this game because they were tired of how often they were dying every match. It's sad because I wanted them to really enjoy this game

I know it's werid to say but it's been killing me not to talk about. Sorry if it's stupid. Sorry if it seems like I'm being entitled but I'm just saying it just feels one sided now
I'm Sorry but how often do you play survivor?
If you played survivor more consistently, your opinion would be different
-
I love all of these suggestions and would take any of them at this point so I can enjoy the remaining time I have left for this 2v8 before I ship for bootcamp
-
Not to mention all the bugs on top of it but yes. They steal that opportunity from real players and killers

I still find the things they do and don't do to be far better than the average rando.
I mean seriously, look at the top scores at the end of the match. Almost always bots. I have an archive of screenshots that I dare not post.
In my 20 hours of this Resident Evil themed 2v8, the bloodpoints have to be taken with a grain of salt. A lot of real players usually get prioritized over bots and will get tunneled out/die sooner leaving bots to earn bloodpoints almost undisturbed.

@Leon_Loves_Cheryl said:
If you remove the bots the queue gets even longer. It's already insanely long. Keep 2 bots (maybe even up it to 3) and add Iri Shards as an incentive.
I think people are saying the queue times haven't changed from the previous 2v8s to the current 2v8 mode, so bots are actually in fact not improving wait times as predicted. Bots should not be implemented every match and real players should be prioritized as usual.

This is my own point of view, in my games it is very true. LOL! I been playing this game for years, so yeah….
2v8 hasn't been around for years and neither has bots so your point is redundant. In my experience, bots have been atrocious

Bots are sometimes better than regular players. Lot of folks give up or troll if they make a mistake….
You clearly haven't played 2v8 as survivor long enough because if you had, you'd realize how untrue that statement is
-
I really do hope they address it or at least mention it. There are too many problems with the bots at the moment that it's making the game unfun for both sides.
-
Bots wouldn't be so bad if:
- Killers couldn't tell them apart
- They didn't sandbag and throw pallets in your face to give free hit
- They actually were productive and did gens effectively
- Didn't cower in fear whenever in the terror radius
- Actually healed and didn't t-bag next to player survivor healing injured player
- they went for unhook even in dire circumstances
- They didn't abandon all players in end game
A few things I've noticed in my time playing this new 2v8 mode (I'm sure I've missed other glaring issues). It's horrendous playing with bots. They quite literally make or break a game in most cases.
-
I agree. The bots are actually more of a hindrance than anything
-
My opinion is, if they're going to have aura perks, killers and survivors should only be allowed to stack 2 or have an exhausted state
-
So this is my biggest concern with these recent balance changes. Before the buffs release next week, the Skull Merchant is already incredibly strong at locking down gens, using drones to hunt survivors without hearing her terror radius, and on top of all that, has SO MUCH map awareness over EVERY killer in the game. Like you can't have your cake and eat it too. She can either have chase or map awareness but not both. Those are my big concerns with this killer and these soon to be "balance" changes don't really seem to be balancing her but rather just putting a band aid on a gouge that requires 13 stitches.
-
This thread is silly. Even competitive survivor veterans are struggling against the 3 gen skull merchant. She needs a rework like Otz has even said
-
How hard is it to wait .5 seconds? Complaining about new dead hard must be a joke, considering it actually is so inconsistent now with how it relies on the killer's connection. I'll press E and still be downed. This perk is actually mid now and if killers are losing to it, it really all boils down to experience, no ifs ands or buts about it.
ALSO I play killer. Just thought I'd throw that in there. If you realize a survivor has deadhard, WAIT to m1 AND if that doesn't work, they are probably a damn good survivor and you should probably find another survivor to chase instead of wasting 2 gens chasing them.
-
To answer your question from the perspective as killer and survivor, survivors are definitely NOT op. The recent balance change they made was actually way more in favor of killers than anything and I'd argue killers are incredibly strong if not op now. If you are not getting kills, you are probably not very experienced with your killer, struggle with tactics or not efficient with mind gaming.
What it all boils down to, and some of you have said it yourselves, is time played in the game. It has nothing to do with strong perks and everything to do with the amount of time (experience) someone has in this game. If you can't catch a survivor, you need to move on and find the weakest link. That good player will usually fall apart because of their weak link.
