This is complete bullshit i'm a survivor main and I think the nerf is completely fair oh boo hoo you can't stab the killer after working on a gen in front of their face also who cares about the nerf most survivors just looked for the killer to either ds them or unbreakable them and if they want value out of their perk then they will not do a gen for the entire minute greatly weakening their team and with the ds nerf people will explore more fun builds and the game would be more fun because of it thank you for coming to my Ted talk
Beautifully made Ted Talk, I’m already looking forward to the next one. Seriously though, I agree with everything you said. I’m honestly excited for the new builds that’ll probably come out for this (maybe not many honestly, but here’s hoping for it). Now that many toxic people won’t use Object Of Obsession, I’m hoping for a rise in other aura reading perks like Alert. If the Developers continue with this trend of buffing/nerfing/reworking perks, we could see a lot of variety in the future.

No it's a problem for the game health. If you can't see it then you should Play survivor, just a littel bit.
If you can’t see that Decisive Strike needed the nerf, then you should play Killer at higher ranks. This clearly shows you don’t play Killer as much as Survivor, maybe not at all.

In that case you can go down and get slugged, thats how I deal today with bold DS users, especially the ones that follow you around to eat a hit, people being cocky with DS were already being punished.
Then again, main problem is not regular walking Killers like Myers or Doctor, is the racecars, the ones you think you are safe because they were far away and 5 seconds later are on top of you because they can cross the map in seconds.
If you manage to deal with Decisive Strike users like that, then you should also know that Unbreakable is used alongside it, meaning even if you slug them, they’ll get right back up and leave or 99% the recovery so someone can come pick them up. If you watch Killers at higher rank like Otzdarva deal with Decisive Strike and Unbreakable, you can see it’s very much a pain to try and play around, especially if the entire team has it and is communicating with each other. Each second counts in Dead By Daylight and if you get stabbed by 4 Decisive Strikes, you just wasted 20 seconds, almost guaranteed you lose the match.

Because after the change I cant even heal my saviour without losing it, it will punish Survivors for doing their objective or even doing secondary objectives.
I believe the reason for that though is so you don’t do things in front of the Killer’s face like Generators, Totems, Healing, and Unhooking. It’s meant to be a anti-tunneling perk, and so it is one. If you are being tunneled, then by all means, use it, it’s what the perk is made for. If you’re not being tunneled and believe you’re safe from the Killer, then do those actions and save it until later because you’re not being tunneled.

I dont use DS and if I did after this change I would stop using it and go for something else.
Why though? It still deals with tunneling, what it’s meant for. Why change it out for something else after the nerf exactly, you’re still gonna be able to stab the Killer if they tunnel you.

If you have 1 shot on this perk, why nerf it? There is no point nerfing it. Ds should be used no matter what. If they really nerf this perk, it would be a buff for facecampers.
Ps: i`m talking to survivor players, killer players will never understand this comment.
I mainly play Survivor, most times with friends, and I can tell you Decisive Strike needed the nerf because it basically was being used aggressively instead of against Killers who actually tunneled. Survivors who used it would literally do a Generator in front of a Killer's face because they know they can get away with it, especially with Unbreakable because if they slug you and don't want to pick you up because they fear you have it, bam, Unbreakable comes into play.

It literally encourages more tunneling.
A perk meant to counter tunneling is going to encourage it more. I... don't think that's how that works.

"Why should killer get consequences for dowing and hooking survior who was working on a generator/unhooking in his face ?"
That is a perk. You were tunneling. Doesn't matter what they are doing.
Why are you in the survivors face tunneling?
See how that works?
Okay, I'm sorry, but if a Killer sees you working on a Generator after just chasing and hooking someone else, are they supposed to just let you continue? No, especially since they're not tunneling at that point. It's a Killer's job to stop you from escaping, so why would they let you do a Generator in front of they're face, especially when they left you to find a different Survivor to chase.

Yes but you still get DS switched off because some Killers can start a tunneling from very long distances thanks to huge mobility. Im not against changing DS abuse but this change is too much against certain Killers.
I dont use it but Im concerned tunneling will be even more prevalent after this.
I can definitely see the concern in that.

Whole point of the video was to be fun and gimmicky. As a fairly novice content creator I understand that I can't run the same perks over and over again. It won't work every game against good survivors. Thanks for the feed back tho bro appreciate it.
Corrupt Intervention to save some time so you don't lose Generators too early and can get Survivors to come to you so you can stalk them, Monitor and Abuse to sneak up on people in Evil Within 2 and lowers your Terror Radius while in Evil Within 3 so you can catch them off guard a little, Save The Best For Last because it's such a useful perk on M1 Killers like himself, and Sloppy Butcher to slow down healing. Hope this seems fun enough.

The problem comes with the proxy campers like Hillbilly, Spirit et all, when you think you are safe and suddenly a race car comes barreling.
Then the best you can do is try to loop them or hide from them.

OoO change wont really matter, contrary to what people say its a extremely rare perk which half the time is used by people not up to the task who go down quite fast.
The DS change has the problem it makes the perk way worse, since it either does nothing or renders a Survivor useless for 60 seconds so people will stop running it and tunneling off hook will be more prevalent. I dont mind changing/nerfing DS but the proposed change is a bit too much in my opinion.
That’s the thing though, the new Decisive Strike is meant to encourage Survivors to leave the area the Killer is in and if the Killer does chase them down, then congratulations, you were tunneled and you get to use it. But if you believe you are safe to heal or repair, then you’re not being tunneled. The perk is supposed to be a counter to tunneling, not to make the Survivors cocky arrogant players because they can get away with almost anything with Decisive Strike and Unbreakable.

Just keep right on digging that hole for yourself. I'm willing to accept that you are telling the truth if you want to admit to being the worst Dead by Daylight Player ever. :) I mean it can only be one or the other, right? I don't have nearly the hours you are claiming, and I don't get camped or tunneled 70% of the time. Remember, most of us can do basic math. You are claiming that of the seven thousand hours you have logged that you have been tunneled and camped four thousand nine hundred hours. If you want to embrace being THAT BAD why should I argue with you. How is it other people aren't spending 70% of their time being camped on a hook? Seriously, that is the kind of metrics a potato Player enjoys while they are still learning the game.
I just find it hilarious that you would rather be known as the WORST Player in the game than admit that you you are exaggerating. :) Or perhaps you really are that bad. If so, please take the following video to heart:
Damn, lured him into a trap and finished him. Well played.

5 secs stun 1 time per match is abusable? And what is seeing a gen 24 secs. before is done 5 times at least (tinkerer)? Or see the survs aura 11 times (B&C)? Or remove from the gens up to 220 secs (PGTW)? Now killers don't need to do anything to win a game. They only need to find the first survs and then they only need to camp, tunnel or wait for their perks to tell them where are survs? That's all. Now killer is easy as hell, you can 4k every game with pay to win freddy or spirit. Perhaps 1/100 games you find a 4 man death squad SWF and you get only 1k, and then come here to ask for more nerfs because you want to 4k against them too.
And don’t even get me started on the synergy with Unbreakable.

5 sec stun by from each Survivor, which could potentially be 20 seconds. At that point, as a Killer, you’ve lost the game most likely because each second count. And by abusable, I mean do a Generator in front of the Killer, playing aggressively towards the Killer, and just be obnoxious and cocky with it because, with the help of Borrowed Time, it puts Killers in a “Damned if you do, damned if you don’t “ situation.

DS is the new MoM now. Another trash survivor perk, as 99% of survs perks.
Imagine if PGTW get deactivated if the killer hit someone and you have to do a skill check and you can only use it once. Do you really think it would be a good perk? This is DS now, another trash perk. Thx devs
I’m sorry, but I’m gonna have to disagree with you on that. Decisive Strike will still be used after the nerf comes to the game and I believe it’ll still be relative to the meta. There’s just no doubt about it, it’s still very much a useful perk, just not one you can be cocky and abusable with.
-
Survivor: Botany Knowledge. Always loved being the healer of the group and while their are perks that heal faster than it, it’s a perk that isn’t as limited as the others like We’ll Make It, which you need to unhook a Survivor to activate.
Killer: Save The Best For Last. Just amazing on many killers who don’t have a secondary option to downing Survivors and even then, it’s still amazing for those who do.

If there are people who rely on a camp - tunnel to enjoy this game... that'sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo sad.
I see where you’re coming from and yes, it’s not fun to be camped or tunneled or to do either, but as the Developers said during the Q&A, it’s a strategy used to put pressure on Survivors. I wish tunneling and camping didn’t exist, but it happens. Decisive Strike was the answer to it, but it was too powerful, especially with Unbreakable, to the point it wasn’t even used defensively as a counter to tunneling, but aggressively.

My example: A blight hooks Meg, and then zooms to a nearby gen downing a dweet. When he dashes to the generator, Meg is unhooked with DS active for the next minute. The blight then hooks dwight, this process takes about 24 seconds. The blight then goes to another generator and happens to find Meg hiding around, he then downs her easily and picks her up, but is hit by DS. Tell me, is this tunneling?
You are telling me you don't see how teleporting on the other side of a pallet was unfair for killers? Probably because the killer would be robbed of a hit they should have gotten.
DS was hardly changed each time they "nerfed" it until they added the part where you were unhooked. The current DS is stronger than the old one since it has no counterplay.
Insta heals, the old BNP, toolboxes, and the exhaustion nerfs were VERY good. It was a nerf, but it made the game more balanced. If 4 survivors used the BNPs, they could LITERALLY do 3 gens in less than a minute if they used it properly no matter the killer. Please tell me how MoM was balanced btw since you still seem a bit upset by its nerf. BT was changed for the better in case you didn't read my reasoning in my last comment. You also didn't tell me how BNPs or insta heals were fair, please do I would love to hear your reasoning for that.
Also, BL was nerfed because it was stupidly powerful on Haddonfield especially.
Infinite were still a problem for even the good killers (except nurse). The best killer player in DBD playing a killer like Wraith would catch the survivor running an infinite only after all gens were done. All maps always have something to work with, you just have to be good to find and use it. Take lery's for example, most survivors have no idea the special spot on the map where there are always guaranteed pallets and strong windows. Infinites were still a problem for good killers (except nurse) especially if the survivor running them was good.
You seem to be upset that you can't rely on anything but your skill now, especially after the DS change I would assume. Survivor is still very fun, I don't know what you are talking about. Also, does survivor fun HAVE to come at expense of the killer's fun? Because that is what old Mom, BT, Bl, BNP toolboxes, and infinites did.
I will wait on your well-written response and arguments. However, you seem like a bait-poster.
Jesus, you killed him outside of a match.

bruh if anything it will make this game better especially the OoO nerf since it was only useful in a swf and was extremely problematic.
As for DS in high level game play it will make gen speed slowed a bit since survivors would always do gens off a hook before healing, at least now they have to heal before doing the gen since we can go after them.
If you know the killer is following you and tunneling just move away from your team and don't do anything to disable it this allows you to do exactly what DS currently does besides interactions which means 60 seconds of "you can't pick me up or chase me imma go into a locker".
this also indirectly buffs stealth killers who can sneak up on someone and get them when they disable DS.
Didn’t even notice the indirect buff for stealth Killers, good idea there.

These perks both need changes; the OoO change is pretty awesome, imo. It removes control for the survivor (which was honestly the issue with the perk as they got the information whenever they wanted) but also allows some new counterplay to perks like I'm All Ears and Nurse's Calling, which is a fun interaction, imo.
The DS change is the most stupid suggestion ever given to the devs, and they're likely going for it, which is depressing. I've hardly played this game in the past month because it feels like a mess for both roles, and with these changes coming I'm likely not to play any more at all soon. Until a month ago, I was playing minimum 40 hours a week...for a very long time...
I don't run DS myself, but the fact that it can function to counter tunneling in some cases and causes there to be an obsession means I have a chance at not being tunneled to death because I had a good chase and the killer wants me out of the game at all cost (which happens way too often)
The changes don't do anything to change the fact that being tunneled and doing well despite the tunnel means that you're punished with an empty perk slot, meanwhile they add the punishment that being healed by someone with an obscenely good healing build like We'll Make It + Desperate Measures + Botany Knowledge and a Ranger Med-Kit when the killer was just outside the basement on the moment of unhooking would mean that DS is now deactivated, even if the killer commits to the already unhooked person.
The healing caveat needs removing, and a new one in which being in chase pauses the timer and the proposed factors double the rate of regression for the timer (not completely deactivate it) needs to be added for this to have any real function as an anti tunneling perk.
Being healed by a Survivor doesn’t deactivate Decisive Strike for you, you healing another Survivor does though. Your suggestion in your last paragraph seems like an interesting idea by the way, but I think the way it’s meant to be used now is so that you get far away from the Killer after using it and once you think you’re out of the clear, heal, repair, or cleanse to your heart’s content.

His last paragraph said it all. He'd prefer to play a game that pits 4 people against ai, where there is no chance of it ever getting any more difficult.
Why can’t both sides of the game NOT be so divided and at each other’s throats? I can understand why he would think this way, but you would think he’d want the game to be healthy and balanced. Do many Survivors rely on using Decisive Strike aggressively that much?

@Sluzzy said:
When I first heard of the news yesterday and read a picture of the perk description, I immediately thought it was a prank because it was clearly written by a killer main. It was written exactly how killer mains want it. I had to go watch a vod of the stream to confirm it was true because I couldn't believe it was being nerfed yet again and in a way that killer mains precisely want it.
It is not about how it was nerfed that is important here, it is why it is nerfed. Decisive Strike was not nerfed because of balance reasons. The devs never said the perk was too strong, they strictly talked about the fun factor for specifically one side. It was nerfed because killers didn't like the perk. Killers demand to be totally in charge of their opponent and always oppressing them. DS doesn't win the game by having it equipped, it made the experience playing that side a little more bearable. It was a "fun" perk to use but at the same time a "required" perk to use because despite the rhetoric from the killer side, tunneling is the most effective way to win the game. I know because I play killer as well. If I want to win, I can tunnel someone out of the match and there is nothing that team can do. If it is a SWF team, they'll do anything to help their buddy and then it throws the match. I've seen it from both sides since the game released.
With deactivation conditions which I've said on this forum numerous times which the devs have chosen to ignore, a killer can stop chase after a survivor has been unhooked and if they find that survivor with nurses calling, THEY ARE TUNNELING. The perk is useless. They can work on the objective and thinking they are safe, the killer can stop chasing and return to THAT SURVIVOR and TUNNEL. The perk is useless again. A ghostface can hide, wait for the unhook, wait for the survivor to heal or touch a gen AND PROCEED TO TUNNEL, the perk is again useless.
This perk was nerfed for the benefit of one side at the cost of the other side for not balance reasons, but strictly FUN reasons. It has been nerfed at least five times.
So to answer your question, if you are a survivor main or play solo or duo, then you should definitely quit. This side has been nerfed constantly and consistently for five years with total disregard to mechanics freely given to killer that can make this side miserable to play. Instead of nerfing DS, more perks should be buffed to even discourage its use to help against unfun mechanics. Why couldn't Discordance be buffed instead of nerfing DS? Keep in mind, Infectious Freight on Nurse, Spirit, Oni, Billy are all still a thing, Infectious Freight has never been nerfed, keep in mind it can be abused to cause the survivor side to be miserable. The devs and killers think this perk is healthy, obviously, for the game. An insidious camper can still camp with NOED. A bubba can camp someone in the basement and there is no possible out, a killer recently BUFFED! The devs think this is healthy, obviously.
For me personally, I can not wait for Back 4 Blood, I've been thinking about that game a lot since it was announced and this nerf has made me even more excited and can't wait. Guess the best part is of B4B? Characters will not constantly be nerfed in that game, it will constantly improve. When you enjoy something in that game, you won't have to worry about something being taken away from you. Especially after you bought it.
You can’t be serious. You just can’t be. This Decisive Strike needed to be changed in this way so it can’t be abused, especially with the synergy of Unbreakable.

The problems with the DS nerf that I can already predict. Teammate heals you immediately after being unhooked. Disabled while killer comes back.
It only deactivates if you perform a healing action, not the other way around. Meaning if you use Self Care or a Med-Kit or heal another Survivor, it’s deactivated.
