It's how I often refer to myself but I'll edit if makes you uncomfortable.
(Actually I mostly refer to myself as a f****t but even I know not to do that on a forum)
Thank you so much and dont worry I know you didn't mean harm by it <3

That's fine. I just don't want you to think of these people as bigots.
Dont worry I dont its just something that me and a lot of other LGBT do kinda see as touchy so I was just saying for me personally please don't say it.

Hell even the graphics from 2017/early 2018 were pretty great.

And I'm trying to tell you it doesn't have to. Trust me, you can tell the difference when someone uses it to be a bigot and when someone uses it the proper way.
Honey, I said it makes me severely uncomfortable I know it doesn't have to be but I can't exactly just have it stop bugging me and I don't want to be referred too as that its not a hard thing to ask.

Now it's a catch-all term for any and all people who're not cis and heterosexual. Hence LGBTQ, if you put the Q there.
The Q originally meant questioning. Despite whats being said in the media its still very widely used and regarded to as a slur and obviously it bugs me so leave it at that.

Yeah I always like seeing queer characters ofc but it'll get on my nerves if it's done in a clumsy or checkboxy way. Just do it like nurse or legion imo, who have opposite sex partners but that obviously isn't the focus of their existence.
I dunno if the announcement was the right way to go about it rather than just doing it, but the thought is appreciated.
Can you guys stop sayin qu**r in this comment section ^-^

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1347499#Comment_1347499
What? I'm referring to the fact that putting "hints" that a character isn't heterosexual reinforces the notion that everyone is heterosexual unless stated/hinted otherwise, which is exactly what the heteronormative cliché is.
Its not wrong to assume everyone is heterosexual though. Only about 5% of the US population is LGBT and soldier is from the US.

I think it'd be easier if their first queer character is a killer. Naturally, their story will focus on why they have their power.

Pretty much they should focus on making an interesting character...that just happens to be gay. If ya want that to be an important aspect, thats fine...but it shouldnt be the center of the character's world.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/KCOOPG9NI1T2/image.png
Heres an example of a gay character done right. They gave us a likeable character who didnt feel the need to remind us about their sexual preferences every 5 seconds. As a matter of fact, it was only really brought to the foreground 2/3s of the way through the season when she had to let Steve down gently by telling him.
Robin is possibly the greatest example of an LGBT character in media because it shows shes just a normal girl who likes girls and Steve is along with everyone else is perfectly fine with it.
-
Whoever makes the most money will be gay whoever makes the least will be straight. This isn't nothing more than taking advantage of us.

Behavior are hit and miss with stuff like this. For Yui they were really pushing for "female empowerment", but it just felt like they were going through a checklist. They mentioned she had a stalker for example...and then moved on to the next bullet point. Compare that to Hag and how in-depth it went with her fighting off HER aggressors...and its VERY different. Some of the character bios really give ya a good idea on who they are while others just feel like a resume. I can definitely understand though wanting more than just a token gay guy.
Yeah I actually liked Hag's backstory for that and I love Yui but I noticed hers and Jane's rift archive kinda felt like a bit of a...political statement rather than an actual backstory for a character.

I can understand why people are worried. A good majority of the time it's only done for marketing or pandering in the first place.
Personally I don't care. I'm a gay white guy who mains Claudette. Sex, orientation and race means nothing to me.
As long as they don't pull a J.K. Rowling's "Dumbledore was in a gay relationship" out of nowhere card with original characters or do anything offensive, I couldn't care less. I'll probably never move off of Claudette because I don't care about the issue at all and honestly I don't know why they announced the whole thing in the first place.
They should have just made a character that has a different orientation naturally wherever it fit and that just be that. It doesn't need to be announced. If you want to make a strong character of a specific gender, or race, or orientation -- make their personality and backstory first, then choose the gender, race and orientation last, because these things do not make an individual. Our experiences in life, the mistakes we make and learn from, and environment we live in, are all that shape us as an individual.
At least that's how I write my characters, even if their sexual orientation is never even mentioned at all in the stories I write (granted most of them are hetero anyway), because sometimes it just doesn't matter or have a place and I sure don't want to just shoe horn it in without purpose.
oooh a fellow writer! But yeah I play Feng to relate cause shes extremely feminine and chinese and her sexuality is completely up who knows which is what I like about DBD cause you can find characters you relate too and make them relate to you more with head canons n stuff.

@OniWantsYourMacaroni said:

Why would adding canon sexualities ruin your ability to ship certain characters?
People do that all the time although they know their favorite characters orientation.
As I've learned from the overwatch community, when you ship characters outside their non straight sexuality you get accused of being homophobic (despite being gay myself) plus I wanna relate to someone in the game and currently Feng Min is the one I relate to the most and thats one great thing about making everyones sexuality ambiguous is that everyone can find a character they relate too but if they started adding canon sexualities you take out a lot of ships and relateability.

No we really can't because this is looking like a blatant use of gays and lesbians just for the sake of PR and publicity. Why's it so bad to give her public opinion so behavior knows what the community would like to see?

YASS QUEEN!
My rainbow gun is in the garage and I don't like pink, so that's all you're getting out of me.
In all seriousness, while I understand what you mean, the problem is that doing that reinforces the heteronormative "cliché", if you will. I quite enjoyed how they did it because, more often than not, that's how it happens.
Bruh coming from a hardcore femboy, you can have little bits of dialogue without it being 'heteronormative' like- no offense but how is saying "Oh I always thought (insert soldier 76 crush character here) would be a good boyfriend." heteronormative?

But do people need a lgbtq character to show that they are that? I use a girl character, it doesn't mean that I want to be a girl.
Like people can just play any character and assume their role by the player, if they want to use Dwight and make him gay there is nothing wrong with that, if they want to be a Kate and make her a lesb there is also nothing wrong with that.
And Steve deserves better than Nancy and her "bULlsHIt"
Just an opinion, I can be wrong
Omg this!!! I play Feng cause we're both Chinese and I picture her and Jake having a relationship since if I was in the dbd situation I'd wanna hook up with Jake and it just makes me relate and like the character more and I feel like canon sexualties would kinda ruin that.

I assumed you were replacing Unbreakable with Soul Guard, not using both. My bad.
-
Then you'd only have benefited from Soul Guard in 21 of those games; the 6 where you weren't immediately downed it would have been useless.
And you still can't guarantee that minimum of 21 games out of 100 will happen instead of ones where nobody is slugged. You could be running two perks, half your build, that will never activate.
Well since im someone who thinks unbreakable is useless since slugging is kinda rare and when it does happen most times youre just smacked right down, I think in general it'll be a widely used perk even if you don't get as much use from it.
-
@TheRockstarKnight said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1345145#Comment_1345145
Keep in mind, Soul Guard requires you to be actively Cursed for it's Unbreakable effect to activate AND it has no boost to recovery speed like Unbreakable.
You also have nothing to reasonably support the claim that 27 out of 100 games of usefulness will be the guaranteed minimum amount of games where it's useful. There's no guarantee of even getting slugged 27 out of 100 games, let alone being slugged long enough to benefit from Soul Guard.
Soul Guard isn't used for the unbreakable effect its used for the Endurance effect.
-
Okay a while ago I did unbreakable tests and charted it like this.
Came in handy = I got myself up and lasted 10+ seconds afterwards.
Almost Came in handy = got myself up but went down within 10 seconds.
Useless = Didn't get myself up at all.
Now lemme show the numbers which I still have saved.
Came in Handy: 6 games
Almost came in handy: 21 games
Useless: 73 games (Killers really dont slug much dont know why people complain about it)
Anyways these numbers show that soul guard would basically make unbreakable go from an average of usefulness of 6 games per 100 too at minimum 27 games per 100. I'll do retests when Soul Guard comes out but I think it'll definitely be ran into my normal builds because very frequently I get picked up and downed within 10 seconds.

So let me get this straight, since you're clearly new to the game and have no clue what scummy is - if I hook you, leave the hook, and during you getting unhooked/healed, I have hooked 2 other people, and I find you again when patrolling gens...and I get hit with your DS...I was playing scummy? OKAY THERE bud. Play more killer, then I'll allow myself to acknowledge any validity in your opinion.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1342253#Comment_1342253
It actually worked fairly often. At least it was an opportunity to counterplay.
Look, it's obvious you have no real insight here. You absolutely refuse to, again, address my original point. Conveniently ignoring it yet again. I shouldn't be surprised, honestly.
Im a rank 1 killer on xbox and PC bruh. If you've hooked 3 people all in under the span of 3 minutes then clearly the survivors are bad and you won't have to worry about DS anyways so at that point if you are hit with it? You've already pretty much applied a huge amount of pressure and even with a 5 second stun what's the worst that'll come from it while 2 other people are hooked, the DS user just got off your shoulder, and theres only one free person.

Imagine not thinking having an actual counter, like dribbling, isn't better. Imagine actually thinking that the way it works now, where DS works whether you're the obsession or not (and this, leaving the killer to just have to guess), isn't stronger. Imagine actually believing that being DS'd and teabagged at the gates isn't still something that happens (like legit, do you even play DBD? KEKW LUL). IMAGINE actually posting that and feeling like you outwitted someone, just to get shut down harder than Windows ME.
Legit, there are ways it's less strong, but overall, it was a buff. Judging by your clear bias and lack of knowledge on the game, I wouldn't expect you to understand, or even attempt to understand. Hell, you won't even respond to my original argument. Those times/situations I talked about now where DS literally has no counterplay? With old DS, you could actually do something.
A good counter is dont play scummy :)

Can't slug someone in a locker. Can't grab and drop (slug) someone who's unhooking in your face if they have DS. Can't grab and drop someone who's working on a gen in your face. Can't accidentally grab someone vaulting a window. Can't grab someone working on a totem. Can't grab someone searching a chest.
DS is a fundamentally broken perk because it allows all this bullshit. If the stun isn't going to be reduced, even though that shows a clear double-standard and survivor bias, then it needs to be disabled outright if a survivor touches anything, gets in a locker, or is fully healed, or if the killer hooks someone else. That would make it balanced.
Out of everything you've listed only the lockers are actually the only thing you cant slug with. The others you can just lunge and you'll down them without slugging :)

Maybe I want it reverted to 3 seconds because it was buffed to 5 seconds due to Enduring in the first place. You know, I want some fairness in how survivors and killers get treated.
- DS was buffed because of Enduring. This was explicitly stated by the devs, the reason being that the 3-second stun was too short if the killer was using Enduring.
- Enduring was later nerfed. According to the devs, this was because it was difficult to balance perk-related stuns when they had to take into account Enduring every time. However, DS stayed the same. Tell me how that's fair or even logical.
The devs say they don't have favorites, but ######### like this erodes players' trust in that statement. At least the ones who are interested in fairness, that is...
Ah yes for the 1.5 seconds survivors will now have to escape the killer after using DS.
-
Mmmm maybe a slight .2 second reduction to her stun timer but thats it

I don't care for exactness on the 20/80 split. But for characters like Huntress, Hillbilly, Clown, & Ace, they deserve more shard-purchaseable outfits. Potentially, they could open up some older cosmetics to become shard-purchaseable. They should also stop focusing so hard on outfits for the same few characters. Like Yui is relatively new & already has more cosmetics than Adam. They should give underplayed characters a bit of love to entice people to start playing them more, though from a business standpoint I guess you would want to give love to the most popular characters.
Oh yeah 100%. Especially characters with over 30% purchase only cosmetics.

Cell prices are far too much for how much dlc is in the game tbh. I get that they need money but a game thats about $200 just to get all the dlc and buy the game is just really greedy.
Yeah I kinda agree since characters are $5-$8 but purple outfits are $10-$15
-
@TheRockstarKnight said:
Personally I don't mind the 10% difference at all. Heck, I wouldn't care if 50% or even 100% of all cosmetics were premium only. We're not entitled to free stuff.
What irks me is that they lied.
Like, it would have cost them nothing to either be honest and stick to what they said or just not tell us that only 20% of the outfits would be premium. The fact that they just went back on what they said because it was convenient upsets me.
It's just cosmetics right now, but still - lying is lying.
YES!!! Thats my exact point! While I would like more 'free' cosmetics I wouldn't mind if they had made them purchase only but its because they constantly assured us it would only be 20% is what bugs me! Especially on characters like Meg who have I think 6 or 9 Ultra rares and only 1 of them is shards purchase.

That's not what her description says:
She felt smothered by her parents who refused to see the potential of a future in games, so she left home and spent her time in internet cafes and LAN parties where the old rules didn't apply. She spent hours playing, streaming, competing to rise to the top. Her parents became what she called "holiday parents" as she never saw them outside the holidays, and she became the black sheep of a one-child-family.

It’s really really easy. You know how hard it is to play as a non broken killer against “master survivors”? You need game sense and a lot of mindgame potential. (Standing still as spirit like a penis and thinking you have the biggest brain ever doesn’t count) With spirit you need nothing but a ######### headset and to hold RMB :’D.
Thats literally just not true lol you're just a salty survivor who cant play against spirit and automatically think shes easy to play.

Stop
It's not, It's just not.
I swear to God if anybody ever even mentions the fact that the number "4" is shaped like Pyramid Head I'm going to lose it. OF COURSE IT IS It's the FOURTH anniversary aka the number Four. The devs can't change how the f*ck numbers or time works I could have told you that the number 4 looks kind of like Pyramid head four years ago and it would be utterly meaningless. That is purely coincidental, that's not actual evidence.
I mean seriously "The number four has a triangle in it... Pyramids are made of triangles... OHMYGODIT'SPYRAMIDHEAD"
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/957/image.png
That sh*t is conspiracy on the level of drawing triangles everywhere and saying "illuminati confirmed"
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/366/image.png
It is stylized in the form appropriate for a horror game / thematic. There is nothing more to read into that image, because if the 4 had significance than that means the whole image would require significance, what does the color pallete mean, why did they choose black and gold? Where is the connection of Gold to the Silent Hill franchise? What does the Skull mean? Why is there a black liquid oozing from the skull? How is that connected to Silent Hill? and so on and so on.
By this logic you'd also have to contend with Candyman as a potential candidate, based off the image alone. You don't have to change the number 4 that much if at all to draw comparisons to Pyramid Head, in fact I'd say it'd be basically impossible to draw the number 4 without looking like a side profile of pyramid head that's why I say it's completely coincidental. However, the decision to drag out the last line of the number 4 all the way down to the bottom of the image slowly getting thinner and thinner is a deliberate art choice made by whoever on the team was responsible for creating the art.
It almost looks like it's dripping, and what is gold and drips slowly like that? Honey. What killer is connected to Honey? How about The Candyman who was coated in the stuff and burned alive. That and considering the repeated use of the gold color spattered and speckled across the entire image I'd say you would have a stronger case for Candyman than Pyramid Head.
If I was a betting man I would be putting my money on Candyman considering all of those were deliberate art choices the team had to go out of their way to create making them much more likely to be hints. Whereas almost any 4 you could draw would at least look similar to the image of a side profile of pyramid head.
However, I don't put stock into either theory because it's just a teaser image for the 4th year anniversary, there are likely no "clues" or secret "hints" to find there, that would be far too predictable and easy to puzzle out. It's not like the third year anniversary teaser with the blood spatters making a three had any connection to the nearest chapter that was going to be released then at the time (Which I believe was Ghostface if I remember correctly)
And to put a serious dent in your it is "iconic in the world of horror since it's release" and "classic" argument, (which was partly based on Wikipedia of all things, really? Wikipedia is 50% of your sources? The one source that every english class ever tells you not to cite??) it is frankly not. "The world of horror" as a whole is far older than video games, and to be quite frank the video game industry is still very, VERY much new and pales in comparison to the much older and established industry of Film and TV who reach audiences at a far more expansive level and far wider range beyond even the most popular video games.
The characters that are most well recognized in terms of horror but just generally in all things are the ones that are shown on the big screen, people who aren't gamers are not going to know who Pyramid Head is. Hell, I'm a gamer and I'm not interested in Konami or the Silent Hill franchise though I've heard about it. Making such an announcement would only be interesting to a select audiences ears and nobody else, but those same people would on the other hand recognize the bad-ass Xenomorph, or super creepy Pennywise the dancing clown, or the Predator, or Pinhead, Candyman, literally anybody else. There's a very large difference between what's recognizeable to horror fans and the general public at large- Pyramid head is not recognizeable at all to the latter and even for the former you'd have to specify and boil down to horror fans who play video games which is an even smaller and more specific demographic.
Can Pyramid Head ever make it into the game? Absolutely, and he'd probably be super dope and creepy too. But for this chapter? The one that has been hyped up as the singlehandedly most important and emotional chapter in the history of Dead By Daylight TO DATE? Hell no. If that were actually true I and I assume very, very, very many other people would be incredibly disappointed.
Dont you feel stupid now

Hmmm the new survivor is Heather Mason HOWEVER theyve added legendary cosmetics which change the character youre playing. For example Heather has 1 legendary cosmetic which makes her Lisa Garland rather than Heather Mason.
