I have people DC against me in maybe 1/4 to 1/3 of my matches, depending on what killer I am playing. I have already shown you enough proof. I am done wasting my time arguing with you.
This is so out of the main topic. Besides, I've noticed that you tend to disregard every argument others have mentioned. If you just disagree because "you're too good" and limit yourself to assume, not even bothering to consider facts, well...
To be honest, you already stated that you "knew" this was a post that only purpose was to rant about the Ruin change, which is not, but, if you do believe so, you should stop wasting your time as people here are having a real discussion about this.
Cheers.

Author's writing is not illegible or improper for most. Thus it's not a wall of text, and it is a maximum 5 minute read.
You provide no substance for your text. He said this will affect long term. What you say is new players make more money. When i read that carefully, i understand you did not read what you typed, nor what he typed.
Thank you. People see more than three pharagraphs and are scared.
That's exactly my point. All players, independent of their prefered role, will suffer if these changes keep mantaining this tendency. My intention wasn't to just cry over a nerf, but dig deeper into what this excessive nursing for new players means to everybody.
Hope I'm wrong and everything turns out great!

As someone who enjoys playing Bubba, it seems like even whilst using Nemesis/PWYF - I'll have to sweat, or just be downright an ass by tunneling & camping to win.
Ruin gave me time to play fair. It allowed me to make 1-2 hooks if I was somewhat lucky. Now? If its a big map, then it is pretty much gg.
"How dare you?! You should be able to kill them all without no major issues. If you can't do it, you're just simply crying and are a baby killer" - Average survivor

Considering 90% of the threads are killers complaining about the ruin nerf, can you really blame me? I need a TL;DR for that wall of text.
Balancing around new players makes more money. The hardcore vets are a very small percentage of the player base. That's the reason for these changes.
I'm not complaining just because of Ruin. Of course it's one of the reasons, not only due to the nerf itself, but what it means. Besides, if 90% of them are complaining, IT IS because of something, right?
I am also aware of that. That doesn't mean it's right or that I have to agree with it. That's why I'm complaining.

Just want to go over one point:
"1) Pip system simply does not work properly for killers"
Thing is, only minor things should get changed. The Pip System should be a different one for each Killer. E.g. a Trapper should not be penalized in the Gatekeeper Emblem, because he needs to prepare at the start. Or the Chaser Emblem should not punish people for using their ability (Plague, Billy for example), but reward Legion, who stabbed a Survivor 30 times without doing any meaningful impact, resulting in an undeserved Iridescent Chaser Emblem.
Also, while they are doing Changes to the Gatekeeper Emblem, I feel that it should be Iridescent when not all Gens are done when the last Survivor dies (or escapes via Hatch). Because the Killer did his Objective, not all Gens were done, why not give the maximum reward?
Regarding your 3 minute game with Oni: I think this is fair. You obviously played vs some Potatoes. Should you really be rewarded for playing vs players below your own Skill Level, when you did not even have a challenge? I dont think so.
Interesting points. However, I doubt they will take the chore of doing so. Great idea though.
I do not agree on that. So, you shouldn't be rewarded for doing the ONE thing you are meant to (of course, omiting the break pallets, chase, etc). Sometimes they are not potatoes, they are cocky survivors who make more than one mistake. That shouldn't be on the killer.

Help DBD is dying, help help. My ruin is getting nerfed!
I personally didn't say the game is dying, but I believe its health will be affected in the long term because of the things I stated. I never said the game is gonna die because they nerfed ruin.

I know! As you mentioned, the lore states that someo group know about its existence and there's actually a cult to it. If I remember correctly, The Observer talked about multiple dimensions and the Entity consuming some. Very Lovecraftian lore, I love it!

A lot of Killers use Ruin. A lot of Survivors use Adrenaline. The biggest and worse mistake that behavior has made is allow SWF to become a thing.
Communication is a huge nerf to every Killer. The ability to call out a Killers position stance and direction is way to powerful it's why there is no comms in the actual game. Why do you think there is only a handful of actually landmarks in game.
Anyway I'm done playing Killer for a good bit better start learning all those loops.
It's great to play with friends, but the problem is that I believe, the first design is not compatible with this mode, thus making these changes very inconsistent. I don't have problem with Ruin as survivor or Adrenaline as killer, the problem is they ignore facts like what you said: trapper is unplayable at higher ranks because you put a trap, and the SWF group know where, so when you move, it's already disabled, crippling your power. Lol.
So, yes. Ruin is pretty much mandatory and yes, you can play without it (I myself have done it and had some great games) but then it's about survivors making mistakes, not a fair competition, and good survivors don't make mistakes and if they do, the game rewards mistakes (dead hard, adrenaline, balanced landing, whatever). And even though, it's a struggle without it.
Yes, it's plausible for lower ranks, but experienced players are the ones more impacted from this, and these changes are RIDICULOUS.

I can understand that, although the people who did earn them got to enjoy their exclusivity for over a year. You got to have something special that whole time, and now everyone has a chance to use them as well.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/835422#Comment_835422
That's a bit of a different story because it's another brand. It's got the Left 4 Dead logo on it so we can't just give them to everyone without permission from Valve first.
And I understand your position on this, but not 100%. While it is true that you never stated that the item will always be exclusive, the point of a limited time cosmetic is that if you earn it within the stated period, you won't be capable of doing so later.
At the end, we are all just talking in gray. I understand you want all players to have the same opportunities while eliminating the issue of people taking advantage of exclusive items, but I personally wouldn't ignore players who earned them through dedication and I would give something to them to keep that item distinction.
Anyways, I hope you consider this at the end. Thank you again for your continuous support.
Cheers.

There's two main reasons:
- Loss of progress. There is an issue where early event cosmetics would sometimes disappear due to an error. We would have to manually re-apply them to each person one by one, which can take quite a while. Often times we would get a surge of those tickets and it would make a huge backlog of tickets, slowing down support across the board.
- There's no way to get them. Lately, we've started to make sure that things are available to everyone. The Hallowed Blight and Withering Blight events are a good example of this; you play, you earn event currency, you trade that currency in for cosmetics. Missed the event but really want a particular outfit? You can grab it from the store. This way you can earn it for free, but you're not totally out of luck if you miss the event.
The simple version is because we want a clean slate. We want to make sure that everyone has the same opportunity to earn them going forward.
As for legacy, we're not looking to re-release that because we have promised in the past that it wouldn't be returning. We don't want to go back on that promise if at all possible.
While the two reasons are completely understandable and I aprecciate the solution you're offerring to many, it does not answer some of the things I've mentioned. People who worked hard on them and earned the event exclusive items are pretty much avoided in favor of this and that's something I, and many others, do not like, of course.
That does not mean I hate you and I hate the game and all, I love it, and I love the support you've given to it, but it's the first time I really dislike one of your solutions, and I feel put aside.
Thank you.
pd: To everyone commenting about the event being easy and all, it's irrelevant. People who earned it through dedication to the game to achieve the exclusive item should have the rewarding feeling of having it because someone did not do it, whatever the reason.
-
I share your opinion on this.
I understand the key selling dilemma and that console players couldn't get the past event skins but I do not believe it's enough reason to give them away.
Same as you, the Hound mask, the Pro-Pain and Song Bird were rewards given after the hard grinding of the events. I had a very good sense of exclusivity when I got them, because we EARNED THEM. That was the point and it's completely appart from the key selling or exclusivity issue.
And I 100% agree with you. While it's somewhat different, Legacy skins should be given too if they want to be "consistent", as you pointed out. That's the thing. If someone couldn't get it when it was available, it's a shame but it's exclusive, and players who got them should feel good about it.
If someone wants to pay 400 dollars for a cosmetic key, it's on them. I don't support the sellers or anything, but it's YOUR responsability. People who spent money on these keys now practically gave it away. However, doing this will stop people who took advantage of this.
I apprecciate the intention, but I really believe this is too radical and pretty much destroys what people did in the past to earn them, at least with the past event cosmetics. You could do something to the current owners of those items in order to make a difference between people who actually earned them and those who just got it for free.
Or just give us everything plus Legacy skins, if you are up to it.
Cheers.

Would be nice as DLC
I agree. I'd be very happy if we receive a Ghostface DLC rather than a skin. They still have lots of characters to put in the game!

- Could be Tinkerer.
- I'm almost certain you're confusing lag spikes for lagswitching. The former is very common and will become more common the more killers leave the game, since the only ones left will be from poorer regions who have few alternatives in terms of games.
- This should become better with the introduction of dedicated servers, as the devs will be able to ascertain, with 100% certainty, if it was an intentional DC or a game crash or whatnot.
- You could be completely right but the times I've encountered this and checked the killer perks they do not have Tinkerer nor Monitor & Abuse. I'll keep checking nonetheless.
- No confusion about this. The "teleport" effect that Lag Switching provides are ALWAYS from a particular survivor and potential zones. For example, I've always encountered this near pallets or hooks and the rest of the match they are completely fine. Lag Spikes are common as you point out and are very differentiable.
- So I've read. I really hope that the DC thing will be more punishable when Dedicated Servers come so the people who do it enjoy their last months doing what they want.
Thank you for your response!
