  • before defending totems was somewhat doable with lifeguard whistle since it would give detection right away, but it doesn't do that anymore. And you may be more likely to lose gens trying to defend the totem, especially now since you have to constantly shred, which would slow you down hunting survivors, which you have to walk around since you wouldn't want to risk the portal tp cooldown, especially if you aren't running rotten pumpkin in order to pop a portal immediately to check.

For basement, there is usually a door nearby and springtrap has a pretty easy time camping the door or waiting in it. Not that I really want to defend basement trapper or hag style, it is a pretty boring playstyle.

I mean yeah, demos tp is pretty much useless if you are not 3 genning as no sentient being will be surprised by a demo teleport cuz as you said its is beyod telegraphed. Also a PSA the global tp cue for springtrap is not a faint noise like what you imply, when he is using his tp all ambient sounds get muffled, thats how you know he is using the tp, hope that helps you when you face him.

I am a bit deaf, I have listened for it, I can't tell. I can tell sadako's metal grinding sound but have a much harder time with springtrap's non noise

  • the door is around the corner partially masking the sound or it is so close to the gen that it is a free hit unless you are right by a pallet or window and sometimes it is facing away so you can't see the panel. If it is a gen in more of a deadzone and you don't have overcome you may get 2 tapped.
And while you are staring at the door you also have to swivel and look all around since they have 20-30 seconds of undetectable so they might come out of another door. They make noise walking but it is deafened depending on walls. I was in shack and one came up from behind to the window without me noticing since I was really focused on the one in the shack with me.
Its also odd that there isn't a lullaby like sadako has when she is undetectable. Pig has to give up speed and a quick attack for her silence for the chance of getting a grab, and she has to walk there, up hill both ways in the snow

Yeah, i only played a few games but thankfully could see the door at pretty much all the gens i was at. The new update makes the doors (and all killer items) spawn closer to the gens, and it kind of worked out well for survivors on that front.

except for when the doors are facing the other way

  • I keep getting axed in the open and essentially cant find anything to loop before he grabs me even with me trying to get it off from the start

  • for spring trap, it ma be like when nemi was added, new players who need the training wheels and hard tunnel.

  • @Nazzzak said:

The small panel on the door flashes when he's TPing towards you. Much better pre warning.

if you can see the front of the door. Its maddening if that whoosh sound is the signal, while demo has a map wide unmistakable sound

  • Can demo please come out of his portals invisible without the unsubtle map wide sound please.

  • kicks have extra regression, I find so many gens nearly done gens at nothing.
Sit back and enjoy the chases, it is a fun mode,

  • I always notice it at the most sus times, ie someone gets tunneled again or camped, its never seems to happen when the killer isn't in chase with anyone or losing severely, so I was assuming someone is ddos the lobby

  • For his complaint about getting better perks that aren't behind a paid dlc character I dont find too big of a deal. Lately my goto perks are bond, kindred calm spirit and botany, (before UW it was open handed from ace which is easily replaceable with other meta perks like any means, pebble or an actual exhaustion perk)

Most of his other frustrations seem to stem from not really knowing where they are stuck due to technical limitations. Since the game was built in 2016 and some stuff may need big changes to actual implement and none of that is really evident from our perspective.

Bhvr should have him sign an NDA and have a couple of meetings with him to looop him in, when new DLCs drop he pulls 10-20k viewers, it is in their best interest to you know listen to the biggest influencer to their game, I mean most of what he is saying is actually pretty level headed and makes sense for the total game. Its not like other people complaining about small things that only effects a very small handful of players

I'm working on setting up a page people can visit in the future and bookmark since they aren't getting stickied anymore. But i might not have it done for a little while.

I put in a generic google search for one of your threads (DBD tome 16 bloodpoints) than find the latest through your profile/discussions page

  • I didn't like how they initially planned it, with 45 second built in unbreakable, but if they were to introduce it when there is only 2 people left in the match to prevent slugging forever for the 4k or when there is only one person left standing to keep from slugging a team to death, or to give a bleed out option instead.

  • This is the only time basekit unbreakable should be a thing, if there is only one survivor left standing than anyone slugged should be able to get up, or alternatively give a bleed out function.

The other alternatives they had were a bit much, ie after 45 seconds at any time

  • i mean, after 4 minutes you go to the next match and you won

Whats broken with it again? I dont use it much but my friend does and it sounds like its working perfect for him.

big black bubble hides killer aura sometimes, even with extra time from open handed

Forever freddy was way more annoying than actual Legion or Plague.

nah 3 slowdowns so the gens never progress and always 1 hit away from being down while not being able to hide bc of coughing or killer instinct

  • if you click on their score you should get the view profile menu if thats what you are looking for

Since we're sharing personal experiences, here's mine

Context: Left for Elden Ring in February, came back for a few days on the Anniversary Event then left until this week. This are my first impressions after the balance updates. I been playing with the same casual build I've used before: Sprint Burst + Clairvoyance + Inner Healing + Small Game. I play SQ.

TLDR: games have been really unfun.

Most killers I've played against continue to double down on slowdown perks despite the increased gen time. What seemed to be an incentive to rely less on those types of perks and bringing forward builds focused on different playstyles became just another motivation to delay the late game us much as possible.

Thanatophobia is the worst offender IMO. While most regression perks were nerfed to compensate, Thana became much better not because of its 0,5% per stack increase but due to base gen time going up. Combined with the cumulative nerfs to healing we've been seeing, survivors have to stay injured for longer, increasing the perk's value and indirectly the killer's lethality.

On the survivor side, my experience probably biased as I was possibly deranked due to my time out. That said, teammates were what you can expect of SQ except they seem much more prone to disconnecting which caused most games to derail. Not sure what the motivation was until I started seeing the same boring experience of working on gens and barely seeing any progress. I suspect that before the update, one motivation to stay in a game was seeing that you managed to run the killer for 1 or 2 gens, but that is mostly gone in low ranks of SQ, so people just DC.

Personally, playing SQ has been difficult. Less and less frequently I've been seeing myself enjoying a match and I don't play to win, I play for fun. Gens are taking forever and in the most boring way. Most matches feel like barely any progression was achieved before the first down it's like every killer I face is as boring as unengaging as old Forever Freddy or pre-nerf Ruin/Undying Blight.

I really miss a more casual experience. I do not want to be forced into Second Chance or Repair Speed perks every match just to be able to live long enough to have fun interactions with my team or the killer.

so much this, just about every match has 3 slowdowns. it feels like forever freddy and is super boring.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/337554/killer-is-easy-mode-now

The main reasoning for the sudden torrential downpour of "Killer is too easy" and "Killer is OP" posts, statements, and testimonials galore is from survivor players unwilling to adapt thinking that if they make enough of a scene that the developers will hike back some of the killer buffs.

From my perspective Dead by Daylight is fairly balanced overall, minus The Nurse, The Blight, along with the maps. If you get a Blight or Nurse on a smaller map then you're in for a very rough match. However, if you get Nurse or Blight on the Red Forest Realms then with the sheer scale of the levels suddenly their powers lose a lot of their strength. Of course, if you get Trapper or Leatherface on those maps it's now miserable again, etc.

The one problem plaguing Solo Q at the moment is a lack of skill and coordination. Survivor was the power role for such a long time that they were chosen as the "casual" role. We've all probably heard Dead by Daylight players saying as much in the past, I know I have. So it's only given that survivors that never needed to coordinate, strategize, or actually make an effort to win would be caught off-guard in this new Dead by Daylight.

For a while I have opposed the in-game coms system as I personally don't want my illusion of a mature fan-base shattered instantly by a squall of the shrill screams of children threatening to unhook themselves if they aren't being saved. However, given the match I just came out of, I doubt a ping would have done a darn thing. How are you supposed to tell your teammates to stop trying to save you and that the killer is in your face? I had Kindred III, and yet my allies who had thoroughly run a Blight around Red Forest repeatedly just tried to unhook me in the killer's face and got torn of the hook with a grab over and over. How could a "show me the other survivors" ping actually help.

As much as I positively LOATHE to say it, the SoloQ update might need coms, or at the very least, a preset text chat. Like Chivary or Mordhau where you press Z or X then a number to select a prompt from a list. That way you can't BM in the chat. Add a 3-4 sec cooldown so one player can't spam and have all messages be presets and that just might work.

i think it is due to just about every killer running 3 slowdowns

Before the update, no one would have called Legion OP or Thana strong. But that 0,5% buff really got people rolling...

its not thano that is the problem, it is bc they run 3 slowdowns, the games all feel like forever freddy games

  • i think it is due to just about every killer running 3 slowdowns. the games all feel like forever freddy games

  • i think it is due to just about every killer running 3 slowdowns. the games all feel like forever freddy games

  • my matches were all 3 slowdowns, gens stay at 3 or 4 forever

  • If I get a game like this where the survivors seem to be unhookable I just wait by the exit gates and move onto a less stressful/more enjoyable game. I don't mind losing but I'm not looking for a nearly impossible unless I sweat my trapper sack off match

  • @Thusly_Boned said:

Maybe I am missing something, but unless you simply stop putting any BP into a character, you're going to get to at least P6 as a matter of course, and it probably won't take that long.

I can see absolutely no good reason to prestige right now. Unless you are a total completionist who wants the cosmetics on character you have no intention of ever using again.

I mean the same could be said for P3, and that itself took way too long, just making big gains now because other people are still putting on flans, some are presumably trying to do the same thing

  • @TheMadCat said:

I'm not sure what you mean by "copied", but the new prestige system will be out with the mid-chapter update. I wanna guess it's coming in a dozen of days, as it's been almost three weeks since the PTB.

If you care about bloody cosmetic and you don't mind losing perks/items/addons, prestige now.

meant sort of like for how the PTB doesn't take when you have at that instant, but they copy over from a set time.

  • @Tatt3dWon said:

It really doesn't matter all you get is a pee animation on the picture it goes live in a couple weeks.

I don't really think I have the desire to P6 the characters for the bloody cosmetics, and I'll always get more add ons, although most of the time I play with either no addons or really crappy ones. So I value the cosmetics more than the addons and toolboxes

  • As a killer, I usually don't try to defend it, it is tedious and boring, especially if they have a boon to recover or take off before I get there.
