Half the time the ones they release for her are ugly af.
Agreed, megs cosmetics suck. She got a toilet paper wrap for a top and her new lace top (its really pretty)comes with a fugly skirt to match with it tho. They always seem to fail one way or the other. I wish they just made a standard body for these characters that way we can mix and match cosmetics rather than be limited per character.

is just my opinion but that would be a very stupid idea. is a horror game we dont need that-
I totally understand and respect your opinion. However it's how girls dress, feminine. Crop-tops, tank tops, short-shorts, skirts, whatever it is. it's how people are dressed in this year. Doesn't matter how girls are dressed end of the day it's going to be horror and I don't see you complaining about Dwights (a man) elf cosmetic it's too goofy and it's still part of the game.

Community coming up with good ideas? No.
The new Clown and Feng rift cosmetics aren't anything special at all. Feng is cool but definitely an outfit that will die quick; Clown is a somewhat below average cosmetic that Clown mains are wearing.
And the "leaked" Bunny Feng Min looks absolutely terrible.
I agree, they need better cosmetic Ideas overall. I was looking forward to the Feng Min Bunny hoodie outfit but it looks butched up.

I don’t think you understand what butch actually is because most of the cosmetics in dbd are definitely not butch.
I perfectly understand what butch is, I'm part of the LGBTQIA+ community. That's pretty offensive since you're pretty much saying I don't understand my community that I'm a part of and very active with. There IS tons of BUTCH options in DBD.
-
@pemberley said:
There’s nothing wrong with butch. In fact, there should be more butch cosmetics. I actually think there’s already a lot of feminine ones.
You already have a ton of butch options in dead by daylight since it's filled with it.There is nothing wrong with butch However it's only catering to ONE specific audience. I've seen few feminine option so far with SOME characters. However they always have a butch/tomboy edge to it. In my opinion it is selfish you think we need more butch cosmetics since we have no options of feminine cosmetics so far.
-
I just imagine most of the team who design these cosmetics are men who love that roughhouse man looks for women. I would love to see some women in the DBD department have some stylish feminine choices as well. I get that Kate and Claudette got one party set. I loved Claudette's big hair and makeup but even then Kates top looks like a big bird costume. I just hope the design team takes more time to actually learn what feminine looks in the everyday woman. Also would love if they just did a base body for their characters so we can just mix and match cosmetics to any of our characters.

What? Dude people have been using racist insults in video games for decades. People have been racist in this game ever since it released in 2016. Removing the Claudette face will not stop people from being racist in this game. They’ll just use other ways. Are you just trolling now?
Attitudes like yours appropriate racism.

So cutting a face off a person and wearing it as a mask is ok. But cutting the face off a person with different skin color then you and wearing it as a mask is bad?
Try to understand what I've just repeated over time again. Follow up with this thread and all its comments.

@Orion said:
Using the mask by itself is not racist or offensive by itself, since there are multiple reasons someone may use or prefer that and you can't have any idea whats inside their heads, if its combined with harassment and/or blatant racism then its already a bannable offense, just report that and they'll be removed.
As I said before various of times. It is blackface, mask itself has been use to be shown as blackface. I get the fact that you can report users for being racist and harassment however people are still just using Claudette face as a tool of racism

Sorry but comparing it to actual, historical blackface is wrong.Unlike the real, nowadays very looked down upon Blackface, LF doesn't do it for mockery, its simply based on his habit of creating faces out of human skin, his most iconic mask, is white and he has an asian too. There is no evidence that it has been put in for actual racist intentions. Its Claudette having met the wrong man at the wrong time, like all the others.
Umm.... Are you serious? it is black face.. he is wearing a face that is black.. How do you not comprehend that? Leather face itself doesn't do it as a mockery for himself is a character and I get the fact that he is a killer and does not discriminate however this is a game and people online use it as a tool as a mockery and trolling which comes off offensive in in-game chat when you're being told the N-word. This is a tool that players use to just be down right racist and offensive using Claudette face as a mockery. Same with jake because that is "yellow" face

Pretty much the best answer to be given in this case. +1Even though i'm not african american, I just know better than to be this racist about a serial killer taking equal rights into what face he would like to wear~
Worst part about this is these same exact people posting this would be pissed if claudette was the only original survivor excluded from it, No win scenario here.
Survivors like doing Yellow face aka jake and claudette its pretty offensive. I just think leather face should just have his own face and that's it. take away all the cosmetics.

SoylentPixie said:OP, for me, this post goes the same way of all the spirit rage threads. In the damn bin.
Not because i don't believe you don't have a right to take issue with this cosmetic. I don't see it as racist because my mind isn't trained to turn something innocuous to me, into something with more meaning, plus I'm usually too busy running from his damn chainsaw to notice whose face he's wearing. However that does not mean someone else cannot take offence to it, if they find offensive meaning. I don't agree with you, but i can sit back and at least try to see it from someone else's point of view.
An ability you sadly seem to lack yourself.
What you have done in this thread is the same thing many have done, the same thing that has rendered their threads soon forgotten or closed down, and their grievances ignored by devs.
You refuse to listen to reasonable posts (please note by this i do NOT mean their posts are right and yours are wrong) because they do not adhere to YOUR interpretation of this cosmetic. You are insulting and in some cases downright rude and dismissive to people who are not immediately grabbing up their flag and joining your charge.
And you aim to try and get what you want by A) Asserting that the cosmetic IS racist despite that not being the intention and only asshat players using it as such which is very few and far between, and B.) pretty much verbally stamping your foot because you think it will get you your way.
Now, you can scream ignorant and racist at me till you're blue in the face and it wont make a blind bit of difference to me. I damn well KNOW in my heart of deepest dark hearts, that i am not a racist, and living in the UK while sick groups like the English Defence League are shouting loud and proud, I'm sure as s**t not ignorant to how serious the situation is outside of video games.
If you truly wanted to do something about this apparently sore subject, then perhaps speaking to the devs directly (there are ways and means if you are passionate enough about your issues) would have been a better plan, rather than charging in here with a demand and belittling anybody who's opinion does not stride alongside yours. You have turned what might have been a legitimate complaint you might have been able to do something about, into a damn circus.
Amen.
You're defending them you're never going to change sit down take a seat cause you're not going to change your prespective. I'm tired of constantly being attacked and trying to nicely tell my side and tell people my thought process however I continue to be attacked by people telling me I'm uneducated and throw insults to my face saying my opinion is not valid when it is. You do not know things I've been through. I'm glad you don't see things as racist as much because these things are not targeted at you on a daily basis. I'm so glad that you live that life and that privilege. However things like this I've seen and been attacked about the pigment of my skin is not okay to do. I do not like seeing this made as a mockery.

I have had many discussions in real life with educated people about these very ideas. In fact, in some ways, I used to think like you. But Then I started learning and reading....from real educators. I actually began to seek more knowledge, unlike you....who claim to know everything. How does the saying go...
"Trust those that seek the truth and be wary of those that claim to have it"
Telling me to get my teeth ripped out and insulting me tells me exactly how much growing up you have to do yet. I encourage you to do just that, and if you are so passionate, take just one sociology class when you're old enough to go to college.
In the mean time, good luck.
You can say all you want. Who are you? no one knows. for all I know you're bathing in your own feces when you can say you're bathing in rose water. Unlike you you choose to be small minded and narrow minded defending black face is wrong and disgusting. You're just quoting some googled quote acting like you know everything when you're definitely a troll. No one cares how you portrait yourself because in reality people do resort to violence and when they have had enough they will act and I am grown unlike you where you think everyone shits flowers and tosses bouquets at each other in a imaginary world or a "privileged" one like yours. if you are what you say you are then you are not educated and far off rude insulting my opinion and others saying that ours is not validated when we did have the "privilege" to have our colleges paid or worry about our family affairs rather than continue it. Do not degrade people due to their education or status in the world because that is down right rude. Not everyone has the same opportunities as others and as a "educated" person you so claim to be. Read your words wisely before entering what you type.

@Cetren said:
In all seriousness though, there's not much you could/should do about it. If it offends you that much, don't play the game. I'm fairly religious and there's obviously games that step toes with that, let's go with outlast for example. Burning crosses, heresy, whatever. My solution is that since I don't like it, I don't play the game. Ez pz.Yeah, if you give up there is nothing you can do about it. I have played dbd since it was in beta. I've been a supporter since day 1 but I'm tired of seeing leather face's trolling using Claudette face because it is blackface and promoting that. I do not want to disconnect each game when I am playing survivor when playing against leather-face when he is using blackface. it is tremendously offensive. I get that burning crosses is offensive and all but if its a part of the core game then theres nothing to do but not play the game. However with deadbydaylight it is a added content and it is offensive.

@Khalednazari said:
Leatherface wears Claudette, because Claudette is beautiful
She is beautiful however it is still offensive since he is doing blackface.

@Attackfrog said:
Nobody is validating blackface. Blackface itself is old. Nowadays, a fictional character should be able to wear a mask of any color without drawing attention to blackface. The motives for black face and a killer wearing a different mask are polar opposites. We need to let those old racist trends die And not be afraid to move on.
And again, there has to be a line. If we removed every tool for racism, we would not exist, because we have to remove our very brains and means to communicate. There has to be some level of reason.
You are validating it by merely defending it, It is old but it is offensive still to this day. especially these past two years where there is more racism than ever before. Those old ways will never die because that is part of history and you are saying let history die out. People still use it as a degrading manner and as a racist joke. You however find it suitable for people to still do it and encourage it... I'm not sure where you came from but educate yourself about it and why people are offended by it. I encourage you to do that before further commenting. because you are just trying to justify racism. I hope no one ever catches you defending black face in public because it would not end up nicely as this forum.. you're whole stance is racist.

@Attackfrog said:
Now this is making more sense to me. This argument is actually nothing to do with race and more toward lore and I can definitely see that side of it. Getting rid of masks across the board (not just the black or white ones) makes sense.In fact, including non-lore cosmetic items is offensive to fans of the franchise, regardless of skin color!
Yeah like if it was just his standard lore masks sure. but the rest of the masks aren't necessary. especially Claudette.
-
@Attackfrog said:
Yes, but there has to be a line. This is still a horror game with brutal acts of violence. Just because a few people can.misuse one of the props to harass a few people is not a reason to remove something from the game.
If we only allowed white masks or only allowed a black character to wear black masks then we are not creating equality. We are actually destroying it.
You can't control someone else's racist actions or motives, but you can still enjoy the gruesome aspect of someone wearing Claudette s face. We need to be the bigger people and look beyond the color of the skin, whether it's in the killer or his mask....And isn't seeing beyond skin color the ultimate goal?
How can you look beyond skin color when you are treated differently because of it? How can you look beyond it if we are different pigments. It can be set in your mind but not others. Unfortunately a MAJORITY of people use it as a troll prop and use it for offensive purposes. The developers gave a troll piece to people who are small minded to use it in a degrading manner. You can't control people and their intentions however you can take away the tools they use to do that. there is a reason why in the movies he wasn't shown wearing a black persons face because it roots down to a offensive action that was called blackface. You are validating something racist which is offensive toward people of color.
-
@Carpemortum said:
Right. But do you think if theyd of carved a POC's face off do you think it would have been called blackface? Or realized that leatherface kills all out of fear for his family. He doesnt see race. But had it happened, nobody would have just looked at the cannon and casting of a POC, but would have just looked at the easy negative.
Leather face isn't real, its a writer who wrote leather face inspired by real events with movie directors who chose wisely not to show people of color faces shown on a Caucasian person because it would be offensive. It roots back to racists events where people would paint their faces black. It is easy to look at it negatively when you have seen it happen. Not sure how you validate that.
-
@Attackfrog said:
It's only racist if he ONLY wears black faces.I get that you might think that, but he wears it. I'm angry because he the Caucasian leather face wears it and that the community abuses this cosmetic feature. I know that developers did not intend to make this offensive but "unfortunately" in your case and the developers it is.
-
@Carpemortum said:
So as opposed to focusing on real issues and actual accounts of blackface, you focus on the small, closed minded parts and let them bother you? It's not a racist cosmetic, people can make ANYTHING offensive. Fortnite NFL skins to be michael Vick with a dog backpack. Doesnt mean the cosmetics are to blame.You're still not getting the point, You're saying this isn't a real issue. Honey where are you? You are not sleeping are you? What are you typing on? where is that screen? is it real?....TO GO BACK TO MY POINT. It is a REAL issue. I do not play fortnight nor NFL or what not and if it is a real issue address it. You have a voice. But do not go around unvalidating my opinion. When you're defending racism. case closed.
-
@Carpemortum said:
He doesnt wear a specific race in the movie because he kills who he kills. And wears their face. It was a nice tie in to use the games original characters.
It's a movie so movie directors had control of what he did not do so the audience wouldn't be offended. However the game art director didn't overlook this
-
@Attackfrog said:
Would it be ok if Leatherface was black instead of white?He isn't so there is no what if.
-
@Carpemortum said:
It's not blackface. Its leatherface. All people can be carved to fit his face and be in his chili. He does not discriminate. They used the original 4 characters. Simple as that... if the clown painted his face black with all the stereotypical racist addons, yes, it would be horrendously inappropriate.
I get that it wasn't meant to be offensive but developers are in-charge of this game and should of overlooked this with their game art director. This is offensive. There is a reason why in the movies of leather face there wasn't a black face shown that he was wearing, because he would of gotten a back lash from critics. On top of that some of the community who is small minded use this mask to troll and use it as a piece of ignorance by flaunting their racist comments on end game.

I also think you have to look at intent. Claudette mask wasnt put into this game to be racist. Neither was teabagging (the crouch feature).
I don't really believe this mask is any sort of reference to blackface. Some people might be able to take it there, but only if you let them.
Tbagging is only harassment if i take it to mean just that. Calling someone a name (ANY name) only holds meaning if the recipient is affected by it.
There are very real social issues that exist whether I, you, or anyone take offense to them or not. I believe that if you are going to get upset over a racial issue, let it be one that holds very real consequences for the victims. What are the consequences of Claudettes mask in this game?
Saying that This isn't a REAL social issue.. It's a online game, there is social interaction in the game. You just got contradicted yourself it does have a effect on people because Look at this discussion, people who got effected and your merely shrugging it off. I'm not sure who you are and where you come from where you think it is okay to do blackface but it effects people you see me and other people on this thread being effected by it and telling us that this isn't a issue when we are clearly being effected by it and probably thousands of others who don't have a voice in the community. sit down cause you are not typing on a imaginary computer are you? it is real. WAKE UP. The consequences of Claudette mask in the game is having people mock us and using it as some troll piece and calling us the N word which tends to end up in the game. Take a look into our prespective rather than yours because I can't see how you are justifying it. Maybe it wasn't their intent to be racist in the game when they put it in, but it is and it does offend people. To a majority of people it looks like blackface. I get that t-bagging can be annoying but we are discussing about the blackface at the moment.

Well I am because you are defending blackface because there is YOU VS THEM if black people are being mocked your laying down and letting them trample you and your ancestors because there is being blackface being thrown at your face constantly and people using it as a troll cosmetic. Holy ######### when did these people come up here? LF is a serial killer that wears the faces of his victims. And you know, Claudette happened to be black. You really are scraping the bottom of the barrel trying to find racist ######### that isn't there. Leave this garbage at Twitter please.Yeah I get that LF is a serial killer and that he wears his victims face. DBD is a pretty cool game and I'm sure you'll agree! However this is still a game where people have control of it and decided to put a Black face on a Caucasian male. I'm grateful that we have representation in the community having Claudette as a main survivor. No, I would not like it all if it was no representation other than white in the community. But in my opinion which is my opinion and it is racist because it goes back down to the roots of Caucasians from 1830s it was a mockery of our race. I talk from someone who is a minority because I am angry. I am angry and that is valid. Who are you? god? no you aren't you however are offensive saying my anger is not valid and that I am not a minority when I am. You're merely just spreading hate and defending blackface which you are, and you are coming off offensive which overall seems like your goal. so get off this thread.

I'm glad this discussion is finally happening. There isn't a day that goes by where I look at my skin color and think of myself as someone who gets treated less than most people. Because this is the reality I live in day by day basis I'm used to it which is pretty said to say. I don't think it's asking too much to understand our side. Where in the past people have mocked our skin color for being too dark and advertising bleaching cream to make our complexion lighter. In the past Caucasian people were used blackface as entertainment, over doing their lips with lipstick and covering the whole face in black to mock and make us look silly. Black face was used to make a mockery of African Americans. So when i see a Caucasian putting a black mask on. Look at it in my perspective or at least try to. I get that some of you might say.. well he does white faces too.. well in the past Caucasian people didn't make fun of your whole race using some mask did they? No they didn't.
Exactly, I think people forget our history or they just refuse to step into our shoes. The ignorance needs to stop.
Words like that perpetuate the "us vs them"mentality. There is no such thing as "separate but equal" but phrases like the one you just used perpetuate that very separatism.
There is usually a double standard when things like this are called out (which you just highlighted), which is probably why there are so many "lol"s being thrown out in this thread.
There are very real race issues out there but the issue in this thread is definitely not one of them and focusing on this is a slap in the face to people who experience racism every day.
Real issues... There is tons out there, it is VERY separatism because We are SEPERATED. I'm holding myself back because I'm very sensitive to this subject. But this is an issue we can change if we brought this up to the devs. I'm a gamer and you are too. So understand our side. Clearly you did not do your history or failed at it because there is a double standard when you are a lighter pigment vs a darker pigment in day to day life. You get treated as a second class citizen if you are a darker tone than WHITE. You get hate speeches thrown at you or you get assaulted for just existing. I don't get why theres tons of "lols" maybe because people like you have never experienced being in our shoes. In peoples shoes who don't get represented that well in social media. The only slap in the face from your comment is the entire thing. So take a seat because you do not understand our struggle your merely talking out of your behind without any experience in our history.
