  • Hey is something actually happening? My ping went from 60 to 170 and it has been like that for days. My friend's ping went from 90 to literally 500 at worst. It feels like we are connecting to wrong servers, killers also constantly have red pings in our matches.

  • My theory is this. If your performance can be judged from 1-5, 5 being the best possible, you will be matched with other players who play at your level no matter what their grade is. So if you just bought the game 2 hours ago, destroy the first killers you play against as a survivor, you are a level 5 survivor (still at ash grade) and now you will be matched with, for example Iridescent I level 5 survivors, or gold III level 5 killers.

Point is, maybe the game isn't trying to kill you. It just thinks those Ash IV players, who couple days ago were rank 20's are as good as you because they performed well against some killers who had even less hours than them.

  • Hey I noticed the same! I have to lobby dodge all the time because of red ping. Does anyone have any answers?

  • This threat will just get lost here. Maybe you should try to give them suggestions on the channel made for them, so that you will have your voice heard.

  • Also when you are running while injured, it will say what button to press to activate it

Even with three kills i know i should pip on some of the games but dont

There was a visual bug some time ago that made it so that you couldn't see if you gained a pip after a match on the score screen, only in lobby

  • What's bothering me is that I can't figure out what makes this game so addicting that I return to it almost everyday.

  • That's not an issue with hitboxes but latency. Getting hit trough apallet means that the killers hit connected to the server before the pallet was completely dropped, either because the killer had better connection to the server or because you pressed space after they clicked to hit you.

  • Nemesis

I always end up in situations on which I can't do anything. Dropping the pallet or not dropping it both means rip. Same with windows

  • If the survivors had been "trash", would this post exist?

And tbh being trash is okay, we all can't be gods

  • Had it been any other exhaustion perk, that chase could have ended before you landed the first hit, or it could have happened in totally different place. It's just that certain perks counter certain actions. Maybe you once slugged someone who had unbreakable, hit someone who was just saved with bt, walked trough a pallet carrying a survivor with power struggle and so on. It might feel unfair, but any other perk could have changed the outcome of that chase too.

  • Can't that be changed with perk builds? Maybe you should try to be the medic for one game and on other you want to play totally stealthy. Next game you try to fix most gens, pick up the pallets and sabo hooks to help your team. Perks like flashbang, any means necessary, for the people, breakout make the game more interesting. Even balanced landing works for that.

  • My games have been very inconsisten too! I have had teammates with thousands of hours, and teammates with literally under 2 hours. I really liked the idea of mmr, but it has also made me realize I would rather have my whole team getting stomped by the killer because they are a god, not because my other teammates have under 20 hours in the game.

  • Double pipping and if I do better than what I normally would, especially in chases.

  • My games have been extremely inconsistent. I have been checking how many hours my teammates have in the game, and some have had way over a thousand or two, and some under hundred. I literally had teammates with under 2 hours in the game and I personally have 600. Also same with the killers. My teammates had over thousand hours in the game, but we still went against a hag who had just bought the game. They didn't get a single hook ): Sad thing about that also was that I couldn't even let them hook me at the end game to cheer them up, because my mmr would have probably dropped a lot.

  • Oh also! Sometimes you desync from the servers. The server doesn't register your movement, so on killer's screen you stop moving/your character keeps running straight forward running into walls and stuff even if you were on the other side of the map doing a gen. Obviously they hit where they see you and on your screen you just randomly go down.

  • That always happens to me when I play past 22.00 o'clock. Also the Q times are super long at that time. Now if I play around 12.00 the Q times are instant and I get to play with other red ranks.

  • B-but what about camping, tunneling, stridor, noed, mori spirit )-: Had that yesterday, was epic.

  • I wish they would change hatchets to huge fireballs that burn through walls so that it would make more sense when they hit you

Here's a video you guys should watch!

  • Have you guys been extra dedicated today? In my first match I dropped 3 pallets and got hit through all of them, that continued to the rest of my games. First time in a really long time I also got hit through a wall (Oni went left with his power up, I went right and there was a wall between us, ping was normal). Not complaining, otherwise my games have been really fun, the movement seems a bit odd tho.

Either you or the killer desynced from the server. You can tell by the fact that he was stood where you would have been if you had kept running forward, rather than where you actually went. But this doesn't necessarily mean that either of you have internet issues.

The game on his end was still using the data from the last ping that he received on your inputs and then the game decided to favour him for the outcome of that period, likely because of 'favour the shooter'

This could be a number of issues, including the killer's own internet, but likely not tbh. They could also be using a VPN (cheating, basically, but probably not going by the start of that chase) which makes latency issues and desyncs much more frequent, though.

In short: the servers are horrendous. :D

Yes! I googled more about desyncing and seems like that is exactly what happened. Thanks for the answer!

  • The thing is, I wasn't lagging at all before that hit. I didn't get hit through windows or pallets, it was just that one hit that was totally off. If it was latency, I'm sure i would have gotten hit atleast on vaults.

  • Haha the best thing is when the deathslinger is using monitor and abuse and you get shot without even hearing the TR. Jumpscare much

don’t feel bad we all make mistakes! you’d be surprised at the “rank 1” survivors who go down quickly, camp pallets, waste pallets, and selfcare in the corner. I make mistakes a lot but I try to learn from them and of course laugh at it, don’t ever feel discouraged by constant mistakes ok? :)

    some perks i'd recommend are:

    • Windows of opportunity
    • Spinechill
    • Alert (highly underrated)

alert let’s you know where the killer is frequently as well as letting you know where to stay away from in a chase. it also helps with mindgames as once the killer breaks a pallet or damages a gen, you can see their aura for a bit and this is really helpful in chase because you can see their movement.

Yeah I do run Spine chill with resilience so that I don't get dedicated. Maybe I should try running alert for a while, could be useful :) Thanks for the encouragement!

Im usually just reading through the forums, but this sounds just like me, so here are my thoughts :D. I have 450 hours aswell now and I am playing around your rank.

I'd say the best you can do is keep on playing for fun. Seeing dbd too competitive and playing for ranks only ruins the fun.

Furthermore due to the ranking system you meet players in red ranks who have played around 400 hours or less, but also those with 5000 hours or more. So in relation, 400 hours is nothing and as a lot comes with experience you naturally look like a brainded headless chicken (not that a brain makes a difference if you are a headless chicken) compared to them.

It sounds like you know the theory, but it simply takes time to translate it into practice.

All in all: stop feeling bad and enjoy the game :D

Yeah I probs should work on my attitude a bit :D I'm glad there are some chill streamers like Puppers who I can learn from.

If it makes you feel better, I'm pretty sure I have a magnet connecting me and the killer. If I lose sight of the killer, whatever direction I decide to go will bring me right back to them.

Yes that is a wonderful skill to have, especially when you manage to lead the killer to other survivors without meaning :)

You have to always scan your surroundings wherever u go on the map, if you sit on a gen, look around to prepare for where you gonna go if the killer comes, you gotta always be alert, don't wait until the killer comes and then decide, you gotta know beforehand where u re gonna head!

For the windows, you don't need to look behind you, that way you can miss it, you can turn your camera right after you hit space to vault, that way you can look at the killer while vaulting. And most importantly, never panic when in chase, when you panic you mess up a lot, play chill.

Yes these are good tips and I'm aware of them. I always scan my surroundings (I even got my mouse sensitivity at 100% just for that) but if the killer comes around a corner or is in the cornfield, I will for sure bump into them. Might be because of I use earbuds rather than headphones tho.

And sometimes I just have to look if the killer is following me or coming around a corner when vaulting, so that I can cancel the vault if must.

I don't really know, like I know all the tips and tricks but I tend to screw up anyways at some point.

Do you play Killer too? Sometimes it can help to play the Killer too to better understand their weaknesses.

I tried playing killer at first but I didn't like it at all, it felt a bit too sweaty and I like having a team around me. I do watch heck ton of killer videos from different streamers and youtubers tho.

  • I would personally change spine chill to we'll make it so that I can be a bit more useful team member (I always play solo).

Also, if you are planning to stay injured (Iron will + ability to heal quickly if you have to), you could replace spine chill with resilience since you will get more use out of it.

  • There is a perk that causes that called "Bloodwarden", are you sure Freddy wasn't using it?

This can happen but its rare unless they just used sprint or balanced landing. Happens 100% of time. So they basically invulnerable to chainsaw during SB and BL.

That looked like you missed to me because meg turns right when your hitting animation begins. Also, I don't see meg going any faster at any point. Sb lasts for only 3 secs, and by the time you used you chainsaw meg had runned for 5 secs. Also you were able to catch up to her around the car by just walking, so no way that was sb.

  • That is not how babysitter works. The unhooked leaves no trails of blood, it's the bug that causes that unless you are using Iron will

EDIT: oops seems like someone already answered

  • Yes, it is a strat, but if you take away someone's chance to play the game by tunneling them second they are taken off the hook or by facecamping them, that cannot be "not toxic". You probably ruined that person's experience, just to get a kill.

Tho I undesrtand if you want to secure a kill when there is like 1 genny left. Then you can tunnel, camp, whatever. Also, tunneling a person if you leave them slugged is fine too imo.

  • Puppers is a coolio <3 He's always so positive and his attitude is amazing. I also like how playful he is. I do watch most of the content creators on the list too

  • Worse is when there are crows next to the genny, and while you are repairing it they get scared, fly away, return, get scared, fly away, return and it continues until you are done.

  • Sometimes when I'm under a pallet, it doesn't even give me an option to hit space )-:

  • When I try to run forward, but instead of pressing W I press Q and stay still + get downed. Also spirit with Stridor makes me want to cry

  • I haven't played for that long, but the community and the atmosphere seems so negative and all. Like _everything_ is toxic. The devs are "awful and biased and horrible" and what not. Many players seem so sweaty and competitive. I would like to know how old people on average play this game, because many of them feel so immature. But I love the game tho.

  • Also some perks can and will help you! If you want to try to lose the killer, good looping perks would be lithe + quick and quiet + iron will. Dead Hard is a good perk to make the looping last longer, but you will not lose the killer with it.

Against nurse you have to avoid short loops. Dodge her and try to lose the line of sight. Crouch and run behind walls. you can hear when she is about to teleport (sound like inhaling or something), usually at that point stop running straight and make these random turns and 360°s to confuse her.

Billy is clumsy with his chainsaw so just do sharp turns when he is using it. If you know you can't make it to the vault because billy is after you with his chainsaw, run towards the window/pallet and turn 90° right in front of it.

Against spirit you are pretty much doomed without Iron will. When she is phasing, WALK away somewhere random. If you are injured and she is phasing, she will probs follow your blood so try to walk in grass or sum. Also, I'd say don't walk under a pallet or window, but stay around some looping place just in case.

Short version: don't get stuck on short loops, make distance and lose the line of sight

  • Least favourite: Freddy and clown. Both look and sound disgusting (Not that they are badly designed). Also Freddy's lunge always makes me a bit salty and I for real always go down within a second if it's a clown. I just can't see where I'm going

Favourite: Spirit (If I'm running Iron will), Demo and Nurse. Spirit and nurse can destroy you, but I have had my longest "loops"/mindgames with them. Seems like not many people know how to play against them. Demo is a coolio

  • And Zubat is playing as the killer, which has gun btw!

  • Go watch Tru3talent's stream, he's playing as the new survivor

  • I'm using it for now since I find it kinda funny and interesting. I think it confuses many, especially new survivors, since it's rarely used. Also it's kinda good slow down perk if you are able to get your first hooks fast.

  • Honestly I think it's just the loud minority being toxic, but I have to admit this is the only game where I have been told by survivors and killers to kill myself irl. And this has happened multiple times.

I lose to DS in the EGC fairly often. Maybe 10% of the matches. It literally has no counter once the doors are open.

No no I get that, my point was that at that point you probably didn't lose the whole game because of that DS. Before that survivors had to complete all the gens and so on. But I get it that it's frustrating to lose a kill, maybe the only kill of the match at that point because of a perk.

I love how it's just "Oh eat the 5 second stun" like you have time to spare as killer. It's not just a 5 second stun, it's a stun, then another minute to chase them back down. Then do the same for the other 3 survivors.

Well that's the counter to it. Either eat the stun or slug. Same with the noed, destroy the totems or die. And like I have said before, how often do you lose the whole game only because all survivors used ds at the right time/how often do you lose your whole team to noed. Not very often. Both of these perks makes the game "not so simpe" and you have to play around them.

  • You can just eat the DS if you have to, it's pretty much same as getting hit with a pallet. Also if a survivor gets caught within 60 seconds of being unhooked, they maybe aren't as good of a looper so I'm sure you will catch them soon again (Unless they just happened to be on a dead zone).

  • Tbh, how often do all 4 survivors escape only bacause they all used DH, DS or BT at the right time? Not very often. How often does all 4 survivors go down only because of noed, not very often. Last time when my whole team went down because of noed, even when the killer only got 2 hooks before endgame I was actually surprised. I laughed when the Ghostface teabagged at us. All these perks have counter imo, and I like how they make the game "not so simple". You have to play around them. No nerfs needed

  • I'm at rank 7 and just played my first game with other purples today. Otherwise I have only had games with brown/green ranks (only today tho). Maybe it's because of the sales or something
