You kept Wesker occupied for your team for four gens. That's pretty laudable.

People have to realize that this is a team game. You've got two objectives, collectively. Do gens, occupy the killer. Just because you personally do those things does not mean you in particular get out. You're playing with and for your team. Anytime you can buy them time you're winning.

I also think BP bonuses should reflect this.

I think the point was… I didn’t want to be chased for 4 gens lol

And I certainly didn’t want to be tunnelled out from the get-go.

Honestly seems a bit pointless, considering the search bar is coming up it shouldn't take more than 30 seconds to just switch between builds, could literally be done whilst you are getting into a game.

    If you are PC, maybe.

  • I wish they would have clone presets, whereby I don’t have to keep setting the same preset for multiple characters. Sometimes I want just play with someone different. This would of course need to filter level and availability of perk. Maybe 4 variable and 2 clone presets.

The problem with search bar and selecting perks etc., is more pronounced with console users over PC.

    • Tunneling can be a legitimate strategy, especially if the killer is facing a very good survivor.
    • However, tunneling can also be seen as a form of bullying, especially if the killer is targeting a new or unskilled survivor.
    • It is important to find a balance between rewarding killers for playing aggressively and preventing them from being overly oppressive.
    • Ultimately, the best way to deal with tunneling is to play as a team and communicate with your teammates. If you see a survivor being tunneled, try to distract the killer or bodyblock them so that they can escape.

Not sure how you reasonably interact in SoloQ.

The best way is to just make it an unsuitable play style.

  • I really don’t see why they nerf everything (except pain res, that was wild!). It skews the overall feel for everyone.

Tunnelling could be easily resolved; don’t make it so obvious to track an injured survivor off hook, delay the blood or disappear faster (off hook only). Or auto hide scratch and blood for 5 seconds to gain distance.

Even better, just deduct a value of point if entering chase again within X seconds of coming off hook. I would make it 10% of current cumulative points plus an extra 2% per second until chase lost or straight-up 50% of all points if a successful second hook from tunnelling.

To distinguish ‘tunnelling’, they would be a timed gap of say; 30-45 seconds for it to activate from previous hook?

The only way you will stop is reducing points. The counter is, add some power back to some of these perks. I’d def get CoB to say 150%. Pain Res limit to 4 tokens to 6 etc.

As survivor main, I don’t see any issue with gen regression, it gives more game time and levels up a bit between killer and survivor.

They need to add more to do in the game though, gens are boring as hell. Why not find keys to open chest to unlock gates or something like that. There’s so many things they could do to add a bit more enjoyment.

  • @mikewelk said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3445266#Comment_3445266

So I should just play fairly eventhough I am getting gen rushed and have my entire flow disrupted by a hook sabotage..? What would that give me apart from a dance battle by four survivors at the gate and like six hook states that ultimately don't matter? Let's not even mention endgame chat...

Yes. You should try and play fairly.

Avoid silly end game chat, also realise the type of people who do this inappropriately, they are very insignificant. Block, move on.

I would say though, BHVR do not seem to take their responsibility in controlling this type of commentary well. They really should, it causes people a lot of stress. Passing the buck to platforms really is quite unacceptable.

  • The one that gets me… you are through a top floor window, nearly half way down and still hit… and that happens on multiple maps. Very frustrating lol.

  • Tunnelling isn’t the answer. Just chalk it up to; some you win, some you lose.

surely it’s interesting to see this play style? I doubt it will catch on widely. If it does, I’m sure you will find creative ways to counter.

  • Don’t break pallets if the survivor has a flashlight. Look up or down when the burn begins. Check around on pickup or face wall etc., you should get around a lot of the flash lighting.

Or, just tunnel the flash lighters out of the game if it’s that prolific (although I wouldn’t make this my go-to).

lightborn will always be your friend 😎

  • I guess the thing is, ‘why’ do people disconnect in the first place? I would suggest in most cases, it will be that same old case of slugging, camp and/or tunnel. Admittedly, this isn’t alway the case, but I’d say most.

I 100% try not to play like that, and I’m not bothered if some/all survivors escape (just a game), but I very rarely get a disconnect playing this way. I think the Doctor produces more disconnects than others (just because it’s so annoying to play against?).

As a survivor, if it’s an obvious tunnel session against me, a rage quit is a perfectly exhilarating option and the ban, whatever the length is; worth it.

Obviously l appreciate the strain it puts on other survivors. Maybe share the gained points from the disconnector to the remaining survivors?

  • @Saiph said:

Not arguing whether the mechanic is unfair but out of curiosity why is it so important for you to pip as survivor? Legit question... I'm asking because I usually reach Iri grade without even paying attention to pips, despite losing most of my games. And then my account overflows with BPs anyway. Are you trying to reach P100 or something? I would probably be tilted just as you after a game like this but that would be because of the game itself not because of de-pips.

There’s nothing really to aim for in the game, this is a simple target, irrespective of no status and relatively small reward.

what it really shows, is the lack of something in the game to be rewarded by.

One day after. To respond to my replies. Why you gotta be a troll?

  • Dead Hard could have just had 4 tokens, happy days, job done.

Would slow the tunnelling and give sense of achievement, probably wouldn’t make a difference overall.

The additional option could be limiting per lobby… 4 players only 2 can use DH perhaps, to directly counter the SWF.

All I can say is, it doesn’t feel acceptable now, and I’m already over wasting time in the games (currently).

I was speaking generally, not to you specifically. All I mean is that even casual players should, occasionally, have to re-evaluate what they bring into the game.

Like I said, those options for self-healing are still there. I've been playing solo survivor tonight, and I've not been doing any worse than usual- which admittedly, isn't great, I'm much more of a killer player. Just wanna get this Rift progressed.

For the record, I consider myself a casual player, so I'm not holding anyone to loftier standards than I hold myself. I do sometimes have to think about what to bring, that's not something I consider an insulting prospect.

And as I said, it is not only about healing per se.

The play style of killer has already changed, I have never been slugged so much, I have never seen so many hook suicide, nor disconnections.

Last night I was tunnelled for 7 out of 10 games, just because I gave good chase, flashlight save or whatnot.

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again… the ‘feel’ of the game has changed. Being killed most games now isn’t a big issue, but if it’s like that all the time, people will drop off.

This bizarre and cretinous behaviour in the game/forum is ‘odd’ to say the least.

The fact is, if you play killer, don’t tunnel people out the game or slug everyone, which wastes their time.

If you play survivor, don’t pull the full toxic nonsense play thing.

And reading here, saying people should just get better and all that condescending nonsense, some people just aren’t that good at games but do enjoy being involved at time. Suggesting perks and so on can be helpful, but that doesn’t offset play style.

I will close my replies off by saying… this game doesn’t ‘feel’ very playable at the moment, and I and my friends aren’t playing it now. It’s uninstalled, game over.

And for all this constant trolling and nonsense here, well, they should get a handle on that, just like the unpleasantness in the game.

Should be, though it is still vulnerable to haemorrhage. I'd like to see it clear that status effect on unhook, just to make sure it still functions- but even without that, it should be better now than it was prior to this patch.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3404348#Comment_3404348

Is that really different than before, though? I personally don't actually see that much tunnelling and camping (a little slugging, though), but the way people talk about it on here you'd think that happens to them every other match. This surely can't make that any worse, if what they're saying is true; and if it isn't, no reason to trust the reports of it getting worse, either.

While I have sympathy for the plight of casual players, I think even if you approach a game casually, you should be expected to engage your brain a little bit. Just pivot to another healing source, it's not like there aren't any left.

‘Engage your brain’? Do you want to condescend anymore?

Well, let me adjust your brain; just because YOU haven’t seen it (yet), doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen.

I do hope you get plenty of first hand experience soon enough.

Have fun leaving, see you next week again.

Again, boring, gone over this already.

Nah, I won’t be reinstalling… there’s a big wide world of decent games out there 👍🏻👌🏻

  • @jesterkind said:

    It's not impossible to self-heal.

I think that's kind of important to acknowledge, given the wider argument being made here. Medkits still very much heal you, once or twice depending on addons, and you still very much have tools for healing yourself as a solo player. On the lower end there's the Self Care and Botany Knowledge combo (though never SC on its own, that isn't viable), then there's Inner Healing for speedy heals that require a little setup. There's also Resurgence for making your medkits last longer at the expense of only healing after you're unhooked, there's Streetwise and Built To Last for making medkits last longer at the expense of uneven charge distribution, there's Renewal for 'free' heals after unhook at the cost of needing to heal someone else first...

What you can't do is heal yourself super quickly a functionally unlimited number of times, and like, good? That was always a bad thing?

I’m not sure this is all about ‘healing’ per se.

It’s what it has bought with it. Poor play style, unrelenting tunnelling, Slugging is already more pronounced, It feels more unwinable to moderate/casual players.

The fact there is no actual point to this game anyway, makes me wonder why they just didn’t make changes to a point system instead.

I really don’t understand why killers are so snippy.

Oh right, like your whole issue is not about you and your experience.

4 people, so you are full SWF survivor and still have an issue?

Or you mean like other 3 players on this forum that are just exaggerating to give their point some value.

How dare I to be centric about not having an issue.

    tiresome.

no, we don’t usually play as a 4 and 2 don’t have headsets.

what you are neglecting to consider is the PLAYABILITY and enjoyment of others. The manner in which killers now already play, is poor. It removes enjoyment, ergo, pointless to play.

Yes, you may well be one of those weird people that just like to kill people all the time, but as I have mentioned countless times before, playing a game is about enjoyment for all. I don’t care about dying, but I do when I’m tunnelled out or have a reasonable time to play. I’m not here to present my time for you, its usage is for fair and semi-equal play.

Anyway, this is far too boring now, I’m off to get on with real world things 👍🏻

You still can self-heal, it's not that much longer.

You can use inner-healing, or resurgence for more uses of medkit.

Just try to adapt or find alternative. You quit kinda too fast.

Most survivors played without bringing medkits or boons. So they don't care about this change.

If you think everyone is going to quit like you, you are mistaken.

I really don't mind less survivors. My main issue for playing survivor is queue times. So it's good for me, when some survivors leave.

im glad everything is good for you. Like most of what you said, completely ‘you, centric. So good for you, and your games. Let’s hope people that have the same views as ‘you’ don’t end up trashing the game.

you’ll be glad to know, 4 of us deleted the game today, so that’s 4 survivors that help your ‘fewer survivors’ nonsense.

Or you can try to think about possible consequences of your ideas?

You just take concept from completely different game and say I want it here, when there is no way it could work.

I will much rather have devs to focus on something meaningful for the game than waste months on modes that noone will play after two weeks.

Only thing that might be good is implementing steam workshop, so groups can make custom lobby games interesting.

Well, a ######### off mind, is exactly that I guess.

I am merely trying to open narative, but all you seem to be interested in is saying; nothing to see here, nothing you say is valid.

like I say, I’m not saying my ideas are perfect, but the game as-is, is poor and needs a rethink.

It's called insta heal, because it used to be instant. But even now your action is instant so 0 time wasted. You just can't easily use it in chase.

I see brand new parts quite often...

I don't really care about winning. Just don't like whole complaining about tunneling overall.

You can play against it, you get to have a chase. It's nothing like from 5-gen face camping we used to have. That was boring and hard to stop. Tunneling is not.

Why you care about tunneling when you don't breathe "to win"? You got to have chase whole game and can move on next game faster if you fail.

Way better than wasting 30 min on 3-gen situation, but you would complain against that too.

Basically killer is not allowed to have fun, when survivors don't have fun.

If you don't want it connected with moral code, don't call it bad sportsmanship. You can try unfair, or unfun. Bad that doesn't sound so good for your point, right?

Whatever the term, you are being pernicious and symantecs makes no odds to the point. Call it what you want.

If you think tunnelling someone out the game is good, ‘you’ are the problem. It’s not whining.

I completely agree it should be fun for the killer… but hook and move on.

Hopefully they will get the AI sorted so survivors can just play against BOT killer if they choose.

Queue times are already bad, you would make it worse. That's why.

This is not game for multiple mods, it doesn't work with 4v1 concept.

Well, you know what happened to the dinosaurs.

You just keep saying no, it can’t, it’s not this it’s not that… there’s no evidence of that. They can try and give options to people.

In the end this will be defunct anyway, giving way to a better idea.

This game is terrible for new players anyway. There is no way someone will get to start playing DBD alone.

If they do, they are killers. Then those nerfs help them.

Otherwise it will be SWF, which makes it easier for them.

Even playing as survivor over the last couple of months as solo has seen wait times extend significantly.

Yeah, that means not enough killers.

I don’t think that’s true at all. I think most people start alone.

  • @DaddyMyers_Mori said:

This is not type of game where "nothing is op, when everything is op" would work.

And highly doubt it will be changed back. We have more than enough survivors...

Why not make it a game that allows selection before matching. I.e. No perks rounds (for all), No exhaustion/Aura, Timed - see how many gens can be done in time allocated with unlimited hooks to allow slow-down not kill.

Theres so many game styles that could be utilised, mix it up, make it fun. Quintessentially this game is the same concept from 7 years ago… it needs some fresh perspective.

If this game feels ‘too hard’ for new / casual players, that I suggest download the game for free or peanuts, they won’t stick around long. Watch that well dry up.

It's not just CoB and PR.

It's also corrupt, eruption, Overcharge, pop, ruin.

I am happy with both nerfs tho.

I loved strategy hit&run (spreading hits), but CoH killed it.

It's viable again and with regression perk nerfs, it is good idea to play more information or chase perks as a killer.

I really won't complain about nerfing 3-gen situation as a survivor.

It was hard to build a pressure when every survivor could heal alone. It was usually fixed by stacking slowdown perks.

I think game will improve with this overall.

I have never really used self-healing as survivor, so I don't care about healing nerf.

Try using We'll make it, or inner healing for yourself.

The point of these nerfs is to not self-heal.

I’m pretty sure they will undo a lot of this, I won’t be playing until they do.

If was in charge, I’d make everything ‘strong’ on both sides, to give more gameplay, not smack it all out so everything is tedious and boring, and presses gameplay style.

Using insta heal and brand new parts, 4x toolbox / medkit and map offering is also considered bad sportsmanship and shows a lack of skill in your opinion?

Unless it's 3 hook only kill tunneling, it's fine. But even that just means survivors didn't try to protect each other. You can just take hits against most killers.

Simply put there is no reason to not do it. It's currently best way to win as a killer. Nothing to do with sportsmanship and your personal moral code.

I’m not sure what you are talking about ‘moral code’ or your initial hypothetical.

I rarely see 4x toolboxes and ‘instaheal’? That still takes 17 seconds to activate, I really have no idea what you are talking about…

Anyway, to answer… this has nothing to do with a moral code, it’s to do with parlaying a game, having fun and enjoying the experience.

I am assuming you may be someone who lives and breathes this ‘to win’. I personally don’t care if I win, I just want to have a chance to ‘play’. I’m not the best nor worse player, I use whatever’s available and I change loadout regularly to make it entertaining.

If people play unfairly, then I just stop them getting more points and exit the game, I’m not spending ‘time’ wasted in games like that.

I say again, I play for ‘fun’, sorry… used to play for fun, I’m just moving on to a better game now… this odd, pointless game causes a lot of friction between people.

Because it is entirely different from tunneling which is literally playing the game, lol.

It's literally just disconnecting but without penalty, we should just fix this bug, no ban, everyone's happy.

Tunnelling isn’t ‘playing the game’, it’s bad sportsmanship and shows a lack of skill in my opinion.

people ‘play’ the game to ‘play’, not to spend time doing loadout, lobby and so-on, to then be kicked out the game in a few minutes, get few points and de-pip, just because a killer can’t deal with four players, or someone that adds challenge to the round.

  • A lot of the flashlight issue seems to be SWF. Why not just put in a rule that disallows more than one player to have a flashlight in a lobby? Remove the ability to rummage for one for the others.

Removing everything doesn’t create balance it makes the game boring.

As killer, flashlights didn’t bother me, SWF is easy to spot, just go lightborn, if an issue.

Removing all the other fun aspects such as burning off hag traps is just silly. Just give hav a setting speed-up.

    Really interesting thread!!

  • Just leave them there to bleed out? It’s just a distraction technique. All the time they are up there, they aren’t doing gens.

You say that, but healing keeps the game alive. I realise that is frustrating when you play killer… but at least you get to ‘play’ for a while.

Camping and Tunneling are happening more, because killer regression perks got nuked. I'm sorry if you aren't enjoying the game more, but killers are trying to play as well. At some point you have to realize that asking for everything killers have access to, to be nerfed is only going to cause you to face the least fun tactics, because killers have no other options.

I play 50/50 … Yesterday I found this game playable as both, today I don’t.

If I just wanted to ‘win’ most of the time now, I would just kill.

And the only nerfs are COB and PR, and let’s face it, 4 goes of PR will do.

You didn't use exactly good example. It just means you are tilted because of your team and decide it's not worth your time. Yeah, so there is no reason to have DC penalty at all with your logic. You are basically one of reasons why there is a DC penalty.

Better example would be last two survivors alive, one on hook kill himself so other have chance for hatch. That's valid.

The fact you even said there was a good example for killing yourself on hook, would suggests it should stay.

They don’t ban tunnelling, so why should they ban this?

Distortion is a perk that blocks auras. At this point, you guys are just asking for everything that killers have to be nerfed because it's not fun to lose a game.

I would read my post again. I am aware of Aura cancelling perks, but some people play casually and won’t ever have a full perk rack.

More notably, I didn’t say nerf anything, I couldn’t care less if COB or PR stayed as-was. My issue is the complete slam in healing. Camping and Tunnelling has already returned to nearly every game I have played this evening.

The point is, if it becomes a chore to play, people (including me), won’t.

The killer isn't tunneling you, because they found you 5 seconds into the game. Do you want the killer to wait 30 seconds or something arbitrary?

Why don’t you take the point instead of being snippy?

It’s very clear the player is saying either Aura is unbalanced or the skill level isn’t matched.

Not every player of this game lives and breathes it. Some play casually for fun, but it does have to be that; fun.

Feel free to dismount your high horse.

I agree. Past few weeks have been awful with overpowered killers, tunnelling out survivors. Becoming less likely that I’ll be putting anymore time or money into this game if this carries on, nothing to do with how survivors play, it’s the fact they’ve given killers better perks than what the survivors get. Should be managed by player level or monthly scores to make it a little more even and giving us a chance to actually play a single game

I’ve just played a couple of hours and I already won’t bother playing again until I feel like I have some time to waste.

Whats the point just healing half the game, and the third reduction in medkit is ridiculous.

Same here though, no time, no money… no problem 👌🏻

  • now 8 games in, slugged in every match so-far.

If people think that’s fun, it’s not.

Plus, sure SWF is annoying, but you’ll just get a lot more running from gens, sprint burst, head on, off the record and so-on. This may not work out in a ‘fun’ playable way for killers anyway.

  • 5 games, 5 sluggings so-far. Dead hard nerfed to hell, healing atrocious. This game won’t be long for me or my friends.

    just as a counter…

  • You still lose pips if you have to dc, which is very unfair.

Really? Interesting I always find its the PC killers that camp and slug for bleedouts, and never have that issue with console killers. Have you considered they may be crossplay on PC and not on console.

    Same.

I am console and never camp or tunnel. What’s the point?!

I don’t actually care if everyone escapes, I just want to enjoy the game.

I would really love it if more people would play for fun over the (mostly) toxic masculinity you see in the game.
