Road life/stakeout shouldn’t make it to release

Both perks have it’s own problems and encourage unhealthy/not interactive gameplay.

Stake out was a problem because it made other skillcheck perks too strong and now it gives the same progress as if you were using it with bardic/hyperfocus before the ptb. 4% is too big of a number for just 1 perk slot and the downside it has (-4% for missing) is non existent since missing ds skillcheck is impossible, unless you playing against doctor.

Road life basically became the best self heal perk in the game and completely outclassed the other ones like pharmacy or strength in shadows. Hitting 4 greats is very easy even without toolboxes and the fact that it can be recharged and heals you 100% faster for absolutely no reason is insane. What’s even the point of medkits right now if you can just use toolbox, hit 4 greats in like 20 seconds with it and heal in 8 seconds? This perk solely makes all control/hit and run killers unplayable since you no longer need any other healing tool to get unlimited free resets that are 100% faster for the entire game and it only takes 1 perk slot. Its even stronger than old boon because you don’t need to spend time looking for totems and you can heal anywhere for doing already the best thing you can do while playing survivor.

There are other perks that looks problematic in this ptb (Alan’s boon for example), but we probably should wait till the update to see how it’s gonna be, but this 2 perks will break the game like old healing boon and fast did and should definitely be reworked or at least heavily adjusted: 2% instead of 4% for stake out and 1 heal per hook state for road life imo, but in any case if both this perks make it to life, half of the killer roster gonna be unplayable (basically every killer that doesn’t have strong chase because applying pressure gonna be impossible if you don’t end chases very quickly).

  • I don't see it. Stake Out's 4% progress sounds big, and it kind of is, but it's balanced by the fact that you have to be within 24 meters range of the killer for 15 seconds to get one token.

Road Life will be good, but I doubt it will be op. Repairing gens injured is a risk, so having that pay out after hitting 4 great skill checks is fair in my opinion. 8 seconds is fast, but I don't think it will be problematic because of the activation condition. I want to see more perk variety, so I don't think nerfing these perks, at least from ptb to live, would be a wise decision.

  • Right now Road Life can't be properly tested because of the bug with too frequent skill checks since 10.1.0.

Stake Out update is terrible, too difficult to activate and the extra progress is not worth wasting a perk slot for the very possible missed skill check and -14% progress. Stake Out was basically only used to help with Hyperfocus because of the faster spinning skill checks. Not everyone is good at hitting skill checks, let alone greats. Issues with latency, hardware (FPS, refresh rate, controller latency) etc all contribute to being able to hit the great or not. A common way to identify possible cheaters is when they run Hyperfocus without Stake Out, because the average player can't get value out of Hyperfocus without the help of Stake Out.

It would be much better if it kept its original design but if they must nerf it, make it increase the great zone to about 5-6% when the player has a token. Then it's not completely free. It's another example of a licensed perk being completely changed (like Vigil). I mean Tenacity is not a bad perk but I bet the vast majority got Detective Tapp for Stake Out.

I thought it was fixed in PTB? The skill checks weren't that frequent like on live servers there

No it's still there, that's why people think Road Life is OP. Actually the back-to-back skill checks have been present since the previous PTB, I reported them on August 7th: https://app.betahub.io/projects/pr-5642738318/issues/6042

Yeah the cheater thing was, what I thought of aswell. Now just using Stake Out will make people think you cheat.
