Is it still true that if you Abandon or Disconnect, MMR does not change?

So awhile back a moderator said that if anyone in a match disconnects (and abandon counts as a DC for this purpose) then the entire match is thrown out for MMR for everyone involved. I don't know how true this was, but I assume because a moderator said it, it was true.

So, with the new MMR, I am wondering again now if this is still true or not?

  • I want to know this too, since if that's the case, the reset was pointless.

  • Im assuming abandons don't count, some clarification would be great though

  • I have a screenshot somewhere where Peanits said that voided gains/losses are for the person, not the game. Everyone else will still gain or lose or stay the same based on their outcome because MMR gains/losses is determined on a 1v1 basis. I think for officially released kill/escape rates they leave out matches with those voids. I don't imagine this will change but could be wrong.

  • It makes no sense that abandoning doesn't affect MMR. The last survivor just abandons the second they take a hit, which completely underestimates the actual kill rate.

yeah I was gonna say that was quite some time ago. I have a feeling things have shifted but of course I will never know the answer to that unless they say so lol

Mandy recently said the system still functions as 1v1v1v1v1, so I'd say it hasn't changed but can't confidently say

Ahh - okay. I gotcha. I didn't realize that. Makes sense.

Yes, but that was before the abandon feature. Even then, with how everyone just abandons as soon as they are able to these days… If Abandon is the same as DC as that one moderator said, then most survivors will NEVER change their MMR up or down.

I'd wager most people's games don't end in an abandon 100% of the time. So i doubt anyone is sitting on the exact same MMR forever. For the sake of discussion, let's say some folks do abandon every single game and stay in the same spot. So what? It's a personal number used within a pretty large bracket.

I mean, maybe… but I'd still like to know how it works. Plus, with the number of times I have players DC the second the game doesn't go their way, I suspect they are doing it way more often. Also, I know many a streamer nowadays that NEVER watches the Mori, they hit Abandon.

the issue is they will continue to be matched with people who want to actually play the game. people who abandon frequently frankly should be put in a loser mmr bracket and they can all dc against each other.

Abandon is not a DC. The abandon option appears when all remaining survivors have been slugged or if you have been slugged multiple times without being hooked or on the killer end when no generators have been completed for ten minutes. In an ideal world abandon would not be a thing but that would require BHVR to actually address these with proper game design.

ah my bad, i thought people were referencing the people abandoning their team.
