Wesker needs to be stabilized before his problems get even worse
I think it's time to seriously address the current state of Wesker.
I don't want BHVR to completely rework his mechanics or radically change how he is played. Quite the opposite — I think the fewer fundamental changes made to him, the better.
Wesker has accumulated too many problems with his movement, collision, interactions with map geometry and various Bound mechanics. The longer these issues remain unresolved, the harder it will become to fix them properly without breaking something else in the process.
That's why, in my opinion, the ideal solution would be to bring Wesker back to a stable state from before 9.5.0 — roughly the 9.4.0 state, where his mechanics were much more predictable — and then carefully fix individual issues from there.
Don't reinvent Wesker.
Just give him a stable foundation again and fix it properly.
I'd also like to talk about Side-Step and Wesker tech in general.
There are people who have spent hundreds or even thousands of hours learning how to consistently perform different hug techs, rebounds, reverses and other difficult interactions.
Some of these mechanics require an incredible amount of practice. Even experienced players can sometimes need dozens of attempts in a single match just to get the result they want in a real situation.
And honestly, I don't understand why that should automatically be considered a bad thing.
Isn't it actually cool that part of the community has become so dedicated to one killer that they've managed to explore the interaction between his power, map objects, angles and geometry to such an extreme level?
That's skill expression.
That's what makes people spend hours practicing, improving themselves and continuing to play the game.
Yes, some of these interactions can look strange.
Yes, some of them can be bugs.
And if a specific bug genuinely breaks the game, then obviously it should be fixed.
But not every unusual interaction is automatically a problem that needs to be removed.
Especially when it comes to Wesker's tech.
I'd also like to address survivors who constantly complain about hug techs.
Hug tech does not give Wesker a free hit.
In practice, these techs are often about style, unpredictability and catching someone off guard.
If you show a survivor a particular hug tech once, they now know you can do it.
So what happens the next time?
They simply move away from the tile.
Or they pre-drop the pallet.
Or they start playing the loop in a way that doesn't give Wesker the angle he needs.
And that's it.
Your fancy hug tech isn't doing much anymore.
That's why the idea that these techniques give Wesker some massive, free advantage doesn't really reflect how they work in actual matches.
Good survivors adapt.
Unpredictability is a huge part of the value of these techniques.
Once the survivor knows you're going for them, their effectiveness drops significantly.
That's exactly why I think Side-Step should be brought back, or at least seriously reconsidered, instead of simply being left behind.
Wesker doesn't need to become stronger.
He doesn't need new abilities.
His entire power doesn't need to be redesigned.
He needs consistency.
Give players back the stable foundation they've already spent hundreds of hours mastering.
Then fix the actual problems one by one.
Because right now, the problems keep piling up.
The longer these mechanical issues remain unresolved, the higher the chance that eventually Wesker will become broken enough to require a killswitch, followed by weeks or months of waiting for everything to be fixed again.
Why let it get to that point?
Players are already tired of spending huge amounts of time testing, recording clips, creating bug reports and explaining the same problems, only to feel like they're being ignored.
The Wesker community has already done an enormous amount of work studying his mechanics.
BHVR doesn't have to figure this out alone.
Listen to the people who have actually spent hundreds and thousands of hours playing this killer.
Don't destroy Wesker's depth just to fix individual problems.
Bring back the stable pre-9.5.0 version.
Preserve his skill ceiling.
Bring back Side-Step or find a proper solution for it.
Then fix the actual bugs carefully and one by one.
Wesker doesn't need a new identity.
He needs his stable foundation back.
One more thing that I think deserves to be mentioned:
SaltNest, one of the people who has spent a huge amount of time researching and documenting Wesker's mechanics, was recently banned from the BHVR forums after making numerous posts about Wesker and his unresolved issues.
I understand that excessive posting can be considered spam and that forums need moderation. However, it's extremely frustrating to see one of the people who has put so much effort into documenting these problems being silenced instead of seeing the underlying issues actually addressed.
People are not posting about Wesker because they have nothing better to do. They're posting because the problems keep accumulating and they feel like nobody is listening.
I hope BHVR can look beyond the amount of posts being made and actually look at why the community feels the need to make them in the first place.

Saltnest is still on Wesker even after all of this? I really hope they end up reverting him, or even just making him feel smooth again.
This post was difficult to read. Why is it so spaced out? I agree though. Wesker probably does feel off from what I have been told by people who main him. He gets a lot of bugs too. Hopefully they can clear it out.
I unfortunately stopped my p100 grind on him cause he has started to feel genuinely terrible to feel as of the past 6 months, luckily we got Judgment though.
That's unfortunate to hear honestly.
Yeah I've heard the same from many other players, I probably would've just finished getting him to 50 and started my judgment grind anyways
I sign this, 100%. Wesker is my main and he keeps getting worse and shadownerfs hit him like every patch now since 9.5 - just revert him atp! We want our killer back, not a fancy redesign!
