The First power needs a nerf…
I’ve seen a lot more people playing The First recently, and playing him really successfully too. However, I think this is because he gets his power back really easily, the duration in which it lasts is too long, and there is no cooldown between his power ending, hitting someone again and restarting it. The amount of people playing him is making it miserable, can’t do any objective because you’re constantly on the clocks resetting his power, only for him to get it again 30 seconds later.

playing against any killer over and over again can be miserable. The First is just fine and doesnt need to be nerfed just because you dont like you have played against him more often recently.
I main the first and survivors I play against deal with him perfectly fine, his counterplay is being unpredictable and that's what you should learn, I have seen good players and bad players and the difference is massive, you just need to learn the counterplay.
I disagree, but like @SpyUA said, this seems to be a knowledge issue.
@zonkednb Gotta love it when clear and helpful advice gets a downvote, almost like no one wants to learn how to play a game and just expect free escapes 😂
Survivors already knowingly play the role that is statistically disadvantaged - if they wanted a "free win" they would play killer.
You're not alone, The First's power is just not enjoyable from the survivor side. The Worldbreaker duration (after the clock is done) was nerfed a while back from 60 to 50 seconds which is at least something.
However like someone else said, only one person needs to do a clock. Running towards the killer when they are aiming can make it difficult for them - the same goes for shining a flashlight towards them and/or blinding. Things like Boon: Shadow Step can also help the whole team as there are a few aura add-ons.
Unfortunately the best thing you can do against killers like this is do generators as fast as possible, and hope for a better game next time.
It's never a free win for killer side.
Or the actual best thing you can do is learn the counter play to the killer and every single one of them has it.
Maybe actually it's not enjoyable because survivors don't learn the counter, it's actually quite fun to try to be unpredictable and actually be good at this and also predict where the killer will put the vines, the skill gap I have seen as Henry creel main between survivors is big and I can name a lot of killers which you should agree are much less fun to go against as survivors with a boring counter play.
This is helpful to others, however not a knowledge issue for me. I know how to play against him, i’ve played against him many times and actually won chase or had him chase me the entire match. However, what i’m saying is he’s able to snowball his power a little too easily. You’re aren’t going to get 4 survivors every match who can run this killer like the way you’re saying, you’re lucky if you get 1. So even if I can run him for a while, doesn’t make a difference if he decided to chase others and then snowball the power from there. I don’t want an easy win, I like a good chase I only run chase builds. But in my opinion, being able to go back into the power after one hit as it’s ended is too easy
Haven’t got an issue with frequency, I have an issue with the lack of cooldown between his power.
Keep juking while they spam M2, sooner or later you will get hit. I know the counterplay, I just don't enjoy it. And the SFX is also very grating.
Thank you this is exactly what i mean. The counter play is whatever, hold W, lose LoS, fair enough there’s a lot of killers that have this counterplay. But what I don’t like is his power ends, one hit and then it’s back up again for the full duration. Sometimes this is literally seconds.
From what the others have suggested, it’s not about my personal preference of the killer. There’s many killers I don’t like to go up against. But i’m not calling for a nerf for them, they’re fine, i just don’t enjoy them. However The First is not enjoyable when it’s spam and constant power activation
You are supposed to get hit eventually, some others killers can spam their M2 as well like pyramid head.
Of course, I don't expect not to get hit. Dodging Pyramid Head's power is at least possible due to the sound cues, fixed path, short(ish) range and width - and it uses charges to punish spamming. The vine attack is just often a 50/50 at best.
Yeah a cooldown on Worldbreaker activation or a cooldown on the survivor you use to activate it, would improve the experience. It's a common tactic to keep one weak survivor alive and use them to repeatedly activate Worldbreaker.
He deserves some buffs actually got nerfed because people cant press A and D.
I don't think you want an easy win. I'm not going to levy that kind of accusation because I know how it feels to have a streak of frustrating losses against one particular killer. I'm just offering what I know helps me.
While yes, other survivors might not be up to speed on how to deal with Henry, if you or anyone else that reads this is able to apply the basics consistently, then the games will get less troublesome. Having inexperienced teammates is a problem against every killer. Henry can farm worldbreaker off a bad teammate, like Myers can farm stalk, Oni can farm blood, Plague can farm infections, Legion can farm KI, Nemesis can farm tiers, etc etc. The downside of any team game is that solo queue is always going to be a crapshoot to some degree.
Henry is absolutely supposed to get multiple uses of worldbreaker per game. without it he's completely impotent. Shortening it is such a non-issue that he effectively has no real passive slowdown, so enough gen commitment when not in chase makes him harder to win with than it looks.
Not finding him fun is a separate issue and I fully sympathise with people that don't find him fun. The solution to that isn't a linear nerf in my mind.
I understand the frustration, I thought the same thing when I came back to this game after a year, but honestly Henry is “balanced” in current DBD. The best thing you can do is keep distance, which works great on large maps like swamp maps and makes him feel honestly pretty weak, but that doesn’t work well on tiny maps where honestly sometimes I’d argue he feels S tier. If maps were more consistently designed he’d be easier to balance, but that’s just not possible.
On the matter of enjoyability, the counterplay of being unpredictable and losing LoS is very possible, but it’s extremely similar to Nurse where sometimes hits are just unavoidable (especially when the killer player is good) or it’s just a lot of 50/50s. The thing is, I actually kind of enjoy chases with Nurses because outplaying a blink is much more rewarding than outplaying a vine attack, as Henry can spam it every couple seconds
I understand what you’re saying, and yes it might be helpful to others. But I don’t agree that it’s anything similar to the killers you mentioned. Yes they can all farm, but the first is able to trigger his power instantly after it’s ended if he commits to chase. Clock ends, one hit, and boom - back in his power for the full duration. There is no drawback from his power ending and getting a hit again.
I don’t enjoy playing against a nurse, I like outsmarting her with being unpredictable but at least if she misses an M1 she is punished for it for a couple seconds. The first spams his power, but no punishment. However, I understand the getting hits with him aren’t easy and so therefore don’t think that’s the issue. In the way that legion is punished for hitting the same survivor again, I think he should have some downside to doing the same. Whether that’s the duration of the clock being shorter if he triggers it on the same survivor, I don’t know. Nothing drastic. It feels very similar to me how Legion felt in 2v8 - mending simulator. Except it seems I’m working part-time in a horologists store. Just my opinion.
For sure. I do feel Henry is punished a little as it does slow him down enough that you do outpace him if he constantly spams. It's about whether you can path well enough to make distance while juking. Certainly not easy, but it's its own little mental exercise.
Even with his ability to farm off the same survivor, overall I'd say he's in good place strength-wise.
I'm largely playing devils advocate. I don't want him straight nerfed because he doesn't deserve it, however if a proposed sidegrade/rework was put up, I'd be curious. Because, to be honest, I like Henry as an occasional treat, but if I face him more than twice in a longer session, I really start hating the random-bullshit-go gameplay loop.
Yeah I get you. The minimal slowdown from spamming doesn’t really count as a punishment when he’s a ranged killer, in my eyes at least.
I haven’t got a problem with his M2, his spam, his traversal, or even how his power works. I like him as a concept. However, like I’ve already mentioned my only gripe is there being no cooldown for his world breaker when it’s re-triggered on the same survivor. I know as a survivor you’re going to get hit, that’s the point. But I still feel like there should be some reward for managing to dodge his m2 (in it’s world breaker form) for the duration of world breaker. I don’t think a slight reduction in the time it takes to reset the clock again would be game-changing. The killers still likely to get the down.
It just prevents the monotonous “one survivor resets the clock, oh look it’s triggered again not even 10 seconds later, back to do it again”. At least if it was reset again it would be like 3-4 seconds less time or something. He still gets his power, he still has the ability to injure with the m2, but also more incentive to make better predictions (for both killer and survivor trying to outlast the timer) and prevent the spamming.
Just my thoughts on him.
