10 Years Later: Still Stuck at 120 FPS and Can't Raise Mouse Sensitivity

So… Dead by Daylight turned 10 years, 1 month and 21 days old. And somehow, in 2026, we still have a hard 120 FPS limit. Amazing progress. Mouse sensitivity is also capped for some reason — want it higher? Too bad, you can’t. Are the developers ever planning to remove these outdated restrictions, or should we just mark our calendars for 2036? Would love a real reply from someone on the team. Truly impressive that after 10 years the game still can’t keep up with the times.

  • DbD has always been in the dinosaur age compared to other games when it comes to graphics settings and other options. But player count is at all-time high and BHVR have no incentive to spend resources on improving the settings options as long as they’re not losing players.

not someone from the team, but i will say that it’s probably at least slightly guaranteed that the graphics options will be overhauled in 2027. since 2027 is the set year for dbd’s graphic & code overhaul, there’s definitely a high chance we’ll be able to get more FPS options and other stuff.

also a pretty big chance they’ll pull a classic dbd move and just flat out ignore the settings as a whole

  • is there a reason you need more than 120 fps?

I really hope that what you're saying will happen, we need to turn this game around

unless you've stayed in the Stone Age, you should know why

I really wish they would clarify on which things the overhaul will include. Like I seriously hope the net code will be redone because it's absolutely horrendous. And having the option to change different graphic settings individually (like shadows, textures, etc) would be so nice. A modern version of FSR and DLSS would be so easy to implement as well, right now the FSR we have seems to do nothing at all. I hope they give us some insight into what will and won't be changed. I would rather wait longer for them to rebuild the entire game from ground up if it means we won't have 100 new bugs every patch and interactions will actually look accurate to how they're supposed to be

  • 150 fps does not produce a better experience than 120 fps.

I imagine our precious Switch cousins look on anything above 30 frames as criminal 🤣

You clearly have no idea what you’re talking about. The jump from 120 to 150 FPS is noticeable, but I’m referring to 240, 360, etc. If you’re used to gaming at pathetic frame rates, that’s your problem I’m not going to deal with the same limitations.

Jeez, go back to Call of Duty or whatever.

We made do with 30 FPS.

    You’ll live.

  • You probably play at 60 FPS your whole life and think that’s normal… poor guy, you’ve been missing half a century of progress.

  • They need to remove the fps limit. It's 2026 not the 90s.

I agree, but just to let you know you still do engine tweak to get 240FPS BUT you need to make sure you can have a constant 240FPS otherwise the game slows down for only you.

I would kill for DLAA or DLSS or any other damn type of AA.

120 is pathetic? this is one of the funniest things ill see all week

  • I mean I really don't get why there is a limit in the first place. It kinda sucks to not be able to utilize your GPU fully in this game.

Yes, I’ve already tried and it gives me this problem you mentioned, that’s why I say the developers should add it.

  • FPS is tied to certain game mechanics in the code for some reason. Examples being things such as Weskers dash and Balanced Landing, this is my guess as to why its capped otherwise it could add extra bugs.

A half century of progress? What was the frame rate people got to play with on an Atari 2600 in 1977? 120 FPS is much newer than that, if you had done your homework.

I've been playing DbD at 120 FPS since before it was an option and I had to edit settings.ini and set it to read-only. I think that was possible back in 2019 or 2020. 60FPS or less really sucks for DbD. 120 FPS is perfectly fine for DbD since whatever slight advantage you would get from a higher frame rate is lost in the latency.

The sad reality is DbD owns its own gaming genre with no competition and they don't even know what Quality of Life is. They proved that last year.

DbD is nothing like even the lowliest multi-player FPS which is a saturated genre with heavy competition. If an FPS doesn't have all the QoL players have come to expect, they get left in the dust, whereas DbD practically has a captive player base.

Hence why things tied to FPS should be patched out. I get in coding things attached to FPS is how it begins and you need to actively code it out but anytime something is attached to it, it's overall worse.

  • I wish limit was increased atleast to 240fps.

  • Console still has awful input delay too on both XBOX/PS5

Also you cant even lower your sensitivity to a point for people who like a slower camera on higher dpi like FPS games
