Why was this change made in Betahub?

Just noticed that you can't anymore see anyone elses pictures or videos in the report they made on the betahub. The main reason why this is not a good idea as it limits anyone who would want to report a bug from even seeing if the bug is the same one as people descriptions some times are really not the best and picture/video is the best way to tell what is going on. Like there is no reason to prevent users from seeing the pictures or the videos as it will mostly hinder the reporting of bugs and will cause more dublicate reports for nothing. Hopefully this was accidental and gets reverted.

Still it would also be useful if users could see if there is logs attached to the report as now because that is not visible you can't tell if there is need for one until its marked "Needs More Info" by mod/dev. This is good one because console reporters can't add logs so a computer player can provide them if they run into the same bug or can reproduce it. Like hiding this stuff is just hindering reporting not helping it. It also makes it harder for anyone to try to replicate the bug to get clear log files or steps to reproduce it so its easier to fix.

Oh yup just had a look that def not a good change.

  • Could just be a mistake or BetaHub changed some settings automatically.

  • Just bringing this back up so @Mandy or some other mod/dev would notice and investigate as would be nice to get this sorted as its a hinderance on effective bug reporting. Now that weekend is over and work week is starting over in Canada.

^I've been following this particular report for nearly 7 months waiting on resolution and personally knew there were close to 10 videos on this, 3 of which were my own. Now there's not even one, and the severity was moved down to medium when it was once higher than that because it happens nearly every game unless you are aware of the bug and specifically play in a way to avoid it happening which I shouldn't have to do.

Anyway, I hope this was not an intentional change as OP is right, this will do nothing but further flood BHVR with reports that are duplicates. If 7 months of one easily replicable bug going unresolved isn't enough to show they are in fact, already swamped with reports as is, idk what is.

  • Did not even notice that you can't even see the reporters nickname anymore either. Every report that is not yours is made by Anonymous. Don't really see any point of not showing who the reporter is either.

  • This is switched off temporarily, we still see everything that users have uploaded, but that's limited to us right now to ensure privacy for users of the platform.

It has no effect on the temperature or the severity of a bug report.

Well its just going to make it harder time to anyone to tell if a bug is the same. The videos and pictures in most cases are the only way to see if the bug is the same or not. Like the descriptions of most reports are not that detailed to even know what they are talking about without seeing the video they might have posted. It would be way more beneficial to let people see the videos and pictures and in the end I have not seen any video that would have had information that you could use against the poster. Sometimes someone might post a picture of their player id but in the end some of them even write them to the description.

Well hopefully this is temporary as it will only increase dublicate reports and waste time but what can you do about it. I would also appreciate if the log file being in the report could at least shown to be there for other people so people know there is one.

  • Any news on making the media visible again? It makes it very difficult to use the system.

  • Either someone uploaded a recordeding of their Cloud-ID or someone is uploading videos not related to DBD.

There has been several who has posted images of their cloud-id there and several who even wrote it in the description. You can't really prevent people from doing that kind of thing. Still it should not hurt the bug reporting because some people are not thinking before doing something. I have not seen anything that would have not been about bugs in the reports and I check it quite often. Only things might be people ranting about a feature or trying to use it for tech support issue.

Its just not good to not let users see the videos and images when it would only be beneficial of seeing if its the same bug you experienced or if you can find reasons why it might have happened or try to reproduce it so it can be fixed faster. Like to me this is just not helpful and just hindering the progress, but what can I do until someone in Behavior realizes that this was pointless and totally unneeded.

Unfortunately, that's how it works in most societies.

Reality is, companies don't do something like this unless something occurred that they can be held liable for. Ever heard the phrase "Someone ruined it for everyone else", it's largely true.

This. I'm having a hard time now knowing whether or not to spend the time uploading a video about a bug or whether or not it's already been reported. Just as an example, there is a bug report out there rn that shows a video upload that I cannot see. The description alone isn't enough for me to understand if this is MY problem too. Lately I am experiencing this weird, idk what to even call it, but my character just stops moving for a split second. The bug report I think sounds similar though is worded as if it's lag spikes and without the video, I truly can't tell whether to submit another report or not.

I get people out there possibly weren't being careful with their own information, but instead of locking it fully down, is there no way to just hide the video until a moderator has deemed it safe? I have several bugs I've wanted to report and just haven't because honestly I don't want to go through all the trouble just to find it slapped together with another as a duplicate when I couldn't tell it was to start with.

While I don't have an update on what Mandy shared above, what I can speak to is the value of reporting bugs and providing evidence, even if it's already on BetaHub. Duplicate reports are actually an important consideration on our side, as they help to increase the priority of a given bug. Plus, having more evidence never hurts.

So all that to say, please don't hesitate to share bug reports, even if the bug has already been reported - they still help greatly with the bug identification and fixing process.

Will do. I just don't like being an inconvience if I can help it is all. Thanks for the confirmation.

Could you or any other mod/dev at least somehow let those know who make these decisions for the Betahub this.

Like could you guys make it possible to see that the report has a log file that is the only thing that currently is noway shown to anyone than the reporter that there is one. Even if we currently can't see the video or pictures we can see that there is those on the report as it will still show that. Same thing does not happen with log files I think the reason is that for some reason when you submit a log file in a report it becomes marked as Binary file. So it does not show that there is a log file at all because its not under the log file section and there is no binary file section in the report. So either make it so if there is a binary file to show that there is one or somehow make the log file section to show it. This would help tons for console players who report bugs as they can't add log files and we who play on PC can add those if we can reproduce the bug with the steps or description they gave. In many times because that is not visible that is not possible and wastes time when eventually its changed to "Need More Info". This is also good information to see as we could point out to the original reporter faster that they need to add the log file as you can quite easily know when that is needed to get the bug fixed. Many times its too late to them to add one after they get that "Need More Info" status as it can be weeks before someone gets to it and the logs can be already overriten at that point.

This would be helpful for everyone and I would be really grateful if you would put this forward to those that can do something about it as it would be helpful to even for them.

  • I think moving forward I personally will also add the videos in the comment section of the bug I am reporting so people can also view them. As they don't get censored on the comment section. This is no risk for Behavior as I don't share any data on them anyway that could be harmful for them or for me.

For the past month, nobody has been updating report statuses on BetaHub. For example, many bugs in the "Fix Incoming" category have already been fixed. Will the team go back to updating statuses in the future?

  • Just thought to do the update as the pictures and videos are shown again on the bug reports. I found out myself by accident why Behavior did turn them off. Mandy's statement on this thread gives out the reason but did not go for the details, but makes total sense now that I know what the issue was.

  • yeah we resolved the issue that was happening with our partner on this, and should all be back to normal now!
