FOMO probably.
What does FOMO mean? (I never understood this term)
While it seems a bit silly, it gives them an out if people don't actually like the mode / aren't playing it. If the mode isn't popular, they can just let it end naturally, but extensions allow them to respond to what the players are doing.
Fear of missing out.
If there's a charm or cosmetic that won't come back and is therefore only obtainable for a limited time (PLAY OUR GAME NOW OR YOU WON'T GRT THIS THING) it's usually considered fomo.
Fear Of Missing Out. It's what flash sales and limited time events encourage. When people think the event is shorter, they jump in and engage harder before they know it's lasting longer.
