Portals now being abused by Survivors to make a cheap infinite loops and runs.
Oh boy, I'm having fun with this event for sure.
So not long ago I created multiple threads about this event being an utter disaster for killers.
Now it's another disaster which is actually gamebreaking and cheating.
First of all: Inside the void there is an infinite loop (I think everyone already know that), which contain 2 connected windows. Since there is no killer power in the void, the only viable tactic against this is to leave that survivor. You will not catch him ever.
Second issue: When survivors being chased and there are active portals around, if they have enough distance to safely enter a portal midchase, they just keep doing that in order to make an infinite distance on a killer. Running to portal after a portal. If you playing something that not Blight or Nurse, you're screwed by the time these portals disappear. This issue exist due to same "enterring portal" speed for survivors and killer.
It's a very cheap and cheating mechanic of such event.
Now that more and more survivors learning about this, my matches are getting actually frustrating the closer the end of the event.
Dear developers, no more such events please. On the next Halloween please consider all the issues that were published.
Thank you for reading!

The portal being opaque is an issue (it should be transparent). The lack of information is an issue (glow blue when you activate a ghost, you already do it in the shadow realm). The imbalanced time and effects for Survivor and Killer are an issue (Unrelenting versus old BTL, really?). Killers not being normalized to 4.6 in the shadow realm is an issue. People actually interacting with the event isn't an issue, especially if your issue is people can have a level playing field against a Blight/Nurse.
There is no red stain in the shadow realm, so you can fake a vault and mindgame a hit quite easily, or burn extra window usages in the worst case. Bloodlust still exists in the shadow realm, so hits can be bruteforced.
It hilarious that after a bunch of time with the event, standard M1 Killers are a lot better and more enjoyable, and you can just hide out Oni's power or a tunneling Nurse in the shadow realm. That is good. Weaker Killers have better odds, and stronger Killers have lessened odds. That is ideal.
I dont understand why we have to touch them for a second to enter, just let me walk through and make it so you cant go out the portal you came in from for 10 seconds.
They will do nothing about it. Mostly because its a temprorary event but also BHVR couldn't careless about the killers expirence. They will always priortize survivor over killer. No matter how much of an expense it is of a killer player. Which is why no one wants to play killer much is it gets more miserable and miserable to play as they punish you for doing well and continue to make things baseline for survivors and impliment more safety nets so they can make mistakes for days and see no consquences.
I think it dosen't help lots of content creators are showing loads of ways to abuse them for views.
Had games were the portal is at shack window or a shack door way
i know the portals are opaque visually, but correct me if i'm wrong but at least as a survivor (i'm yet to play killer), you can see each other when you stand in the portal? you just kind of turn white and the silhouette of the survivor is shown to be standing in the middle portal if that's what you mean by opaque portals. maybe that's not what the killers see, if so that's stupid and should be changed
Haha, not anymore! You won't catch HIM but you'll catch HER cuz female vaults are messed up! Woohoo D:
As far as I know, that bug was fixed 4 patches ago.
EDIT: Nevermind, seems like vaults disparity is back somehow.
pretty sure there is a new one as of today/last night, tbh they seem to be the equivalent of slow vaults ngl, bhvr is aware of it though afaik
The question here is how when they didn't touched anything about vaults as far as patch notes go. It's insane.
for real, they need to sort their code out
1st issue: use Bamboozle
It almost is like in the Sims when you have the front wall down, back wall up option. The problem is it is based on character model location, and camera location. That means since Killer is first person, the wall behind you of the portal is dropped, but the one in front is still up. It's almost like a shower curtain, you have to go in to see in, then do a loop-de-loop around it to make sure they aren't still around. (kinda... mostly...) If it were like the Sims mode where all walls are down (regardless of distance), then this wouldn't be a problem, and people wouldn't be complaining.
ohhh i see yeah that is stupid then, knowing bhvr they probably wont change it this event but here's to hoping for next year they do if they do something similar
This is so disgusting and I hate it with a vengeance. This forces me to play as unfun as possible myself. The issue could be solved by admitting that the killer is on a much tighter timeframe and has no time to spare and how unfair the portal dodging has become at this point.
Here are a couple of small fixes that will make the event at least a little bit more interesting, while still having it favor mostly the survivors:
1) increase the teleport timer for survivors by 1.0s so that they can't abuse it in a chase.
2) decrease the killers teleport timer so that they aren't as punished for entering the void.
3) make survivors lose Endurance while interacting with a portal.
4) have killers transfer all void energy to a Haunt with one single slap of their weapon, instantly freeing them.
Right now survivors can easily weave inside and out of the void, looping all over the map, with little to no consequence. Due to their smaller hitbox they can just chose a portal, run up there and be out again, while the killer, even if hot in pursuit won't make it, when they even need 0,25s to determine the right portal. And even if you interrupt a Haunt liberating party, the survivors rarely suffer any consequences of you making the right call and sniffing them out in the void, with the endurance eating up the interruption at the void portal.
I remember how survivors loathed the Masquerade event, when killers could instadown healthy survivors at blood lust 1, but at least survivors got the ability to block vault locations and conjure (weak) one-use stun pallets; that event was killer sided, but at least the survivor got something out of it. But this void event isn't balanced in the slightest. Its no issue of "duh, don't be a bore, just have some fun and play the event!", when the survivors abuse this mechanic to the uttmost and make the already tedious task of catching MFT/Resilience/WoO using auto-pilot survivors and utter painful and abyssmal experience.
