Give us SWF repeat prevention already...

I wouldn't mind the longer queue times.

If killers can tell they just faced a SWF then that means they can play more relaxed in their next match or try an experimental/meme build.

Comments

  • Wouldn't that work against you if you want to play relaxed or try an experimental build?

You're more likely to get that if you're facing a group of friends who'll play altruistically and have a higher chance of messing around than a team of solos.

  • So people get punished trying to play DBD with their friends with longer queue times. Those people find a different games to play. You basically want to tank DBD's playerbase.

Not the Seal Team Solos that everyone talks about😱

I don't know what kind of SWF's and solo's you've been facing, but I'll trade in a heartbeat.

    What?

I don't know what that first part means, but to the second part- the only times I can be sure I'm facing a SWF (outside of matching names) is when they play very altruistically, which is a good thing for both of us. It's a more active trial, there's more interaction, and there's much more I can punish because survivors are going out of their way to run into me. That's a good thing, and it helps a lot with trying out new killers or experimental builds.

What I don't want when I'm playing a new killer or an experimental build is a team of solos who play ultra safe because they don't know if they can rely on their teammates. I want cocky and in-your-face survivors because they're much, much easier to punish and their generators tend to go slower because they're all messing with the killer.

Granted, if those survivors are all really good loopers the match can be miserable, but that's true of solos too.

Killers are getting punished because survivors just want to play with their friends...

    ...and stack meta perks

    ...and strategize beforehand

...and use comms to call out the killer's plays

...and coordinate insane bodyblocks and endurance plays

If it were truly "oh, we just want to play with our friends," then the devs can take away all those extra benefits and SWF should be absolutely fine with it. (They won't be) So that excuse does not work.

Players using things in the game is not a punishment.

  • Or they could just balance the game better so solo can be more enjoyable and SWF won't have a 50% higher likelihood of getting 3 or 4 man outs every game, but I guess we don't have time for rational solutions....

This is a fair point, but it's an equally fair point that killers don't want to play against a team that has a built-in advantage. Even more so if they're using comms.

  • Killers are punished because they aren't balanced around SWF. They aren't balanced around solos. They're stuck in the middle. Hands tied behind their back and told to keep their head above water. Any skill expression from the killer is considered a bug or an exploit and is swiftly removed. Any skill expression from the survivor is considered a tech or a feature and gets praised in YouTube videos. Whatever makes 80% of the playerbase (survivor role) happy...

You can already choose to not play killer. No need to hurt people who just want to play some games with friends, because you can't handle it.

If you hadn't noticed, there's this neat little feature called Custom Game where you can play killer against bot survivors. I mean, that's what you want isn't it? Since you're complaining about how much weaker killer is in comparison to survivor.

By that logic there would be nobody for the people who want to play with their friends to face.

I don't mind it too much, but let's call it what it is: playing with friends has advantages that make it significantly easier to "win" in this game. Denying it is just lying to yourself.

That's not really a fair point considering that the advantage you get from comms is minimal unless you're a coordinated 4-man swf using callouts like Team Eternal does.

I'm just saying, if playing against SWF is such an impossible task then rather risk finding yourself in that situation don't queue up as killer.

No need to punish people who want to play games with friends when you can already avoid playing against them.

Every team using comms is going to use callouts in some capacity though, even as simple as, "[Player 1] stay on your gen, I'll go unhook [Player 2]"

I feel like there are some easy changes that could be made to make solo play stronger, which they can then use to buff killers accordingly.

For example, imo there is no reason in the world that Kindred isn't base kit. This is just one of many things, but I'm at work right now so I can't type out an essay LOL

Let me just make it clear, I don't disagree with you. Rather, what I want is to buff solos so they can be a little bit closer to the inherent strength of SWF (making Kindred base kit, for example, would be a welcome change) and then balancing killers accordingly.

I'm all for playing with friends. I do it myself. I just think that the divide between SWF and solo queue is too big.

If they gave us Bloodpoints, Iridescent Shards, and Rift Xp for customs, I would.
