The Problem with Sloppy

I'll preface this by saying that I don't think Sloppy Butcher's effect is OP. I do think its strong but I don't think it's too strong.

The issue with Sloppy is that it's too easy to apply Mangled and Hemo with it. On most killers it gives you such easy access to having both status effects on survivors for most of the game that you don't really wanna use anything ELSE that provides those effects.

There's certain other perks and a bunch of killer addons that also inflict Mangled or Hemo or sometimes both, but these are always going to just be compared to Sloppy, and with Sloppy always being applied on m1 hits, Sloppy almost always wins out with how easy it is to use. This makes other perks and addons that apply those effects much less desirable and used, and likely prevents BHVR from really ever wanting to add Mangled or Hemo to any future perks, because again, why bother using it when you can just run Sloppy?

I don't really know what I want them to do with Sloppy though. I don't think it really needs a nerf, and nerfing the perk JUST so that more people use other perks isn't... a great reason on it's own.

I'm curious what other people think. Does Sloppy make all other Mangled/Hemo perks and addons pointless?

  • I don't think it's an issue

You have addon versions of mangled/hemo for a couple of good reasons:

    1) Your power is a special attack, so sloppy doesn't work

    2) You get to free up a perk slot for other things

Gift of pain also applies the same effect.

Yes and no one runs Gift of Pain because Sloppy exists :p

  • Killers that primarily use their power for damage such as Nurse and Huntress don't really want to use a perk slot on Sloppy.

They're the exceptions, yeah, can throw in Blight and probably a couple others too. For most killers though, Sloppy always seems the best choice.

Unless you are going hit&run where you have chance to interrupt healing survivors, sloppy is not that good.

I have only few killers where I use sloppy. It's not bad, but also not best for most killers.

Lot of killers can get it from add-on anyway.

Your take is weird anyway. Sloppy is better than other perks with this effect. Sure, but it's not hard when those perks are mostly trash. Why not just buff those instead, so there are alternatives?

  • the problem with sloppy is that it needs to be buffed.

it had barely no impact on games, a nerfed to the ground gen regress perk feels like it has more impact.

survivors will either team heal in a sec or use a syringe and instantly heal.

its a bad perk that only works to crush noobs who try to solo heal.

Tbh I just think a lot of addons that only apply one of the effects should be buffed to include both so its more enticing to use over sloppy butcher, like how wraith has his addon

  • Does Sloppy make all other Mangled/Hemo perks and addons pointless?

No because add-on slot can be less valuable then perk slot especially for status effects. It is just that some mangled add-on are not good because bad condition to activate.

  • I think its well designed. Sloppy doesnt affect special attacks, so killers you constantly use their power to get downs wont benefit. Which is why those addons exist, nurse has one and its her best imo.

  • It is OP because there is no 25% faster loss of healing, you instantly lose all healing progress. It is going to get a Nerf because Behaviour always nerfs overused perks and 95% of killers use it. With no MMR low skill survivors always always die to sloppy; they do not heal others and miss skillchecks. What are your thoughts on how it should be nerfed? Easiest would be it costs a token and you start with say 4 tokens.

  • it's the hermorhage effect that I find annoying most:

-It should only bleed when running or doing actions that aren't healing

Sloppy should have a duration if the above change isn't implemented, honestly.
