My only issue with 4k = merciless is that it hurts friendly'ish killers who like to give hatch
Now we're going to be forced to always 4k if we're going for merciless. I mean, I suppose it makes sense in the name, no mercy LOL but still, would be nice to have options for killers who aren't sweating for a 4k. If the match is over, I tend to not try to rub it in and just let the last survivor hatch.

True.
But I'm more curious as to whether a DC will count as a kill, because if not...oh man, it's going to be that frigging Myers achievement at a massive scale.

Peanits says "no":
:(
I'm not sure what would change. You needed to 4k and jump through hoops before. DC still prevented you from getting adept. Now the only thing that's changed is you don't have to jump through hoops. It's simply easier.
The only reason people messed with evil incarnate so much is because it's obvious the killer is trying to go for it. Nobody is going to say "oh the killer is trying to 4k, they must be going for adept!"
It's called Merciless killer. You aren't suppose to give mercy.
The only time Merciless actually matters is for adept, so if you aren't doing adept you are free to give hatch to your heart's content.
That's...oh man that's silly. Going to be endless 'lol no adept 4u' in postgame with folks deliberately DCing to deny the killer.
Honestly you can tell if most killers are trying to do adept by paying attention to what perks they got. Almost no killer will run their 3 unique perks and not doing adept given the changes to Prestige.
Trapper not running Corrupt, has unnerving, agitation, and brutal strength? That's an adept.
Ghostface seemingly to only be running Furtive Chase and Thrilling Tremors with nothing else? probably an adept. If you have distortion or OoO you can check for I'm All Ears.
Blight running Undying and Blood Favor with Dragon's Grip. Likely adept.
I guess so. Will many survivors pay attention to that and care so much that they'll DC? And even if some do.. they would have done the same thing when getting adept was harder.
I feel like people are just creating things to complain about.
I would say most survivors who play the game a lot likely look out for the perks the killer has. I know I do. Good to keep track so that way you can figure out if you should be worried about perks like NOED.
Nobody escaping through the exit gates and a 3k would have been a bit healthier but i guess it is for something most people are only going to do once
Yeah I'm not talking about looking out for perks, I'm talking about specifically looking out for perks for adepts so someone can spoil it for the killer. I feel like it's not that common and I fail to see how this change would make it more common.
A lot of perks are obvious enough to the survivor that you don't have to look out for it. It's easy to notice a Trapper with unnerving and then watch to see if he has any non-trapper perk and if he has any of his other trapper perks.
You're entirely missing my point, possibly on purpose, so I'm gonna move on now.
As someone who took ages to do that Myers achievement...people don't need a reason to be nasty in this game. They just need an excuse.
I fail to see how this change would make it more common.
I'm just telling you that figuring out the killer going for adept isn't that hard and the kind of people who would d/c to prevent the adept will know you are trying for the adept.
Because previously, you did adepts early on into the grade reset and if you 2 hooked everyone, you could squeak it out without killing everyone.
Now, DC and you 100% deny killers the adept.
That's a valid point. That's an unfortunate downside. Not sure what the solution is but I still see the change as a net positive.
If you respect the survivor, you don't give hatch. They earn the hook.
I only care about getting a Merciless if I am going for an adept.
I give hatch every game unless the Survivor was a jerk.
To your point about friendly killer players, i don't see much of a problem there. They would just need to get a 4k ONCE for the achievement per killer, so 28(?) times and not "all the time".
Let's just hope that pipping/double pips is/are not connected to this new metric.
