Can anyone explain how this part of Archives works ?

I've been playing PTB for a while but I still can't understand what or how does Rift fragment progress works. Is it generated from normal playtime XP or from completing challanges or collecting rift fragments. Call me dumb but since it's probably bugged I can't decipher how does it work.

Here's the picture of what I'm talking about.

Dead by Daylight is an asymmetrical multiplayer (4vs1) horror game where one player takes on the role of the savage Killer, and the other four players play as Survivors, trying to escape the Killer and avoid being caught and killed.

This should be able to explain everything you need.

I’m not 100% sure since I’m not on PC, but just from watching videos on it, it seems that rift fragments are a new currency that will allow you to level up the rift.

You earn rift fragments by completing challenges in the archives. I’m not sure if there are other methods of earning RF but that’s pretty much the jist of it.
