Any tips on how to counter the hag?

idk why but everytime i go against a hag it usually results in a snowball and all of us are dead with barely 1 generator done, so how do i counter hag during a chase? like make the chase at least last 1 minute cuz the second i step in a trap on a pallet loop i'm dead.

Crouch-walk more. The Hag's great strength is that she preys on our human impatience; I suspect a lot of people just don't want to take the time to be that slow and meticulous about their movement.

One specific tip: Whenever you are either unhooking someone or BEING unhooked, HOLD THE CROUCH KEY the entire time it's happening, so that you never return to a standing position. I can't count how many times I've seen someone trigger a nearby trap the second they're off the hook, because they didn't crouch.

  • The crouch walking off hook thing just brings back painful memories... Had a game where EVERYTIME I unhooked someone, theyd start running, trip a trap and be instantly downed again. Cant really complain about tunneling when you trip the trap you SAW the killer put down while you were hanging on the hook.

  • Hag main here. Let me tell you all the things that piss me off!

    1. Flashlights. Any rarity can destroy traps, making them useless. You can destroy traps around hooks and nearby loops to either avoid being chased (if the hag is good) or to easily loop the 110% MS killer (if the hag is bad). If your team brings or finds two or more flashlights, I'll be forced to either change my play style a lot, or lose the match.
    2. Urban Evasion. This makes saving and escaping hooks much less dangerous. If hag is a huge issue for you, I'd recommend getting this perk. This perk even has a few uses outside hag matches, so it won't be too bad if you get a different killer.
    3. Keep running. If you trigger a trap during a pallet loop, consider continuing the loop. Some hags will hesitate before teleporting during a loop, and if the trap is by a pallet, they may stand still. If they do this and you run away, you have extended the loop and potentially wasted a trap. Do this too many times, and the hag might stop stopping at loops. This allows you to make a quick choice: Drop the pallet, or continue running? Either you or the hag will make the wrong choice.
    4. Abandon loops when a new trap is placed. The hag's stuck in an animation for about two seconds when she places a trap. Sometimes a hag will fake placing a trap to try and get you to leave the loop, but if you keep your eye on her, you should be safe.
    5. Trigger traps while she's occupied. This could either be while she's chasing an injured survivor, while she's carrying a survivor, or while she's across the map. It's probably not worth getting hit for, but if you think you can safely trip a trap, do it.

That's everything I can think of right now! Feel free to ask me any more questions if you have any

  • thank you guys so much for the quick response and useful tips :D

  • As a hag main all I'll say is. Expect traps to be placed in completely random places, these tips you've been given will work but hag mains also know this and will plan accordingly.

And also just avoid the killer shack, there's a 80% chance if their being a trap in it

oh yeah i can say i experimented this, a hag literally placed a trap on the hill for ppl with balanced landing and a trap literally out in the open that worked on me xd

I tend to place traps in non-obvious places -- not right on pallets or at windows or underneath hooks, but in avenues of ingress. In grass that survivors are likely to run through at some point, along escape routes from hooks, and so on.

  • Urban Evasion is the best perk to use when up against Hag, Nurse, and Spirit. I always run it.

  • Regarding the Keep Running:

Also quite interesting to know, Hag does not have any Lunge after teleporting. So a Hag player might try to lunge at you, but will it will not work. Hag is probably my favorite Killer, and even then I sometimes forget that I cannot lunge after teleporting.

Also, if a Hag is chasing you (good Hag players will not do that), loop her. She is slow and you should not chase with her like you would do with a standard 115% MS Killer. So if a Hag is doing that, take advantage of it.

And last but not least - try to avoid the Basement as much as possible. You are basically dead when you get hooked in the Basement. Sometimes it is not even worth to get other Survivors out of the Basement, when you dont have a Flashlight and/or Urban Evasion.

  • Urban Evasion, and arguably also Iron Will if injured for trap baiting.

Try to pop as many traps as you can when she's carrying someone. (Though beware, this can get you killed if she has no pressure on her to get a hook here.)

If she traps a pallet/window, you can try jumping back over a pallet you dropped, or continue running. In either case, she has the advantage here if the trap is properly placed.

Take advantage of her slower speed; it's not a big difference, but it makes certain plays and mind games more feasible. Her lower profile isn't an impediment to her hunting, though.

Her small terror radius makes her dangerous, and Hags will frequently run M&A, so healing is also quite risky thanks to the synergy with A Nurse's Calling. Be vigilant, and prepared to flee if she's on approach or your suddenly hear the terror radius hit.

Due to her lack of speed, Lightweight, Quick & Quiet, and Dance With Me can all be effective perks for juking off of mind games.
