Why am i obsession?

Since myself or the killer is not running an obsession perk, why is my chance to become obsession increase when someone else is running an obsession perk?

Shouldn't my chances be 0% since when no-one brings an obsession perk, there is no obsession?

Why is someone elses perks (not including the killer) affecting me?

  • Most likely a bug. I had a game yesterday where me and the killer both were not running an obsession perk yet I was the obsession.

Was one of your teammates running DS? New DS rework assigns the obsession status to someone else until the perk is used. Once the perk is used, the obsession changes to that person (if I understood the rework correctly)

Yeah, i get that, but why are my chances increased when someone else is increasing theirs with a perk?

My chances of being obsession should remain 0% with or without someone else running an obsession perk.

There really isn't any answer you're going to accept here, is there?

Well i haven't got an answer yet. :/

You HAVE gotten an answer, you just don't like what it is.

Maybe the Entity has a crush on him. Hows that for an answer?

Looking through the patch notes on DS and the description in game, i cannot find anything that suggests DS assigns someone else as the obsession, as it clearly states on the perk that it increases that players chances of becoming the obsession, not someone else.

if multiple people are running DS or an obsession perk, this could assign to a different player, but it shouldn't be assigning it to someone without a perk that increases its chances, as the chances should remain 0%, like they do in a game without an obsession perk.

So no, i do not have an answer.

  • Sorry but i'm still not seeing where DS assigns another player as obsession.

  • "The trade-off for using Decisive Strike comes at the risk of suddenly becoming the Killer’s latest obsession."

This just means the obsession can be passed by using DS. This doesn't mean DS forces someone else to be the obsession at the start of the game.

"After successfully using Decisive Strike, you will immediately become the obsession. This will remove the obsession from any other player, and any perks that refer to the obsession will now refer to you."

Again, this is passing on the obsession, not DS forcing another player to be the obsession at the start of the game.

I'm not taking about an obsession switch. I'm taking about a survivor being the obsession without an obsession perk. DS does not force someone else to be the obsession like your suggesting, and everything you've linked does not indicate that.

If the perk states that it increases your chances to be obsession, why would it be forced onto someone else?

You're clearly not understanding what i'm talking about.

There's one person not understanding what they're talking about here, and it ain't me.

Hes asking if an obsession is chosen by random when the match starts, not just by the person who has DS but if out of all 4 of them is one chosen from random because someone has DS equipped.

He isn't asking if the Obsession is tossed from each survivor when DS is activated.

Everything you linked is about obsession switching from one player to another. This does not explain why someone running no obsession perks is assign obsession at the start of the game.

You said 'New DS rework assigns the obsession status to someone else'. That is not how DS works. Read the description. DS increases your chances of obsession. How is it increasing your chances if it assigns it to someone else? What?

Sorry but your not talking about the same thing i am.

  • If there is an Obsession perk in play, any survivor can now be the Obsession. It doesn’t matter if you are running an Obsession perk or not, you can be the Obsession. If you are running an Obsession perk, your chance of being the Obsession is increased, but not guaranteed, even if you are the only player running one. This was done to prevent the killer from knowing who is running and Obsession perk.

Yes, this is what i am asking. Finally someone with a brain.

Thank you. This is what i am after.
