100%, correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the Evil Dead franchise for the first time ever, ALL under one banner? And since BHVR gave Ash a proper P100 badge and not the RE treatment, I think new Ash content is a matter of when and not if (hopefully).
Everything except Army of Darkness is from now on represented by StudioCanal in terms of licensing the franchise going forward. It's also something that happened after bhvr's existing license was made and without a full on re-negotiation, we won't get anything from the other installments.
Okay, good to know AoD is still the white whale of the franchise. Regarding the current license negotiation, that makes sense but I truly hope that BHVR renegs the deal someday so we can get Evil Dead 2 Chosen One Ash because that has always been my dream DBD cosmetic.
The Evil Dead game managed to get licensed characters from ALL of the franchises. It can be done.
I don't see why BHVR couldn't negotiate a deal with the AoD license holder.
Because bhvr have stated more than once before that they don't mix licenses owned by different companies or people together, regardless if it's licenses for the same franchise or not. It makes things way more complicated legally and muddles the waters way more, having a single contract that multiple seperate and different entities are a part of, compared to just having a licensed contract with only a single entity.
While they could technically bring in Army of Darkness as a crossover, it would still be as its own seperate thing and wouldn't connect to the Ash vs Evil Dead chapter in any way, nor would it give the Ash we have already any cosmetics from Army of Darkness, unless they brought in the version of Ash from Army of Darkness as his own seperate Survivor.
Also there's a very big difference between bringing in an IP as an addition to an existing game that's unrelated to said IP, and making an entire game around that IP as its foundation.
