Would you like a *War of the Worlds* (Steven Spielberg) chapter in DBD? Here is an explanation of th
DEAD BY DAYLIGHT
WAR OF THE WORLDS
“There is nowhere to hide.”
A new chapter inspired by War of the Worlds (2005), directed by Steven Spielberg.
The Fog opens over an apparently abandoned city.
The streets are covered with destroyed vehicles. The lights go out one after another. In the distance, an impossible sound can be heard:
The horn of a Tripod.
The Entity has found something that even it considers terrifying.
👽 THE NEW KILLER
THE TRIPOD
Name: The TripodReal Name: War MachineHeight: EnormousMovement Speed: 4.6 m/sTerror Radius: SpecialDifficulty: Very Hard
One of the alien machines that arrived on Earth has been dragged into the Fog.
But here there is one difference:
In this realm, the machine no longer needs to obey anyone.
The Entity has given it a new purpose:
FIND THE SURVIVORS.
⚙️ KILLER POWER
“INVASION”
The Tripod uses its sensors and enormous mobility to locate and hunt Survivors.
Its power is divided into three abilities:
🔴 1. TRACKING
The Tripod can activate its sensors.
For a few seconds, Survivors in open areas leave a visible signal for the Tripod.
The longer a Survivor remains moving, the easier they are to locate.
Counterplay: hiding inside buildings, behind obstacles, and in enclosed areas makes tracking more difficult.
📢 2. WAR HORN
The Tripod can emit its characteristic sound.
When using War Horn:
- Survivors within a large radius hear the sound.
- Survivors performing certain actions suffer a brief interruption.
- Survivors near the Tripod become temporarily marked.
The sound serves as a warning:
“It has found you.”
⚡ 3. ENERGY BEAM
The Tripod charges its systems for a brief moment and fires a powerful beam forward.
It does not work as an instant attack: it requires a short charge-up and a clear line of sight.
If it hits a Survivor:
they are downed.
To prevent it from being too powerful, the attack has:
- A charge time.
- A cooldown.
- Limited range.
- A clear visual warning before firing.
This gives Survivors a chance to react.
🌎 SPECIAL ABILITY
“FOG INVASION”
At certain moments during the trial, the Tripod can activate an invasion.
The sky darkens and its enormous siren can be heard.
For several seconds:
visibility is reduced for everyone.
The Tripod, however, becomes better at detecting Survivor movement.
When the effect ends, everything returns to normal.
🔥 TRIPOD PERKS
1. “NOWHERE TO HIDE”
Humans can hide...
but machines always find a way to locate them.
Whenever a Survivor remains in the same area for too long without moving, their aura can be briefly revealed.
“You can hide from me. But you cannot hide from them.”
2. “PANIC”
When a Survivor sees the Tripod for the first time during a chase, all other Survivors nearby temporarily receive an effect that makes their actions more difficult.
Fear spreads.
One person sees the monster.
Everyone feels that it is near.
3. “THE INVASION”
Whenever a generator is completed, the Tripod receives information about the areas where the remaining generators are located.
For a few seconds, it also becomes better at detecting movement.
The trial progresses.
But so does the invasion.
🧑 THE NEW SURVIVOR
RAY FERRIER
Survivor: Ray FerrierPortrayed in the movie by: Tom Cruise
Ray is not a soldier.
He is not a hero with superpowers.
He is simply a father who managed to survive when the invasion began.
And now the Entity has forced him to return to that world.
This time, without his children.
🛠️ RAY'S PERKS
1. “PROTECTIVE FATHER”
When another nearby Survivor is injured, Ray receives a small bonus when performing actions intended to help them.
If he takes a hit while protecting another Survivor, both Survivors gain a temporary movement-speed bonus.
“Run! I’ll handle this!”
2. “SURVIVE AT ALL COSTS”
When Ray is injured and the Killer is nearby, he receives information about nearby escape routes.
The perk represents the experience he gained during the invasion:
Ray has already learned that staying still can be a mistake.
3. “DON’T LOOK BACK”
After escaping a chase, Ray can temporarily receive a small bonus to perform actions related to objectives.
The effect has a cooldown to prevent it from being used constantly.
Ray doesn't stop.
He keeps moving.
🏚️ NEW MAP“BOSTON IN RUINS”
The Fog has recreated an area of the city after the beginning of the invasion.
The map includes:
- Abandoned streets.
- Stopped vehicles.
- Destroyed houses.
- A partially collapsed tunnel.
- A highway area.
- An improvised shelter.
- The remains of an evacuation.
And on the horizon...
A TRIPOD.
Its silhouette can be seen through the Fog.
🎵 ATMOSPHERE
The map would be accompanied by a dark and atmospheric soundtrack.
From time to time, players would hear:
A distant rumble.
The ground shaking.
And finally...
📢 THE HORN.
When it sounds, everyone knows what it means.
THE TRIPOD IS NEAR.
🎬 CHAPTER CINEMATIC
Ray runs down a completely empty road.
He looks behind him.
Nothing.
He continues running.
Then...
BOOOOM.
The ground shakes.
Ray stops.
Slowly raises his head.
A huge silhouette emerges from the Fog.
Three legs.
An impossible machine.
The Tripod slowly turns toward him.
Ray steps backward.
The siren begins to sound.
“OOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAH...”
The screen fades to black.
The logo appears:
DEAD BY DAYLIGHT
WAR OF THE WORLDS
“THE INVASION HAS BEGUN.”
🎮 GAMEPLAY
The concept is designed for the Tripod to specialize in:
🔎 Detection → 📢 Pressure → ⚡ Ranged Attacks → 🏃 Chases
Survivors would have to use buildings and obstacles to avoid the Tripod's line of sight, while the Killer would have an advantage in open areas.
This would preserve the fundamental idea of DBD: Survivors repair generators and try to escape while the Killer hunts them and attempts to stop them.
