Origional Killer Idea
I had fun making this killer idea. Aspects of her powers are simular to ones that already exist. (Mirrors acting similar to Springtraps doors with a twist)
DEAD BY DAYLIGHT — ORIGINAL KILLER CONCEPT
Real Name: Evelina Moreau
Killer Name: The Illusionest
Weapon: The Final Prop — an ornate magician’s cane concealing a sharpened steel blade
Movement Speed: 4.6 m/s
Terror Radius: 32 metres
Height: Average
Difficulty: Very Hard
Playstyle: Deception, mobility, information, environmental manipulation
“A trick is only boring once the audience understands it.”
The Illusionest is a deceptive Killer who transforms the Trial into her personal stage.
Her primary Power, Smoke and Mirrors, creates a network of supernatural Grand Mirrors that both sides can use. Evelina can vanish into them and either emerge somewhere else herself or send out a controllable duplicate.
Her secondary ability, Prestidigitation, lets her manipulate the state of Pallets through a limited supply of Trick Tokens.
Finally, Showmanship changes her passive strengths according to the size of her remaining “audience.” Evelina thrives while the Trial is crowded, becomes increasingly focused as Survivors die, and abandons raw statistical advantages entirely when only one Survivor remains.
LOREEvelina Moreau had never been particularly remarkable. That was precisely the problem.
Her earliest performances took place wherever someone would give her a stage: roadside carnivals, hotel lounges, cramped theatres and smoky clubs. Cheap posters announced THE MARVELOUS MISS MOREAU, although there was little marvelous about disappearing cards, silk handkerchiefs and marked coins.
Still, people applauded. Evelina discovered early that applause was intoxicating. She studied everything she could find about illusion: false compartments, trapdoors, hidden wires, mirrored cabinets, sleight of hand and misdirection.
She became particularly talented at convincing an audience they had witnessed something impossible when, in reality, they had simply been looking in the wrong direction. For a while, it worked. Then the empty seats began appearing. Audiences whispered through tricks they had already seen. Applause became polite rather than enthusiastic.
Evelina responded by escalating. Volunteers disappeared from one cabinet and emerged from another across the theatre. She escaped restraints while submerged underwater. Assistants dangled beneath sharpened blades.
The crowds returned. Then one night, a mechanism failed. An assistant was badly injured before a horrified audience. They screamed, then they applauded not knowing the truth.
Evelina never forgot that sound. Danger became part of the act. The restraints became real, the blades became sharp. An assistant drowned during an escape routine, a volunteer lost three fingers, a man disappeared during a performance and was discovered hours later trapped inside a trunk, barely alive.
Authorities called them accidents, Evelina called them growing pains. Then a trick went exactly as planned.
A volunteer entered one of Evelina’s mirrored cabinets, she drove six blades through it, when the cabinet opened, the man inside was dead. His body hidden behind a fake panel showing a empty box to the crowd
Evelina bowed, only afterward did they realize it was real when blood started to appear under the box, but by that time she made her escape.
Her next performance sold every seat in the theatre, but police officers waited among the audience, intending to arrest Evelina once the curtain fell. However, she noticed them, so she simply changed the finale.
Evelina introduced one of her oldest tricks: The Vanishing Lady. She stepped into an ornate mirrored cabinet and closed the door. The police rushed the stage, tore it open, but only black fog poured from inside.
Evelina Moreau was gone, and she was never seen again, at least, not by anyone who escaped her next performance.
KILLER POWER — SMOKE AND MIRRORSThe Entity manifests a network of Grand Mirrors throughout the Trial.
Grand Mirrors are shared Killer props.
Evelina uses them for:
- Teleportation
- Projection
- Misdirection
- Information gathering
Survivors can use them for reconnaissance.
But, every interaction carries risk.
GRAND MIRROR DISTRIBUTIONThe number of Grand Mirrors depends on the size and structure of the map.
A Trial can contain:
Minimum: 5 Grand Mirrors
Maximum: 9 Grand Mirrors
The Entity generally attempts to provide approximately one Grand Mirror for each Generator initially present, although individual maps can use specifically tuned values.
General Distribution
Small or tightly structured indoor maps:
Approximately 5 Mirrors
Average maps:
Approximately 6–7 Mirrors
Large maps:
Approximately 8 Mirrors
Exceptionally large maps:
Maximum of 9 Mirrors
Mirrors could obey minimum-distance restrictions to prevent excessive clustering. Maybe a way to have it so no others spawn within a range of another.
Indoor maps prioritize strategically useful rooms, corridors and intersections rather than simply using total square footage.
OPENING ACTAt the beginning of the Trial, every Grand Mirror is covered by a supernatural black curtain.
For the first 30 seconds, Grand Mirrors cannot be used by either side.
The Illusionest cannot:
- Enter the Mirror Network
- Use The Great Disappearing Act
- Create The Reflection
Survivors cannot:
- Peer Through
- Trigger Mirror interactions
After 30 seconds, the curtains collapse into Black Fog and every Grand Mirror becomes active simultaneously.
This prevents Evelina from spawning beside a Mirror and teleporting across the map within the opening seconds of the Trial.
Prestidigitation and Showmanship remain active normally during the Opening Act.
MIRROR INTEGRITYEvery Grand Mirror begins with:
3 Integrity
Teleporting to a Grand Mirror through The Great Disappearing Act removes 1 Integrity from that destination Mirror.
Creating The Reflection costs no Integrity.
Peer Through costs no Integrity.
At 0 Integrity, the Mirror shatters.
A shattered Grand Mirror becomes unusable by both sides.
After approximately 90 seconds, the Entity reconstructs it, pulling glass fragments through the Black Fog and reforming them inside the frame.
Mirror Integrity prevents Evelina from endlessly teleporting without gradually damaging her own transportation network.
ENTER THE REFLECTIONThe Illusionest may interact with any intact Grand Mirror.
Evelina places her hand against its surface, her reflection stops mimicking her, the glass ripples, she steps through, her physical body completely disappears from the Trial. No stationary body remains behind.
Survivors therefore cannot:
- Find Evelina’s helpless body
- Blind her
- Stun her
- Body-block her return position
- Interrupt her while she occupies the Mirror Network
While inside the network, Evelina can cycle between intact Grand Mirrors and receive a restricted view of their immediate surroundings.
She may then perform one of two actions: The Great Disappearing Act or Mirror Image
THE GREAT DISAPPEARING ACTSelect another intact Grand Mirror. After a brief emergence sequence, Evelina steps through it. The destination Mirror loses 1 Integrity.
After emerging, Evelina suffers Fatigue for 3 seconds.
During Fatigue:
- Basic Attacks cannot be performed
- Prestidigitation cannot be used
- Grand Mirrors cannot be entered
- Movement remains unrestricted
This prevents Evelina from teleporting directly beside a Survivor and converting the teleport into an unavoidable immediate hit.
IDENTICAL EMERGENCE CUESThe Great Disappearing Act and Mirror Image use identical audiovisual effects.
Both produce the same:
- Cracking glass
- Black Fog
- Mirror movement
- Sound effect
- Musical sting
- Initial emergence animation
Survivors cannot determine whether the real Evelina or The Reflection is emerging based purely on audio.
They have to identify the trick themselves.
MIRROR IMAGEInstead of emerging herself, Evelina may send The Reflection from a selected Grand Mirror.
Control transfers to The Reflection. Evelina remains safely inside the Mirror Network. The Mirror Evelina originally entered becomes her hidden Origin Mirror. The Reflection has no maximum duration. The Killer may manually dispel it whenever desired. After The Reflection ends, Mirror Image enters a 30-second cooldown.
THE REFLECTIONThe Reflection appears visually identical to Evelina. (Maybe a very slight initial haze that goes away)
It possesses:
- 4.6 m/s movement speed
- Evelina’s Terror Radius
- Red Stain
- Chase music
- Footsteps
- Breathing
- Basic Attack animations
- Normal Window vaulting
The Reflection cannot:
- Injure Survivors
- Damage Generators
- Break Pallets
- Break Breakable Walls
- Pick up Survivors
- Use Prestidigitation
- Interact with Mirrors
- Collide with Survivors
- Collide with Pallets
The Reflection can freely pass through Pallets. The player controlling it does not have to. An experienced Illusionest can stop at a dropped Pallet, path around it, hesitate near obstacles or otherwise pretend the Reflection follows normal Killer collision rules. Likewise, the real Evelina can intentionally imitate how the Reflection behaves. The power’s skill ceiling therefore comes from deceiving the Survivor player rather than simply generating artificial effects.
ILLUSORY BASIC ATTACKSThe Reflection can perform Basic Attacks. If an attack would successfully hit a Survivor, the weapon harmlessly phases through them. The Survivor loses no Health State.
Instead:
Their Aura is revealed for 8 seconds.
The Reflection therefore converts successful fake chases into information rather than damage.
TESTING THE ILLUSIONThe Reflection has no Survivor collision. Survivors can deliberately attempt to run through it. Doing so confirms that Evelina is fake.
However: Their Aura is revealed for 6 seconds.
The Reflection remains active. Calling Evelina’s bluff therefore provides certainty at the cost of revealing information to the Killer.
DISPELLING THE REFLECTIONBright light destabilizes the illusion. a successful flashlight stun or simular action causes The Reflection to shatter. (The Reflection does not have the perks the real one has, it is treated has having none on. Looking at you all that thought about Lightborn)
The Killer may also manually dismiss The Reflection.
Regardless of how the fake disappears: Evelina must return through her Origin Mirror.
She cannot select another destination after using Mirror Image. This prevents Mirror Image from functioning as consequence-free teleportation.
THE ORIGIN MIRRORThe Grand Mirror Evelina originally entered before creating The Reflection becomes the Origin Mirror.
Nothing visually identifies it to Survivors.
It has:
- No special glow
- No unusual Fog
- No unique sound
- No altered frame
- No Survivor-facing indicator
The only way Survivors can reliably know which Mirror is the Origin is by witnessing Evelina enter it or remembering where the trick began. When The Reflection ends, Evelina automatically emerges from the Origin Mirror.
ORIGIN MIRROR GRABThere is no warning for this interaction.
If a Survivor is interacting with Evelina’s Origin Mirror at the exact moment The Reflection is dispelled, Evelina performs a unique grab.
The Survivor looks into the glass. Their reflection suddenly stops moving, Evelina appears behind it she reaches through the Mirror and seizes them. The Survivor is dragged partially through the glass before Evelina steps outward. Evelina emerges from the Grand Mirror already carrying the Survivor.
The interaction counts as a successful Killer grab.
Because the interaction requires a Survivor to be using the exact Origin Mirror at the exact moment The Reflection ends, it intentionally provides no additional reaction warning.
SURVIVOR INTERACTION — PEER THROUGHSurvivors may interact with any intact Grand Mirror and Peer Through.
They select another intact Mirror and temporarily view the environment surrounding it. Their physical body remains stationary at the Mirror they originally touched.
Peer Through can be used to:
- Scout Generators
- Locate teammates
- Check dangerous areas
- Search for Evelina
- Investigate potential routes
- Gather information about the Mirror Network
However, using Evelina’s props creates a significant risk.
AUDIENCE PARTICIPATIONIf Evelina selects a Grand Mirror as the destination for The Great Disappearing Act while a Survivor is currently using that destination Mirror to Peer Through, the normal teleport changes.
The Survivor’s reflection freezes. Evelina appears behind it, and a unique warning begins.
If the Survivor does not abandon Peer Through within approximately 1.5–2 seconds, Evelina reaches through the Mirror Network and grabs them.
Instead of Evelina teleporting to the Survivor: The Survivor is transported to Evelina.
Evelina returns through the Mirror she originally entered carrying them.
Unlike the rare Origin Mirror Grab, Audience Participation gives the Survivor a brief reaction window because Evelina is deliberately targeting their active Mirror.
SECONDARY ABILITY — PRESTIDIGITATIONThe Illusionest begins the Trial with:
3 Trick Tokens
Maximum capacity:
3 Trick Tokens
The first time each individual Survivor is hooked, Evelina receives 1 Trick Token.
While targeting a nearby Pallet, spend 1 Trick Token to alter its state.
(Survivors can reset pallets, why not give a killer a way to as well?)
Pallet Shuffle
Upright → Dropped
Dropped → Upright
Destroyed → Reconstructed and Upright
Magically dropping a Pallet cannot stun either side.
A Pallet manipulated through Prestidigitation cannot be affected again for 45 seconds.
A Pallet reconstructed from a destroyed state cannot be manipulated again until a Survivor has dropped it normally. Prestidigitation allows Evelina to make Survivors distrust their own memory of which resources have already been consumed.
INNATE POWER — SHOWMANSHIPEvelina’s strengths change according to how many members of her audience remain alive.
Showmanship contains three Acts.
ACT I — THE GRAND PERFORMANCEActive while 3 or 4 Survivors remain alive.
FULL HOUSE — 4 SURVIVORS
Evelina gains:
- 3% Haste outside Chase
- 10% faster Pallet and Breakable Wall destruction
- 7% faster vaulting
The larger her audience, the more enthusiastically Evelina performs.
DWINDLING CROWD — 3 SURVIVORS
Bonuses decrease to:
- 1.5% Haste outside Chase
- 5% faster Pallet and Breakable Wall destruction
- 3% faster vaulting
Her performance begins losing its purpose as the audience disappears.
ACT II — THE CLOSING ACTActivates when 2 Survivors remain alive.
All Grand Performance bonuses are disabled. After maintaining a Chase for 8 continuous seconds, Evelina activates Finale.
While Finale is active:
- Successful Basic Attacks recover 5% faster. (movement speed decreases by 5% for 3 seconds)
- Breaking a Pallet grants 5% Haste for 3 seconds
Finale ends when Chase ends. Another continuous 8-second Chase is required to activate it again.
Rather than rapidly moving between audience members, Evelina becomes committed to finishing a single pursuit.
ACT III — AN EMPTY THEATREActivates when 1 Survivor remains alive.
Finale is disabled. Evelina receives no additional statistical advantage.
Instead, Mirror Image changes. Illusory Basic Attacks and physical contact with The Reflection no longer reveal the final Survivor’s Aura.
When an illusory Basic Attack successfully connects: Their aura is shown for 1 second for each attack that lands when the illusion ends. (Max of 3 seconds)
TEACHABLE PERKSHEX: CENTER STAGE
You demand everyone’s attention, even when doing so exposes your secrets.
Whenever you begin a Chase while Hex: Center Stage remains active, all Survivors farther than 24 metres from you have their Auras revealed for: 4/5/6 seconds
Whenever Center Stage successfully reveals at least one Survivor, every other survivor and you see the aura of active hex totems for 3 seconds.
Cooldown: 25 seconds
Center Stage intentionally carries unusually high risk and reward.
The Killer receives repeated global information.
Every successful activation helps the Survivors find and permanently destroy the source of that information.
MISDIRECTIONThe easiest way to hide what matters is to make someone look somewhere else.
After damaging a Generator, Misdirection activates on it for: 30/35/40 seconds
When a Survivor begins repairing that Generator, the Generator with the highest repair progress other than the affected Generator becomes highlighted to you for 6/12/24 seconds.
Cooldown: 40 seconds
THUNDEROUS APPLAUSEEvery reaction is part of the performance.
After hooking a Survivor, Thunderous Applause activates for: 20/25/30 seconds
The first other Survivor to perform a rushed action:
- Screams
- Becomes Oblivious for 20 seconds
Thunderous Applause then deactivates.
ADD-ONSThe Illusionest possesses 20 Add-ons.
- 2 Iridescent
- 4 Very Rare
- 5 Rare
- 5 Uncommon
- 4 Common
IRIDESCENT MIRROR SHARD
A fragment from Evelina’s final cabinet. Every reflection inside it appears moments away from bleeding.
When The Reflection successfully lands an illusory Basic Attack:
- The Survivor becomes Exposed for 15 seconds
- Their Aura is revealed for 8 seconds
- The Reflection immediately dispels
- Mirror Image’s cooldown increases by 10 seconds
The Reflection still cannot damage the Survivor.
Because the fake immediately disappears, Evelina is forced back through her Origin Mirror and must personally capitalize on the brief Exposed duration.
HALL OF MIRRORS
The grand finale was never about making one Evelina disappear. It was about convincing the audience she was everywhere.
Whenever Evelina performs The Great Disappearing Act, every intact Grand Mirror simultaneously produces the normal emergence audio.
An Evelina appears from every intact Grand Mirror.
Immediately after emerging:
- Every version remains completely stationary
- The real Evelina is visually indistinguishable from the copies
- Once the Killer player begins moving, only the real Evelina acts
- Every false Evelina remains stationary
- False copies disappear shortly afterward
- Copies cannot attack
- Copies cannot move
- Copies have no collision
- Copies cannot reveal Auras
- Copies cannot interact with anything
The actual destination Mirror loses: 2 Integrity instead of 1
Hall of Mirrors does not conceal the fact that Evelina has teleported.
It conceals where she went.
VERY RARE ADD-ONSBLOODIED WHITE GLOVE
Passing through The Reflection reveals a Survivor’s Aura for 10 seconds instead of 6.
When Evelina returns through her Origin Mirror afterward, affected Survivors see that Mirror’s Aura for 2 seconds.
RIGGED TRAPDOOR
Prestidigitation targeting range increases by 50%.
Using Prestidigitation grants 5% Haste for 3 seconds.
However, the affected Pallet cannot be manipulated again for:
60 seconds instead of 45
THE MARVELOUS MOREAU POSTER
Reduces The Great Disappearing Act’s Fatigue by 1 second.
The destination Mirror becomes unavailable to Evelina for 20 seconds afterward.
ASSISTANT’S CUE SHEET
Whenever Evelina or The Reflection emerges, one additional intact Grand Mirror produces identical audiovisual emergence cues.
Mirror Image cooldown increases by 8 seconds.
SILVERED COMPACT
Passing through The Reflection reveals the Survivor’s Aura for 3 additional seconds.
STAGE MANAGER’S STOPWATCH
Reduces Mirror Image’s cooldown by 15%.
CRACKED POCKET WATCH
Shattered Grand Mirrors reconstruct 15 seconds faster.
OPERA GLASSES
Entering the Mirror Network reveals the Auras of Survivors currently using Peer Through for 5 seconds.
FALSE DECK
Using Prestidigitation reveals Survivors within 12 metres of the affected Pallet for 4 seconds.
UNCOMMON ADD-ONSPOLISHED CANE
Prestidigitation targeting range increases by 15%.
SPARE MIRROR GLASS
Shattered Grand Mirrors reconstruct 10 seconds faster.
STAGE MAKEUP
Illusory Basic Attacks reveal Survivor Auras for 2 additional seconds.
SILK HANDKERCHIEF
Reduces The Great Disappearing Act’s Fatigue by 0.3 seconds.
MARKED PLAYING CARD
After using Peer Through, a Survivor’s Scratch Marks remain visible 1 second longer for 15 seconds.
COMMON ADD-ONSThese are intentionally simple filler Add-ons providing no more than roughly 5–10% numerical improvement.
CHEAP ROUGE
Mirror Image cooldown reduced by 5%.
BENT TRICK COIN
Prestidigitation targeting range increased by 5%.
CLOUDED GLASS
The Great Disappearing Act’s Fatigue is reduced by 5%.
FRAYED CURTAIN CORD
Grand Mirror reconstruction time is reduced by 5%.
MORI — THE FINAL PERFORMANCEThe downed Survivor desperately attempts to crawl away. Evelina approaches slowly before stopping several feet from them. She raises one hand, black fog begins gathering from the ground. An ornate magicians boxrises from beneath the Survivor. Its wooden panels are decorated with faded gold trim, mirrored sections, velvet curtains and markings from Evelina’s old stage performances.
The cabinet doors slowly open on their own, and Evelina looks at the Survivor. She gives them a small, almost appreciative applause. Three quiet claps, like she is giving someone a que. Then she grabs them, the Survivor struggles as Evelina shoves them backward into the open cabinet.
The doors violently slam shut, a mechanical clicking begins. The entire cabinet rises slightly and starts to spin. Evelina reaches into the black fog and produces a long stage sword. She drives it through the rotating cabinet.
The Survivor screams from inside.vEvelina produces another blade. Stab. Another scream. Then another, and another. The cabinet continues spinning as Evelina rhythmically plunges increasingly elaborate swords, knives and sharpened metal rods through it from different directions.
Every strike produces another muffled cry from inside. The pace becomes faster. Eventually, the cabinet is covered in protruding blades, and its spinning abruptly stops.
Silence.
Evelina reaches into the Fog one final time. She produces a last sword, unlike the others, she pauses before using it as she looks toward an imaginary audience, smiles and raises the weapon and she drives it directly through the upper portion of the cabinet.
The doors slowly open, the Survivor is revealed suspended upright inside, impaled from nearly every direction by the mass of blades. The final sword has passed through their head.
Evelina steps beside the cabinet, she extends one arm, places the other across her waist, and performs a deep, practiced bow. The doors slam shut, the entire box, still containing the dead Survivor and every blade, slowly sinks back into the ground.
Evelina straightens her clothing. She gives the empty stage a satisfied glance, then returns to the Trial.
The show must go on.
Primary Strengths
- Strong but limited map mobility
- Powerful deception
- Information gathering through The Reflection
- Limited Pallet manipulation
- Shared map mechanic with meaningful Survivor interaction
- High skill ceiling
- Several distinct Add-on build paths
Primary Weaknesses
- The Reflection cannot inflict direct damage
- Time spent unsuccessfully controlling the fake sacrifices real pressure
- Teleportation damages the Mirror Network
- Light-based equipment counters Mirror Image
- Mirror Image always returns Evelina to her Origin Mirror
- Prestidigitation is limited by Trick Tokens
- Survivor Mirror use provides useful reconnaissance
- Her passive bonuses weaken as her audience dies
- The strongest chase bonuses disappear completely against the final Survivor
The 30-second Opening Act also prevents Evelina from immediately exploiting her map-wide mobility before Survivors have had an opportunity to begin the Trial normally.
CORE DESIGN PHILOSOPHYThe Illusionest should become dangerous because of player deception, not because Survivors lack ways to understand her mechanics. A beginner sends The Reflection directly through a Pallet, the Survivor immediately knows it is fake. BUT, an experienced player stops at the Pallet, and paths around it. A specialist spends the Trial conditioning Survivors to recognize those behaviors.
Then they start doing exactly the same things while controlling the real Evelina. A Survivor sees her approaching. She hesitates strangely, she avoids walking directly through their path.
She swings too early, the Survivor recognizes the pattern. They stop running, and they think they have figured out the trick. It is obviously the fake.
Evelina swings again, This time, the blade draws blood. That is the core fantasy of The Illusionest.
Her question is not simply: “Where is the Killer?”
It is: “Is that actually the Killer?”
And her greatest trick is teaching Survivors that knowing the answer still may not save them.
