Original character, Savannah Harlom

Name: The Addict

Part of: Hollow Embrace

Appearance: Mid 20s, pale skin, riddled in scars. Hair is brown, messy, unkempt. Wears a blank white ceramic face mask with a red hand print over the left eye. Tattered and bloody blue-grey hoodie, black leggings, and black sneakers.

Weapon: Metal pocket knife with a spiderweb design.

Height: Medium
Terror Radius: 30m
Speed: 4.6m/s

Killer Power: Unnatural Novocain

Savannah Harlom was born with an unnatural condition: peripheral neuropathy throughout her entire body. It took a lot of effort for her to feel anything physically. But as she grew older, she found violence was a wonderful and fast way to experience feeling. Now she happily lashes out for any reason as an excuse to feel something again.

Reckless Abandon
Press and hold the Power Button to charge up a lunge attack, dashing forward and swinging either after letting go of the button or extending the full lunge. If The Addict is stunned or blinded during Reckless Abandon, the duration of the stun or blind is 15% longer.

Special State: Absolute Desensitize
Unnatural Novocain passively fills the Power Gauge by 1.11%/sec. Whenever a survivor stuns The Addict, gain 20% charge for the Power Gauge, unless carrying a survivor, to which The Addict gains 10% charge.

When the Power Gauge is fully charged, press the Activate Ability Button to enter Absolute Desensitize. While in Absolute Desensitize, movement speed is increased to 4.8m/s, Reckless Abandon cannot be used, and when The Addict is stunned, the stun is ignored, the pallet breaks immediately if stunned by a pallet, The Addict is inflicted with 25% Hindered for 3 seconds, and Absolute Desensitize is deactivated, returning the Power Gauge to 0%.

If The Addict picks up a downed survivor while in Absolute Desensitize, Absolute Desensitize is deactivated but will conserve any remaining charge.

Perks

Unfelt Burn

After basic breaking a generator, this perk activates for 20/25/30 seconds.

If a survivor starts repairing the generator while this perk is activated, skill checks are silent and missing a skill check will cause the generator to lose an additional 5% progress.

She didn’t notice her flesh burning until she could smell the smoke.

Adrenal Reliance

Gain Bloodlust 15/30/45% faster and keep it 30/40/50% longer unless hitting a survivor is the cause of losing it.

“The mundane is never enough, I need MORE” - Savannah Harlom

Hex: Overflow

At the start of the Trial, a dull totem is ignited.

Whenever you put a survivor into the dying state, all survivors currently working on a generator face a difficult skill check. Failing it will make the generator explode, losing 10% progress as well as making the survivors scream and reveal their aura for 4 seconds.

Succeeding at the difficult skill check will give no reward, but will prevent the generator from exploding.

One feeling was never enough.

Lore

Born with an incredibly rare medical condition, Savannah Harlom wasn’t able to feel anything for as long as she’s been alive; peripheral neuropathy throughout her entire body caused her nerves to be almost completely deadened. It took extreme amounts of effort for her to physically feel things touching her. She couldn’t feel hugs from her parents, her favorite teddy bear from her infancy, scrapes from falling off a skateboard, or even purposely inflicted injuries unless gone to harsh lengths to inflict them.

In high school, after retaliation against a bully resulting in a fist fight, Savannah drew blood for the first time in her life. After the fight, she couldn’t help but stare down at the splatter of blood on her hands and wrists. The blood of that bully on her skin, she could actually feel it, and it felt like heaven. Every drop and speckle of blood felt like the hand of a long forgotten god reaching down from the heavens and caressing her skin.

She needed more of it. It wasn’t a want, it was a desperate need, one she almost couldn’t control. She tried cutting herself, but it didn’t feel the same. Animal blood didn’t feel right either. It had to be human blood and it had to be someone else’s, it couldn’t be substituted, it just wouldn’t work. The blood of others was the gentle, beautiful, loving embrace of the god, every drop was precious and she needed it more than anything else.

She started seeking out reasons to lash out and fight. The need to feel that beautiful, gentle, perfect caress of her god slowly became something she couldn’t live without. Soon she went from picking fights to murder. Her first murder was an accident. She attacked a man in hopes of drawing blood and running off, but he pulled out a knife and the fight started being a struggle to stay alive very fast. She found a metal pipe in an alleyway while trying to flee, and she attacked the man like a wild animal.

After he died, she tore into his arms with the very knife he tried to use on her. She desperately needed to feel the blood on her skin again, to feel alive, to feel her god touch her once more.

Over the next few years, she started killing by choice and loved it. She took her victims to an old abandoned manor out in the middle of the forest, where she would paint out a ritual circle in blood as an offering to her god, her guardian, her beautiful deity. The local authorities never found a lead in any of the missing persons cases and the papers were having the time of their lives writing about local serial killers.

Then, on Halloween night, after Savannah had dragged a woman to her ritualistic haven for another sacrifice and indulgence into her blood drug, the woman put up a fight and accidentally knocked a candle onto the rug on the floor. The ancient and rotting house ignited instantly.

In a fit of rage at how the woman had started destroying her haven, Savannah attacked the woman, knowing the fire was spreading too fast to put out. With her bare hands, she clawed and ripped at the woman, then grabbed her ceremonial pocket knife she’d stolen from a gas station, carving her ritual circle into the woman’s chest, screaming and crying at how her offering to her god had been ruined.

Her anger and frustration blinded her from the dark fog starting to cover the mansion’s wooden floors. Her tunnel vision at getting at least one final kill in the name of her god kept her attention focused on the dying woman, oblivious to the darkness slowly creeping in and smothering the fire.

When she finally killed her sacrifice and stood up, expecting the glow of fire around her, she saw only fog and felt a familiar embrace. Her god had come to take her away. She’d pleased her angel and it had come to take her to a new place, a place she trusted to be beautiful and perfect. In the distance, through the fog, she saw figures running, and understood immediately. Her guardian and god had given her paradise; a realm where the blood could flow infinitely and she could be in the comfort of her god forever.

Lore

For nearly three years, the town of Markmaul, Arkansas, had been haunted by stories of missing people. Police called them isolated disappearances. Residents whispered about a serial killer. Elias Mercer refused to accept either explanation.

A journalist known for exposing corruption and cold cases, Elias became obsessed with connecting the disappearances. Newspaper clippings covered his apartment walls. Every victim vanished within twenty miles of the same forgotten stretch of forest.

The police dismissed his theories, his editor threatened to fire him, so he went alone. Armed with only a flashlight, camera, and notebook, Elias followed a trail of dried blood into an abandoned Victorian manor hidden deep within the trees.

Inside, every room was covered in faded crimson symbols. Candles still burned. The smell of smoke lingered in the walls. Then he heard screaming coming from upstairs.

Dashing upstairs, expecting to see a person caught under debris while trying to do some weird pagan ritual with spray paint and candles, possibly some ridiculous teenagers, what he found was far worse.

A woman in a grayish hoodie and a white mask over her face, with scarred covering all her limbs, blood smeared all over her body, holding a pocket knife and screaming, holding another woman by the throat, the knife being thrusted into the woman’s chest, carving shapes and markings into her body. Blood sprayed like a fountain, the woman with the knife kept screaming, tears flowing down her face, yelling “YOU RUINED IT YOU STUPID HAG! THEY MIGHT GET MAD! THE SACRIFICE IS RUINED!”

Behind them, a curtain was on fire, the fire growing surprisingly fast. Smoke was starting to fill the room. The smoke made it hard to see the black fog seeping up from the floorboards and from the cracks in the windows and walls.

The last thing Elias Mercer heard before everything went cold, dark, and quiet was the crazed knife wielding woman yelling “MY ANGEL, MY GOD, TAKE ME, TAKE ME FROM HERE AND BRING ME WITH YOU TO HEAVEN!”

Then, in the distance, he saw a campfire in the dark, and around it sat three figures. They didn’t appear to be dangerous from what he could tell, so he began to approach them.
