What if gates slowly auto progress for the last survivor?

Some Gates are placed so bad that you basically had to give up and die to Endgame Collapse somewhere in Main, but what if for the last survivor alive, once powered, the Exit Gates slowly progress so that they are at 80% after around 2 minutes. The other 20% you have to do yourself but at least you have a better chance than Killer basically getting the kill

Comments

  • At that point the killer found the hatch and won, there is no need to set the gates to 80%

  • Sure why not. Let's give survivors a 4 second exit gate.

  • Basekit? No. It'd give killers even more reason to slug for the 4k and they do that too much already.

Maybe as a buff to Left Behind.

  • legit asking for a 5th chance lol

  • another post which confirms half the playerbase does not play killer

  • So you tap the switch and stealth to the other gate while the killer searches around the auto completing gate? How about you give the killer the ability to regress the switch?

  • The game counts the hatch escape as a neutral condition for matchmaking. For all intents and purposes a hatch escape is basically a pity escape for the last survivor. If it's closed and EGC begins, if the survivor manages to escape through the gates I think it counts as a win for them? Which makes sense because you've escaped through the worst circumstance. I don't think we should just be giving free escapes for the last survivor because it creates a damned if you do damned if you don't scenario for the killer.

Killer either shuts the hatch and potentially loses out on the last survivor through gates.
Or the killer camps hatch to prevent the survivor from making any meaningful moves.

It just creates a really bad dynamic overall.

Ok, it’s true that some maps gates really benefit killer. But it’s a lot more likely that they are far apart and benefit survivors. If it’s a map with far apart gates it’s just a guarantee win. At this point in the match, the killer has won and they found the hatch. Survivors don’t need ANOTHER last chance escape

I do play Killer and even I feel bored when I stand there and just turn 180 to see both exit gates

The speed at which they progress could be calculated by their distance and pathfinding. The closer they are the faster they progress. So when you are at one of the original maps, where the Exit Gates can spawn basically next to each other (Had that on occasions), then they would open within 1.5-2 minutes. If they are distant like usually in Hawkins, they wouldn't progress at all because it takes the killer time to check either.
In open world they usually just need one spot to only move slightly or not at all to have both gates in view
