Original Killer Mori Remasters
The original 3 killers in Dead by Daylight (Trapper, Wraith, Hillbilly) have noticeably lacking Memento Mori's compared to killers that were released less than a year after the game's launch, like Nurse or Hag. Part of the reason probably being the lesser importance of a killer's Mori back in the early development of the game, especially when compared to other more pressing gameplay matters that needed attention. The other part of the reason is that they were designed for a first-person perspective, which was in recent years removed in favor of the survivor perspective for both sides. However, this results in Trapper's Mori showing only his legs, slashing the survivor in the back a few times and then standing still. Wraith pulls the survivor's leg, revealing his torso and face at least before also slashing at the survivor's back. Hillbilly is probably the best of the original three here, at least incorporating his chainsaw to slash at the survivor's back. You may see a trend here with the designs of their Memento Mori animations.
The game has come an astounding 10 years now, and is at its peak player count even after all that time. We have the posterboy of the game in Trapper, the best killer to the learn the game with in Wraith, and one of the strongest mobility killers in the Hillbilly. Their pickrates are still high, they are widely beloved for their simplicity and playability at both newer player skill levels, and even some higher ones. And yet, with the sheer number of killers added to the game in those 10 years, and the amount of incredibly animated and unique Moris, I think it's a better time than ever to improve upon these classic killers in one of the few ways they can seem lacking. New players equipping a Mori offering deserve a satisfying reward for catching that survivor on death hook, or finding the last survivor before they reach the hatch. A unique and detailed Mori is something that can really bolster the personality of that killer.
Some ideas for reanimating these killers' Moris:
Trapper: Incorporate a beartrap as a weapon. Perhaps Trapper reaches down and grabs the survivor by the shoulder, turns them onto their back and slams a partially open beartrap onto their head, crushing it with an audible crunch and leaving the trap on their corpse for others to see when passing by it during the rest of the trial.
Wraith: His weapon has a sort of hooked shape to it, which would be perfect to stab into the shoulder of the survivor, pull them into an upright position on their knees. Could then have Wraith either pull out the survivor's spine or maybe burn half of their face with his hand before ripping his weapon out of their shoulder.
Hillbilly: Genuinely can't think of any significant remake of his Mori, could probably keep it exactly how it is but just touch up the speed of it by cutting out the pause at the end, improving camera angles, and maybe updating the sounds or blood when the survivor is cut through by the chainsaw.
Dead by Daylight mobile also had some interesting and different Memento Moris for various characters, including these three. It's only fair they get a touch up now that they've officially made it 10 years in the fog!
