self preservation is basically distortion again
with self preservation giving the elusive status up to 9 times for 30 seconds, this is somehow worse than when distortion used to block aura reading with 3 regenerative tokens.
You dont need to do anything and punish the killer for doing their objective instead of slugging a survivor.
This is somehow just another perk with this design philosophy that is counterproductive for killers

This perk is not even COMPARABLE to old distortion, old distortion could counter every single aura perks and addons of killers without interacting with the killer.
Self preservation just counters bbq and that’s it, and you cannot guess what aura perk the killer has anyway, at least distortion let you know what aura perk was used at the moment.
I would say there are more perks. Gearhead, Darkness Revealed. Floods of rage, Friends till the end, some addons here and there. But i get that, bbq is the Most Common and it Suffers the Most.
Maybe it could work like devour hope, triggering effect after for example 10s pass. You would potentially get more time to use that elusive if killer wanted to go after you, and killer would get information on your position.
It is true that with elusive activating you cant pin point what aura perk killers have but my point is that aura reading
is being denied and punishes the killer for doing their objective and restricting diversity in killer perk builds
While Self Preservation is a very good perk, I don't think it's quite comparable to old Distortion.
Old Distortion basically never ran out of tokens 95% of the time; Self Preservation isn't something that's active for the entire match and unlike Distortion it doesn't give you any information on what the killer is (or isn't) using. It is a very effective BBQ and FTTE counter though.
