Killer and Survivor Concept - The Monk
Killer
Name - Akeri Tokona
Backstory - Akeri Tokona had always been an aggressive soul, even as a child. His first kill had occurred when he was 6 and his mother had asked him to 'handle' a particularly annoying rat bothering the pet cat, Mittens. Akeri had taken it upon himself to find the rat, and pull it's limbs off its body before feeding it to Mittens. This continued into his later years, where he would get into fights with other kids, kill rodents, or get aggressive with adults. It was only 11 years after that first murder, when Akeri nearly killed a girl he had gotten mad at that his mother decided enough was enough.
Within a week of the incident, Akeri had been sent off to a nearby temple to be taught by the monks there. Akeri had heard of them of course, but he always found their ideals foolish. Pacifists were just fools who didn't understand the world, in his eyes. Violence was part of life, and by extention, death. But now, he had no choice but to follow the rules, as the lawyer his mother hired from the girl incident had said it was either this or jail.
So he followed the rules. He went through the motions, learnt the processes and techniques to help his anger. And to some extent, it helped. He got mad less. Yelled less. He became close with the head Monk, a man named Onerico, and slowly, reluctantly, became sort of friends with another young boy, Joraco. Although, even with all the meditation and friendships, there was always a part of him, a part inside his brain, that always urged him to be violent. That sometimes, a punch or stab was necessary. The voice just needed a moment that would make Akeri snap.
That moment came about 3 years after he'd been sent to the temple, when he was 20 years old. Onerico had passed. He was an aged man, so it was expected. Akeri mourned with the rest of the temple monks. However his replacement, a man who went by Tariko, was nothing like Onerico. He was cruel, violent, and did nothing but break the rules. It was painful to watch for most of the monks, but they would always refuse to fight back and break their paths.
Akeri didn't share their thoughts. Every day, he would take a slap for his open and loud hatred of Takiro, and every time, he would go to strike back, only being stopped by Joraco's words of warning that Onerico wouldn't want Akeri to ruin all his progress. Akeri, inside, knew Joraco was correct, but every part of Takiro made the young monk want to snap.
About a year after Takiro had taken the role of head monk, Akeri was finishing up a set of meditation when he felt someone approach. As he turned around, he found Joraco, whose hand was held to a bleeding cut on his cheek. It was obvious to Akeri who had done it, but Joraco was determined to not do anything about it, so Akeri silently decided he would.
That night, when Joraco was sleeping, Akeri silently woke up, snuck out of the sleeping quarters, and put his plan into action. He moved silently through the halls and into the main hall, where he found the wooden poles the elder monks used. He took one, along with a knife used to cut food, and quickly made his weapon by tying the knife to the end of the wooden pole. It wasn't perfect, but it would do the trick.
With his weapon of choice secured, he snuck through the halls to the head monk's room, finding Takiro awake with his back to the door. Akeri snuck up on the sad excuse for a monk, and without warning, plunged the makeshift spear into his leg, crippling Takiro. The cry of pain was loud but brief, quickly cut off by a second pained scream as the spear was pulled out and stabbed into his chest next, causing a pool of blood to form on the floor. Takiro had managed to grab a knife during the scuffle, but it didn't do much. Akeri was unwounded, light on his feet, and had the range advantage, so within seconds, Takiro's head had been struck by a third lunge with the spear, and the light in his eyes had faded.
Akeri, however, wouldn't be able to stay. The screams of pain had alerted the temple, and it wouldn't be hard for anyone to piece together that he was the cause, so he ran out through the back, into the courtyard of the temple and onto the steps of the mountain. He noticed the black fog around him, but he just assumed it was the fog that usually surrounded the tall mountain that the temple lived on.
Weapon - The weapon would be a makeshift spear similar to the one Akeri killed Tariko with. A long wooden pole with a knife tied to it using rope.
Ability - Training Forms: The Monk would have the ability to switch between two different forms: Meditation Form and Combat Form. Pressing the Active Ability button will switch the form currently being used and will temporarily suffer from Hindered.
Meditation Form: Meditation Form is the form that The Monk will start a trial in. The Monk cannot attack while in Meditation Form or kick genarators, but can break pallets and breakable walls. It can also grab, and doing so will automatically switch The Monk to Combat Form. While in Meditation Form, The Monk will have Undetectable granted, and will have access to the Sixth Sense ability.
Sixth Sense: When in Meditation Form, pressing the Active Power button will cause The Monk to stop moving for about 5 seconds, spinning their pole in the air and then slamming it down on the ground, creating a sound cue. Then, all survivors in The Monk's Terror Radius will have their auras revealed for 30 seconds, or until any survivor revealed takes damage.
Combat Form: While in Combat Form, The Monk will regain the ability to basic attack and kick generators, but will lose the ability to break pallets and breakable walls. After switching from Meditation Form to Combat Form, The Monk will keep the Undetectable effect for 10 seconds, or until they damage a survivor. While in Combat Form, The Monk will be able to use the Weightless Lunge ability.
Weightless Lunge: When in Combat Form, pressing the Active Power button will cause The Monk to lunge forward a short distance, which can be used 3 times in a row before a cooldown starts. If a Survivor is not hit by any of the 3 lunges, or a lunge is not chained quick enough, The Monk will stumble and slow down as if stunned. If a survivor is hit by the 1st lunge, it will deal a single health state. If a survivor is hit by the 2nd chained lunge, it will deal a single health state, and if the survivor is left injured after the hit, inflict Deep Wounds. If the survivor is hit by the 3rd chained lunge, The Monk will automatically start carrying the hit survivor, even if said survivor was healthy.
Killer Perks -
Eye Of Nature: You've lived around nature for years, and you know how it acts, and how to spot changes. Kicking a Generator will leave it Compromised. Any survivor within 8/12/16 meters of a Compromised generator has their aura revealed as long as that generator is regressing. Only one generator can be compromised at a time.
Hex - Focused Thoughts: You've trained for years to recognise your problems with emotions, and you can do the same to others. The first time you down a survivor, a Dull Totem ignites. Any survivor picked up from the dying state or who wiggles free from the Killer's grasp will suffer from Hindered until healed fully or for 20/40/60 seconds.
Worldly Knowledge: You understand how the world works, even if others choose to ignore it. Every time a survivor loses a health state, you gain 1 token, up to 10.
4 Tokens: You gain 4/6/8 percent haste for 10 seconds every time you land a basic attack.
7 Tokens: Downing a survivor will reveal the auras of all survivors within 16 meters.
10 Tokens: You can kill downed survivors as long as no survivors are within 24 meters.
Mori - The Monk would approach the survivor, stabbing their shoulder to keep them on the ground, then reach down to break their arm before pulling out the spear and stabbing them in the head.
Survivor
Name - Joraco Lokita
Backstory - Joraco Lokita had been born into the monk life. His father had been a gambler and lost a lot of money to powerful people. With no other option, he had sold Joraco to the monk temple in the mountains when he was only 2. He had been raised by the leader at the time, Onerico, who had treated Joraco as his own son.
He had lived that life his whole life, following the rules, learning the techniques and teaching newcomers better then even some elders could. When he was 13, he had witnessed his first murder. The monks had been visiting the town as they usually do, and an angry man in the crowd had lunged forward and plunged a knife into one of the monks, yelling something about lies and deceit. Later, Onerico had explained to Joraco that the murderer had been upset about something one of the monks had said, and took his anger out in a bad way.
When Joraco was 17, a newcomer named Akeri caught his attention. He was an angry one, sent to the mountain by his mother to get out of going to prison. Joraco didn't care. He chose to be friendly. He chose to ignore the warnings of the other monks and become friends with the newcomer. It worked out in his favour. Akeri became nicer to him because of it, and no one was willing to mess with the angry Monk who had been know to nearly kill people.
When Onerico died 3 years after Akeri joined, Joraco went into a depressed state. He hid in his room for weeks, only talking to Akeri when the boy came to give him food and company. And the new head monk didn't help. Cruel, torturous and violent, both physically and mentally. It took everything Joraco had to stop Akeri from punching the cruel man, because if Joraco was honest, he was eager to punch this sad excuse for a monk himself.
One day, after a particularly bad incident where he had been cut across the face by the head monk's knife, Joraco had gone to sleep thanks in Akeri's arms late that night, only to be woken a few hours later, Akeri gone, and screams of murder echoing through the temple. Joraco had only reached the courtyard when he saw Akeri sprinting out of the temple entrance, a bloody weapon in hands, and without thinking, Joraco gave chase, running straight into the dark fog after Akeri without a second thought for his safety.
Perks -
Mind State: You've mastered the art of meditation, and can stop the emotions you would normally feel, focusing on the important things. When injured, you make no grunts of pain, and can see the aura of the killer and survivors within 12/16/20 meters.
Invocation - Scurrying Rats: You've learnt to befriend the rodents that anger others, and figured out how to mimmick their tricks. When in the Basement near the circle, press the Active Ability button to begin the Invocation, which takes 60 seconds to complete.
During an Invocation, your Aura is revealed to all other Survivors and they can join in, accelerating the process by +100%, if they too have an Invocation Perk equipped, or by +50%, if they have not.
Once the Invocation is completed, the following effects apply:
- All survivors gain 6/8/10% haste when not in chase, which lasts for 2 seconds after entering a chase.
- You automatically enter the Injured State from any previous Health State, and suffer from Broken for the remainder of the trial.
Only one Invocation can be activated by each survivor.
Passive Aggressive: You took an oath to do no harm, and so must find other ways to slow and avoid your hunter. You no longer stun the Killer when dropping a pallet on them. Flashlights and other blinding methods now blind for 20/40/60% longer.
Map - The map could be a large temple area on a mountain, with the main building being the main hall on the edge of the map, while the rest of the map is the courtyard and smaller buildings, plus the killer shack.
