  • Ironic how Gun thinks that if they will be the only ones with access to Myers, then they will profit more and get Myers enjoyers to play their game.

As if they won't just abandon the game after a year "because the project became too big" (they got the profit they wanted and no longer care to balance the game).

Even if DbD would die, I will not buy their game. I remembered TCM. I remembered FT13.

  • My wild guess is they may be able to use this to replace the license later with the movie version rather than the comic version that never allowed any new content.

There's a good chance that after seeing how TCM went, they've only bought the license for 12 months.

I never understand license holders selling rights. You won't make more money by making exclusive deals. You make more money by diversifying your license so having multiple games having the character makes it more likely to you to get more money as some people from one game will not buy the other game anyway.

Also character being in another game will not hurt a game that is made of the franchise itself. In the end it most likely would be wiser to use the other games license deal to entice people to buy the new game. Like new cosmetics that link to the new game. When you do these kind of things you just leave bad taste for the other games players so they are even less likely to buy the new game.

It just proves that license holders don't even know how to make money from licence they hold.

The problem u aren't making “no time limit deals”. Everything that involves IP has their own “age”. That's the reason that some licences becomes public free after specific period.

Halloween license just expired after so many years, and to return it, both sides need to initiate this bureaucracy, and more likely it must be BHVR. That has to be a lil difficult now, after controversial year and another competitor that holds licence for potential new release, that would like to stay as an exclusive content.

But they can find it time consuming and not worthy simple.

Not to mention, to renew the license costs money and they're not going to spend the money unless they're sure they'll get it back, plus profit. The sales likely aren't there anymore. Everyone who wanted Myers and Laurie likely have them by now, and whatever new players are coming into the game may not be enough to make the cost worth it

  • Quite the year till the very end for DBD, lol.

to me i think its be worth keeping just to keep up appearances. losing a licence like this now is just weakening faith in the brand. now more than ever BHVR can't afford these kind of headlines.
