Suggestion: Private Match Expansion – Adjustable Bot Difficulty, Arcade Mode, and Spectator Option

Good morning/afternoon/evening.I’d like to make a small but important suggestion regarding Private Match Mode and possible extensions that could make it more engaging and useful for both casual and advanced players.

🎮 1. Add Bots to Private Matches

It would be great to allow bots in private lobbies, enabling solo players or small groups to test builds, perks, and map strategies. This would make private matches not just a “custom game,” but also a training and experimentation mode for all players.

🧠 2. Adjustable Bot Difficulty Settings

Allow users to set independent difficulty levels for killers and survivors. For example:

  • Killer: Nightmare
  • Survivors: Expertor even
  • Killer: Beginner
  • Survivors: Nightmare

This flexibility would let players customize both sides’ behaviors to test different matchups, perk combinations, and strategies in a controlled environment.

Each difficulty could have unique traits:

  • Nightmare: Mindgame-heavy killers, optimized perk synergy, and adaptive survivor evasion.
  • Expert: Strong tactical decisions, efficient generator control or repair.
  • Normal/Easy: Balanced for learning and casual fun.
  • Beginner: Great for newcomers or relaxed practice.

👁️ 3. Spectator Mode in Private Matches

It would also be highly beneficial to include a spectator option where players can freely watch the entire match:

  • Observe all survivors and the killer in real time.
  • Study how bots use perks, chase routes, and map awareness.
  • Switch between perspectives or use a free camera view.

This mode could help players analyze and improve gameplay, discovering how different builds and perk combinations interact dynamically during a match.

🕹️ 4. Arcade Mode (Optional Extension)

A fun addition could be an Arcade Campaign Mode, where players progress through multiple levels using killers or survivors, either solo or co-op.

Key features could include:

  • Reward points or Bloodpoints for completing “towers” (similar to Mortal Kombat).
  • Adjustable number of stages (5–9–12) and difficulty scaling.
  • Online leaderboards where weekly top players earn rewards such as skins or bonus Bloodpoints.
  • Split-screen local play for survivors (up to 4 players) and online options for co-op or 2v8 modes against bots.

🧩 5. Why This Would Be Valuable

  • Encourages practice and creativity with perks and builds.
  • Reduces entry barriers for new players.
  • Provides a safe, non-toxic environment to train and enjoy the game.
  • Increases replay value through customizable challenges and difficulty.
  • Allows the community to create mini-tournaments or training sessions with the spectator mode.

💬 Final Thoughts

Adding bots, adjustable difficulty, and a spectator option to private matches would greatly expand Dead by Daylight’s usability as both a competitive and learning tool.It would let players experiment, improve, and enjoy the game even without a full online lobby.

Thank you very much for your time and attention to this idea — I truly hope it can be considered in future updates!

Comments

  • The problem is, that DbD bots are rock solid stupid and completely unpredictable in a sense you don't know what part will implode when.

  • 1: That's already the case. Though, for whatever reason, BHVR seems hesitant to add killer bots. Which means that if you don't have anyone to play with, you can only 'practice' killer.

2: Other than numerical values like % chance to hit or miss skillchecks, I'm not sure what this would even look like.

3: Again, already the case. Though a freecam might be nice for customs. Definitely not for public matches, though.
