Grim Embrace is a bad bandaid solution
Why?
1) It won't prevent 2-3 gens popping before you manage to hook your 1st survivor, because it activates after you hook someone
2) People have to rely on this perk to be able to sufficiently control "gen rush". A perk behind a paywall. Meaning, if you don't buy Artist and specifically use this perk in every match, you will struggle against gens.
3) Solo Q players are going to suffer. A lot.
Meanwhile, basekit Corrupt Intervention would have solved the first 2 problems, and avoided adding to the 3rd.

Having to rely on a specific perk to "fix" a problem in the game is a bad solution in my opinion.
Past instances where this has happened:
1) introduction of Shattered Hope to deal with old Circle of Healing, instead of properly nerfing/changing Circle of Healing. The change to CoH came much later.
2) introduction of Reassurance to deal with camping, instead of addressing camping. Camping partially got addressed much later (the anti-facecamp) feature.
And now we have Grim Embrace to try to fix genrushing. Having to use 1 specific perk to deal with a game design problem is no good. At least in my opinion.
I don't necessarily disagree w you, but this logic applies to any slowdown since the dawn of time. Like every slowdown has always been a "bandaid" for the poop basekit game delay. That's kind of the point of them/perks in general.
However, buffing basekit gen slowdown and then nerfing the perks? Nuke tunneling and camping and add a new system to encourage spreading hooks and pressure? Sign me up dooder yup yup.
Grim Embrace is a good solution but it is not fun for survivor.
And when have the new Grim Embrace supposedly being a "solution" to anything?
It's just a perk that had a weak effect for what it required to trigger it that now is a good slowdown perk with a decent effect. Don't know where you got it was a "bandaid" to anything.
Also, can we stop with the "Mah SoloQ", please? Every single team-based game out there would be worst if you play it with randoms and no communications. What SoloQ needs is that, in-game communications, not having the whole game balanced around them.
It's good for those 1000+ killer win streaks, I guess... ☠️
I only play solo Q when I play survivor, because I don't have people to play with. And no, you can't just easily magically get friends who will be into DBD and resonate with you personality-wise and want to play when you want to play.
I think most of DBD survivors are solo Q. Neglecting us is a bad choice for the game's health.... and our will to play survivor / DBD.
I also play mostly SoloQ when playing survivor, and nobody is neglecting "us" for not balancing the game around you. At contrary, balancing the game around solo players would only make those that play like a SWAT team in a 4 people SWF stronger, and that's what is truly bad for the game's health. That, and like I said, any single team-based game out there is "worst" when playing with people you don't know and you can't communicate with to coordinate.
Also, I never said "get some friends", what I said is that what you should be asking for if you are so worried about "SoloQs" is for in game communications to at least have the minimum tools required to try coordinating. DbD Mobile has a Quickchat function, something that would be perfect to have in the main version too as it is the middle ground between voice chat and a ping system:
This is what would help SoloQ, not balancing a team based game for the solo players.
Nobody said this about the perk - not even the developers. In addition, you could say this about every other slowdown, besides Corrupt, or regression perk that these perks does not prevent losing 2 - 3 generators before you have your first hook. You can buy Artist with shards so this perk is not locked behind a paypal like BBQ, Surge or DS. We also have many good other genperks such as Eruption, Surge, and Pop - so no player has to rely on one perk to prevent gen popping. Sure all of these perks are not free but this is another issue that the developers does not make the game more beginner friendly. Lastly, you can also use chaseperks to keep up with fast generators - if you have quick chases/downs, you pressure the survivors from a different point.
Grim Embrace is also not a SoloQ punisher. Grim Embrace has the same effect to SWF groups. The issue with SoloQ is another but not this perk (missing build preview of other survivors; missing QoL changes to name two of a few). I agree that SoloQ is in a miserable position but this does not mean we can use SoloQ as an excuse for everything.
Meanwhile, basekit Corrupt Intervention would have solved the first 2 problems, and avoided adding to the 3rd.
Hell no! If we had basekit Corrupt SWFs could call out which generators are blocked which is an advantage which SoloQ does not have. With your idea you would give SoloQ a more suffering time.
