How strong should a main building set up be?

I understand players hate Garden of joy/Haddonfield buildings because survivors can vault certain windows with no immediate route for the killer to catch up. These places shouldn't be that strong but god rancid abattoir main building feel like the exact opposite. A good amount of main buildings have one window you can vault which will give you distances so that you can wrap around and potentially vault again. (Groaning storehouse, suffocating pit, Torment creek, Gas heaven)

With that being said… what does the rancid abattoir main building do for survivors?? They put a fence near the former good window and open the breakable door so it is much weaker when it spawn. You only get one window inside now so it is extremely hard to loop and 4 different angles in which u can be approach while on the gen by the killer. You gotta break this center gen or you will likely three gen. Should this main building really be this weak?

  • To be fair on Haddonfield you really just have the one house on either side that’s good, and they don’t really connect to anything else. The streets and lawns are super unsafe. Hell the street itself is practically a deadzone. I think balance is not having one strong structure but then a large part of the map (the majority) being virtually unusable. Rancid Abbatoir in general has become a very bad map for survivors.

I was away on holiday for a bit during the anniversary event and update changes so just came back on last week and was shocked with the main building too - thankfully we didn’t get 3 genned but I was thinking exactly what you said about the ridiculous danger level of that main building.

  • I think Dead Dog Saloon should be considered the cornerstone of mapmaking/balancing. The structures are safe but not too safe, close together but not too close together, runnable if you're good or average and less so if you're worse than average, and the same applies to main.

Plus it hits the sweet spot of being the perfect size imo.

yeah Haddonfield is kinda terrible in the center of the map so i can kinda understand why the houses are powerful. Still it kinda ridiculous to expect most killers to chase inside those buildings.
