Why did the "Try Killer for free" Shards got removed from the game?
These where really cool. You could play a killer for one round and try them out. You had no addons or perks but still it was really cool. Was it because of the liscense characters or because of a bug or another completely different reason?

I dont think there was any reasons given as to why Splinters were removed, but it is a shame.
1. They were rarely used.
2. They were a waste of bloodpoints for those who didnt want them.
3. Playing killers without perks is a bad experience for 'trying out the killer.'
Sometimes it can happen that a survivor got those things in their bloodweb and yes they could force a killer on you.
There also was an issue in that you could get Splinters for killers you own because you bought them with auric cells instead of the DLC.
Pretty sure there was no reason given for splinters being removed. And it's a shame they were removed because they were something that provided something different to the game (via allowing you to test out a killer before purchasing them).
I believe the main reason were hackers.
They could force you to "use" a splinter and change your Killer.
They could have easily just made the splinters be an item that only works in KYF.
Every time you get a splinter it allows you to play one full game with that killer with whatever perks you want (since it is KYF).
That fixes all the problems that people have listed about splinters.
