Resurgence Buff Idea

current effect

You've come back from near impossible odds... and you'll do it again.

Gain 40% healing progress instantly after being unhooked or unhooking yourself.

reworked effect

You've come back from near impossible odds, and you'll do it again, empowering you and nearby allies.

Upon being unhooked by another survivor gain 2 tokens and upon unhooking a survivor gain 1 token. You can only have 2 token at a time.

~While sitting still or healing yourself, press the ability 1 button to consume 2 tokens to heal yourself for 40/45/50% healing progress. This healing progress cannot be lost by the Hemorrhage status.

~When healing a survivor from the dying state, press the ability 1 button to consume 1 token to heal the survivor 15/20/25% healing progress.

~When healing an injured survivor, press the ability 1 button to consume 2 tokens and heal a survivor for 15/20/25% healing progress. This healing progress cannot be lost by the Hemorrhage status.

~When mending a survivor, press the ability 1 button to consume 1 tokens and instantly mend the survivor.

Why this change in particular

The main idea behind this one is providing a buff to your teammates as well as yourself as a reward for altruistic actions for the team.

The original perk only rewarded yourself, which in a team-based game seems selfish to an extent. Now the survivor will have more variety in how they use the perk, as well as the ability to use it more, but they have to work for the perk as well as dealing with the restrictions the perk has.

Another important thing was removing how useless the perk is when the Hemorrhage status is afflicted. Resurgence is entirely useless when perks like Sloppy Butcher are in play. Adding some benefits and protection against Hemorrhage will help make it more useful.

  • Couple small things:

    1. It shouldn't be "ability 1" because of For the People.
    2. It requiring you to have 2 tokens to heal yourself and an injured survivor feels very odd. It could totally just be 1 token and half your suggested progress.
    3. Shouldn't affect mending imo
    4. Just because some perks are selfish doesn't mean they don't fit. A lot of perks then would have to be reworked. This perk is limited by the number of uses and Hemo, that's all.

    1. I designed it with concerns in regards to multiple people running the perk to get large value from it, and how abuseable it could be within certain situations. Values can be changed if they seem too weak of course.
    2. I made it effect mending since it would reward team play and still have limited application, it's not a hard counter to Legion, if you look at how many survivors are stuck mending throughout the match, and it only instantly mends other survivors, not yourself. I mainly did this to sort of work as a "you get hit off of hook and are stuck in Deep Wound, we'll let's fix that" type of thing.
    3. I wanted the perk to seem less selfish and also have other utility, the idea was to be an overall buff as well as being something that can help the team as a whole. Resurgence is not really used when there are other and better perks (Renewal, Off The Record, etc.), so my idea was to really just give it something extra to make it better.
    1. Oh yeah, I was only thinking about doing it this way

~While sitting still or healing yourself, press the ability 2 button to consume 1 token to heal yourself for 20/22,5/25% healing progress. This healing progress cannot be lost by the Hemorrhage status

.When healing an injured survivor, press the ability 2 button to consume 1 tokens and heal a survivor for 7,5/10/12,5% healing progress. This healing progress cannot be lost by the Hemorrhage status.

Just fyi, Idk if 0,5% is possible, but if it is I would do it way. This way you cannot sit on 1 token without being able to use it on yourself.

    2.Fair enough I guess.

3.I respect trying to make it better, I'm only saying that's doable without having to make it less selfish. Even it giving a burst 25-50% healing progress when getting up from dying state would make it better. (+Hemo Protection)

  • This is just better renewal. I mean - I am not directly oppose to this one, but if this would be the case, then we need to remake renewal. I would also presume we might need to lower a little bit numbers (maybe it would be even enough to have each token heal max 49% instead of 50% so it would require assistance from boon/selfcare/medkit/other survivor to fully heal).
