Coup de Grace should be This
Current Coup de Grace
- Each time a Generator is completed, Coup de Grace grows in power and gains 1 token.
- Consume 1 token to increase the distance of your next lunge attack by 70%/75%/80%.
The Problems
- Coup de Grace only activates once a Generator is completed, and due to this limitation, Coup de Grace can only gain 5 tokens in total throughout the entirety of the Trial.
- Coup de Grace doesn't actually increase the distance of your lunge attack by the amount listed. In reality, the amount is around 24% increased distance for the normal Killer.
The Solution
New Coup de Grace
- Each time you hit a Survivor with a Basic Attack, Coup de Grace grows in power and gains 1 token.
- Consume 1 token to extend the duration of your next lunge attack by 60%/80%/100%.
This fixes the problems current Coup has where it requires that the Killer loses in order for it to gain power, and doesn't actually give the Killer the proper distance it should be giving. The changes require that a Killer make some sacrifices by playing really close to the Survivor, while also giving them a reward for trying to play up close.
This change does not remove the limit of having 5 tokens total with Coup; instead, it allows the Killer to have the ability to gain more tokens even after consuming them, making this Perk far more functional than it is now, without making it a must-have Perk.

This does feel like it would be a must-have perk with any M1 killer. Now, I don't know exactly know if that is a bad thing tho, but it would give already good killers (Spirit, Nurse) an even better boost.
This is basically reverse old MoM, as far as I'm concerned. Which makes it a no from me.
Honestly I’d just as soon have Coup De Grace simply be “Your lunges have +X% extra distance” full stop. No generators or hooks or anything involved, just a permanent passive lunge range increase of some kind. It can even be smaller than the increase in the current version, that’s fine, I just want an ability that is consistently reliably giving a benefit all the time.
I think coup as is one of those high skill perks that really only benefit people who are really good. I’ve seen some good streamers pull off really crazy downs with coup.
It is ok for there to be those perks in the game, but I never run it as I’m not one of those high skill people.
The requirement to getting it is to hit a basic attack, so mostly M1 Killers would benefit from this, yes. However, the requirement still has the Killer needing to go extremely close to the opponent to hit them, which may or may not always work depending on if the game feels fancy.
In the case of Nurse and Spirit, though, they might not always benefit from the attack. But a Killer like Wraith would heavily benefit from it.
This isn't a reverse Mettle of Man. This is just "hit character with specific part of attack", then "hit character with super lunge".
There is nothing high skill about a Perk that requires you to literally lose the game just to get a single token off of it.
In my opinion, it should just increase your lunge by 20% each time a generator is completed. That way you can use it more than five times, and it keeps it's "end game perk" theme.
Oh, the wording is a bit misleading then. Super lunge/Lunge still count as a basic attacks.
With the current wording it would mean that after getting one token (and you weren't missing your swings) you basically super lunge the entire match.
