Never Unhook THIS Survivor

This is my feedback on a current and extremely toxic meta that is currently in Dead By Daylight. I consider this extremely toxic for the game and it has to do with the end game situation that we have all been in. This toxicity is a result of the current state of how the hatch works. However, survivors should not even have so much energy invested in this situation as it only rewards BP, an escape, but no MMR.

When I say "never unhook this survivor", this is my advice to finishing off the match and not prolonging it. It is not a personal attack on anyone and just a suggestion on how to finish a match quickly for everyone.

NEVER unhook the final survivor if there are only two survivors remaining; you and someone else. Most killers will fish out the final survivor with BBQ or by allowing for the final survivor to unhook. Or they just wanted that BBQ stack. However, this situation prolongs the game and it becomes a struggle for the hatch, but not in DBD terms. There really is no point in saving someone when there is only 2 remaining survivors and 5 gens to turn on.

This does breed a highly toxic situation where the other survivor is left slugged and then the killer returns to pick them up and drop them to find the other survivor. Sounds like a strategy and it is. However, this 90% of the becomes the most toxic situation as the survivor that was slugged becomes extremely toxic and it no longer becomes Dead By Daylight but a personal vendetta against the final survivor and they team with the killer. Regardless of who the final survivor is, whether they were an immersed Claudette, a locker Dwight, or just an experienced gamer that knows saving would be just in vain.

Perhaps this should be looked into by the Developers. But as far as the survivors go, don't be that guy. Move on to the next match and make it better.

There also seems to be something missing from OPs train of thought: if the consensus is that whoever gets hooked first is left to die in a only-two-left-situation what do you think will happen? I can tell you: it will turn into a never ending game of hide and seek and lightly tapping gens, crouching away at the slightest hint of a terror radius so that you won't be the one going on the hook. It is hilarious to watch once or twice - but after that.... well, let me put it this way: while I hate slugging without strategic purpose with a passion, my comment on a killer death-slugging the two of them right in front of a hook while doing happy-dances/freak outs when they do eventually get a hold of them would probably be "very understandable".

In a way going for the 0.01%-success-rate-rescue is a means of bringing the match to a quicker end while also retaining a positive, sportsmanslike attitude. (And if I, as the hooked one, want the other person to get hatch I'll try to communicate that by failing my skill checks.)

Heck. Sometimes, as a killer, that final save is a test of character: if they go for the rescue they get hatch. If they don't go for the rescue I will slap that thing shut and hook them. (And if I know that the two of them can finish the gens in a reasonable timespan cause some gens have good progress I just let them do that. Which is me being a sucker for altruism even as killer --- but so what? I'm happy and that's all I care about when playing a game.)

  • Survivors are free to choose to play however they want, within the game rules. Maybe they want another WGLF stack, more chase points, to do Rift challenges, etc. And either way, you’re free to give yourself up to the killer at any point you choose. So no, there doesn’t have to be some 20-minute hatch stand-off for the last three players.

  • This has never happened to me. Quit trying to blend and take aggro for your team.

  • what exactly are you complaining about? that people save you? oh no how awful of them to play the game instead of hiding and wait for the hatch (which doesn't even count for MMR bc it's not a win). Longer game means more gameplay and more bloodpoints. If you don't want to be unhooked, don't hit the skillchecks. If there's two survivors and 5 gens left i'm not going to just hide and wait for the other to die lol I'm gonna keep playing the game and get as many BP as I can, which doesn't change anything for you. If you want the game to be over quicker, feel free to walk up to the killer instead of hiding in the corner hoping your teammate, who's also hiding, gets caught before you.

Also the situation you described with the survivor siding with the killer is literally so rare lol. im not sure why you're complaining about this considering if you don't unhook your last teammate you won't find yourself in that situation, unless you're the one getting saved, slugged and helping the killer in which case you're literally the problem you're complaining about ?
