Remove SBMM already.

Can't u devs see we all hate the update and check the steamcharts the playrate dropped 50% ever since the SBMM was added, will u guys remove it already?!

  • Remove it and then what? Can’t go back to the old system (which also didn’t even work and was complained about even more than SBMM is complained about now)

instead: they should try to improve SBMM. Currently even the devs confirmed that the matchmaking isn’t even working the way it should to prioritize shorter lobby queue times. Backfill lobbies are also a huge problem.

also make the score not solely based on escape/kill but let the pip also influence it without being the sole metric. Make a sophisticated and adjustable system instead of going back to a system that was also bad but gets a pass now because of nostalgia

  • the sbmm often works better for me than the old system did. I have more balanced games. Before sbmm I often had to play as a rank 10-15 killer against red rank sweaty SWF survs.

But I still find it silly to only rate players based on escape or kills. the system can definitely be improved.

  • A lot of people may hate it, but most of them don't fully understand it or the purpose that it's supposed to serve, so are they really the ones who should have the most say here?

I have had some of my best matches with SBMM. Its 101% better than the old system.

Also, what if the Steam chart numbers are dropping for a different reason than SBMM?

You cant just assume a reason and then say the numbers support it, you got to establish clear cause.

  • I love how everyone says the game became harder on both sides... but sbmm doesn't work. Yeah, that doesn't make much sense. SBMM is not a problem, it is the imbalances in the core of the game that are. The biggest one that should be looked into, i think, is map balance.

If the game is harder, then SBMMR is working. I agree with you.

SBMM does not work in a game where you can lose through either no fault of your own or through way too little fault of your own to equate to a deserved loss.

For instance: The killer has a Rancor meme build. Rancor, Bitter Murmur, No Way Out, and Nemesis(the perk). They tunnel one person exclusively. This person at one point will have to stun the killer. If they weren’t the obsession before, they are now. If they don’t die through sheer brute force on the killer’s part before the generators are finished, they almost certainly will die once Rancor kicks in.

So that survivor is deemed a loser. But what were they to do?

dbd’s balance is actually a lot like Quidditch in Harry potter. The snitch gives the team that catches it 150 points and ends the game. Almost all of the time, this completely invalidates everything the opposing team did the entire match, yet that team is considered a loser all the same.

MMR is a ridiculous and unfair system for the type of game that DbD is.

That's one game. It's very very unlikely that they're going to be facing something even equivalent to that every single match, so it's not going to really make much of an impact on their MMR.
