Introduce a Blood Pool - Promotional (+Archive/Daily) and Trials BP Distinction

Because reading comprehension isn't the greatest strength of People, and because it's also not visually distinct about how many Bloodpoints you have in reserve from promotions/rank reset (Is Tome BP uncapped?)

Introduce the

Blood Pool - A Visual distinction between promotion BP and Trial BP

  1. Take the fancy looking BloodHunt Bloodpoint Icon and make that the default UI BP Icon
  2. Hovering over the BP Count shows two values
    1. Fresh Blood - BP earned from Trials, capped at 1Mil
    2. Blood Pool - BP earned from all other Sources, uncapped
  3. Purchasing anything with Bloodpoints pulls from Fresh Blood before pulling from the Blood Pool

  • Also, the question on if Daily and Archive BP should be considered "promotional" BP and added to the uncapped BP pool rather than the capped Trials pool.

It seems strange to delay gratification on the completion of a challenge. (Looking at you, saving BP on Tomes and the Lore snippets that are supposed to be an incentive to unlock)

  • I don’t think that’s quite how the bloodpool works, there’s not two pools of points, only one pool, so there’s nothing to distinguish. If your endgame trial points and mission/Rift points would go over 1 million it brings the pool to 1 million and stops. Otherwise points from promotions and grade rewards just add to the pool with no limit.

That's a perfect example of the ambiguity with the current system regardless of how it actually works at the moment.

    "There is nothing to distinguish"

    Leading immediately into distinguishing criteria:

"If your endgame trial points and mission/Rift points would go over 1 million it brings the pool to 1 million and stops. Otherwise points from promotions and grade rewards just add to the pool with no limit."

It's not ambiguous, there's only one pool of points, not two. It's just that when you go to add points to that pool you may or may not be able to go over 1 million depending on the source.

Judging by what Mandy and Rizzo have been having to clarify, there is a difference.

Also, you literally just said there are different sources: "depending on the source"

    Oh, I should also clarify:

My suggestion is the "Bloodpool" becomes the official title for the sum of BP sources. "Fresh Blood" is just the term to refer to the capped Trials BP.

You could refer to the uncapped BP as just the "Reserve Bloodpool", or "Old Blood"

Different sources to one pool. It's not different pools.

    I have 990K BP

I get 100K BP from a 4-man Party Streamer Trial.

How much BP do I have at the end of the Trial?

  • hmm this one is a slightly more complicated one. It's technically 2 pools, one for bonus BP - so login rewards, grade reset etc and one from earned BP, so stuff from in-game.

You can be at the BP cap of 1 million with a mixture of bonus BP + earned BP. For example you're sitting at 1million BP, but 300k was from login bonuses, you can still earn BP in game until you're at that 1 million earned BP cap...when you reach that, you will stop earning BP.

    Bloodpool - 1,000,000 Bloodpoints

    • Fresh Blood - 700,000 Bloodpoints
    • Old Blood (placeholder name) - 300,000 Bloodpoints

Of course, the method to display that information needs workshopping. However, the jist is this: You have no method of knowing your amounts in either Pool, until you hit the earned BP cap. Even when you do hit the BP cap, you need to have prior knowledge that there is a hard-cap on earned BP of 1,000,000. If you do not have that knowledge, you may think it's a bug as there is no indication that you are "capped out" on earned BP.

Thanks for the correction, Mandy, I honestly thought it was a single pool.

Ok, well if there's actually two pools of points then I could get behind the original post's suggestion that if you mouse over the Bloodpoint total it shows you the subtotals of the two pools.

That is a much more to the point description.

  • So like a savings account?

In this case the MVP would just be being able to hover over your Bloodpoints and seeing how many are from earned BP, and how many are from bonus BP.

Trying to create a learning tool for "money" investment could be an additional nice to have later on.

  • @Idontknowtbh said:

In terms of savings accounts the concern would be the advocation of stagnant spending in order to maximize interest return, which doesn't actually promote cash flow in an economy. (Fortunately, most people are impulse spenders)

Investing would be the better goal.

  • @Idontknowtbh said:

Of course, I'm not actually sure how savings accounts generate funds for the interest they provide to their customers, but the idea of monopolization of investment sources (if the Banks invest savings account cash), probably isn't good either.

There needs to be a reason to use, rather than horde, earned passive gameplay BP.

Challenge BP can be saved up (There's the question of how to incentivize a player to spend it rather than horde it to flaunt big numbers), but Trial BP should absolutely be spent. Part of that is a desire to prevent waste with the cap, you can also make arguments for wanting more impactful uses for BP in the first place like making addons more impactful.
